I’ve been lucky enough to work with Larry a few times. The man’s a genius and just all Round positive problem solver. Some person on set will say something like, “that would have been cool if we could’ve done this totally impossible thing.” Larry would over hear the comment and be all, “I could make that happen. I just need a few minutes to build a (something only Larry knows).” And he on the fly will just design and fabricate some feat of engineering out of random stuff on set. He does it so humbly everyone wonders if he has any idea how genius he is at all. Making like it’s no big deal. Meanwhile everyone on set has their jaws on the floor at the physics and engineering he drops in real time on the fly. There’s only one Larry.
These are so damn cool! Your dad is brilliant. One thing I notice... the fence board at the lip is only 50% or less supported. Probly gonna split on you soooner or later. Easy enough to replace, but some more framing underneath would prevent this. (A couple chunks of fencing underneath, run perpendicular, screwed and glued would make it stout) Or extend the existing 'joists' for full support. Add construction adhesive between and it could go for years. Cheers, great work!!
Actually the 2x4 supports under the top plank should be reversed. this will support the plank right to the front. My instructions to Ryan were not a clear as he made them on his video.
Would be great to see a run down on the kids bikes and skills oriented for small riders. My ten year old is mountain biking obsessed and due to move onto a dual suspension bike but there really isn’t much on TH-cam that is quality like yours for the little up and coming shredders!
Haha. Love it. I built a big bejesus basic pkywood and two by wood frame jump last week. 18 inches at top. No curve. Not adjustable. It is good practice and gets me comfortable with air.
I wonder about creating a version of this with a bigger 4-5 foot jump with more adjustments along the lip... We have a 4.5' jump with an 8.5' radius. It's pretty steep and many people who come over to ride it have a hard time at first. Could be cool to adjust the slope/radius to be more mellow for others testing it out.
Awesome! To be honest, I liked more your father's project... lol But thanks to share yours. I just made a ramp for my kids, with a few twists, just adapting to our trails reality. But the idea was the same ! Regards from Brazil !!!
How long before Casey sends farther than you? That is a really impressive jump design, especially since there was so little waste and it fit easily in your car. Like they say, the family that sends it together....
Sweet for real! Just one (odd) question. You like photography and cinematic scenes, how come we've never got to see the marvelous view of those awesome looking triple peaks @ 5.22 before??
@@TheLoamRanger Just did a little espionage on Google maps and WOW have you done some mtb cherry picking choosing that spot to settle down on 👌 Looking forward to upcoming content, you guys always produce great content and that with an awesome quality!
I'm having a bit of issue with the measurement for the Lift Support. Can someone tell me what the height is supposed to at its highest (from the point which is 7" away from the edge, where both slanted cuts meet)? I tried to do a mockup of this using cardboard just to make sure and ended up with a Lift Support that was of the wrong proportion. Thanks!
I also wondered this, but knowing the height doesn't really matter if you use the offcut from making the frame rail. I've made a step by step guide which covers that. Hope it helps you! th-cam.com/video/HdnQqOTBgTs/w-d-xo.html
Is there assembly instructions by pic or video? The description probably makes sense for the person who wrote it out but "until the wood is 1.5" thick" doesnt make sense as I cant change the thickness of a 2x4 or 2x6
It went together easily in less than an hour. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
Not being a pain but i believe the lift support is missing a couple dimensions and the lip support is missing dimmensions for holes please correct me if im wrong about either
Looks great! Have you run into any issues needing more support for that top plank? Wondering if it would help to have more resistance to the top board twisting. Thinking to have a try at building it.
C D, Actually the 2x4 supports under the top plank should be reversed. this will support the plank right to the front. My instructions to Ryan were not a clear as he made them on his video.

Yeah man last page I think you may need to recheck dimensions, believe its a 2x4, not a 2x6. And I also made this plan in Illustrator to scale if your interested in posting it
Or are you using the really tiny 2x6 scrap for that dimension? I managed to do it with a 2x4 and altered the holes. But yeah I can see it working a bit with scraps... 😅😅🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️

So I built this today. I goofed on a few of the steps but I’m still happy with how it turned out!
I think I am going to give it a try. I have really been missing having a jump at home and that one looks fancy. It looks like it can hold up forever.
those mountains near 3:15 look unreal. great video!

Thanks for the great plan! I know what I am building this weekend!
You should make a teeter totter that can lock into place for a jump
Thank you! I’ve come into the possession of a bunch of scrap wood, and have been trying to come up with ideas for it
So awesome, thanks Ryan and family.. will be building tomorow, will go good along side the manual machine/bike stand!
