In 1994 I played sitar at Ud Abdul Kareem Ks 's grave with Khansahib's great grandson Shri Nishikant Barodekar on tabla. The grave is in the courtyard of a darga in Miraj, India. We played at midnight. Following our performance Nishikant showed me Khansahib's grave and the grave of his wife.
Incredible! My dear father's favorite singer was Ustad Abdul Karim Khan sb. He would tell me of the time when he went all the way to Poona to listen to him and even took some lessons from him. My father passed away just last month at the age of 97 and he would listen to his songs as far back as I can recall. He would record his songs relayed by All India Radio. Because of his affection for ustad AKK, he also would enjoy Hirabai Barodekar and RoshanAra begum songs too. He also enjoyed Fayyaz Khan, Nazakat Ali/Salamat Ali, Sharif Khan Poonchwaley, Ravi Shankar and Bismillah Khan- all of whom he rated very highly. I would always sit with him and listen to all these people's songs with him. He always rated Ustad AKK as the best ever. Today, viewing Lutfullah Khan saheb's talk reminds me of all those times and reinforces my belief in my father's discerning abilities.
Lutfullah Khan Saheb's unmatched archives of legendary musicians, poets, and writers is a treasure for posterity. It must be converted into a museum and cokasdufued as a Heritage under United Nation's protection.

Ustad AKK was the Guru of the Guru to Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, the descendant of the Kiran’s Gharana. I have heard first hand praises from Pandit Bhimsen Joshi about Ustad AKK. I believe he sang a fusion of Hindustani -Carnatic at the palace of Mysore in presence of the Maharaja. There is a recording of that on an LP. If someone has access to that, please post it
