  • Frank talk about experiences of bullying in the NHS over the past thirty years. I hope this resonates with people who have experienced similar issues to me. I also hope that anyone who has never worked in the NHS will find it illuminating. To the bullies- maybe this will make you think

I used to go off sick anytime I couldn't look at my manager. GP hands out fit notes like paracetamol.

Unfortunately managers do run their departments like their private fiefdoms.
Sometimes it’s like fighting against the Sante fe ring, how far do you have to go up the chain of command to find someone with a conscience.

Yep. Problem is, as a ward manager myself, I know that, even if you do have a conscience it's almost impossible to get someone sacked or disciplined. HR are so underfunded within the organisation that they're like useless, toothless dogs! We did have a ward manager (absolute bully) who got promoted to matron and then demoted for bullying so that made me smile!

Hard for me to see how funding has anything to do with the problem.
All it should take is for HR to do its job.
For professional standards to be upheld and NHS values followed.

@@custossecretus5737 Well, when you have three HR officers covering 4000 employees- that makes it hard for any real service to be supplied

*We will continue to vote Tory , they are doing an excellent job on crime control.*

Hmm, I think you'll find that crime rates have fallen around the world year on year for the past forty years or so. Not sure it's the tories who are responsible for that
