The giant black trunk growing from Godwyn having eyes with eyeballs is really interesting, and the tree next to it being possibly the great tree, damn I really love this area. Nice video!
Did you know that Theory: Bloodborne veil torn asunder guy and Elden Ring become lord guy were covered in blood by a revived isshin Elden Ring Become lord is not canon, but maybe the protagonist is and he existed, just that he did not die. Let's call him BLG. BLG didn't die so he didn't receive grace and is a vagabond wandering a foreign land doing stuff. Patches was at like a bonfire with others travellers and told BLG about the lands between, about Melina, Placidusax, godrick, Margit, even showing videos of locations, builds and bosses. Patches even let BLG try out some builds and gave him a no death mod. Afterwards at night for several days after hearing stuff about the lands between. BLG slept and dreamt about what could have happened if he did indeed went there. When BLG awoke, Patches paid BLG to join him for 5h. Veil torn asunder guy (call him VTA) is in an asslyum when patches and BLG finds him. Patches uses a mod to give the insane VTA guy eyes and gives him tonics of forgetfulness to forget the great one stuff he was involved in. Patches sent them to Archdragon peak where he warned them of a battle. Patches hands BLG a high level elden ring build whilst giving VTA Bloodborne armour. Patches was apparently paid by Gideon to bring VTA and BLG here. Using mods patches gave him, Gideon revived isshin who Gideon paid to pour blood on VTA and BLG, something even isshin is confused by. Gideon kills isshin and proceeds to shoot VTA and BLG using a mod that turns him into an armoured core. They obviously kill Gideon who respawns in the lands between. Patches quietly runs away stranding VTA and BLG in dark souls iii.
1:14 seemingly adds more weight to something I assumed was likely. If you go to the Yellough Anix Tunnel where Astel Stars of Darkness is, and mark his meteor's location on the map, it would penetrate into Deeproot Depths. I expect at one point, there was going to be a bit more to connect those elements together, especially with the Nameless Eternal City here being the ruined one that Astel stole the artifical sky from - but that sky isn't in the Yellough Anix Tunnel, it's past the Lake of Rot with Astel Naturalborn of the Void. Those interconnected parts would make a lot more sense woven together more directly, and the upper area to the right when facing Godwyn's arena (with the hole the Rune Bear is in) seems like it's got a lot of the similar unfinished elements of the cliffs around Mohgwyn Palace, where that wasnt kept in place. That kinda stuff was probably just really early gestures of ideas rather than anything truly planned, but always neat to see little interconnected bits and pieces that match to some lingering design stuff that doesn't quite feel finished in the final game. Spectacular hunting and showcase as always!
I believe it was Zullie who had a video on a prior version of Deeproot Depths. In it, there was a path that led from the Nameless Eternal City to the Snowfields, along with possible Stone Coffins acting as steps to climb up to the surface of the snowfields. The river running through the mountaintops and snowfields seems to also feed the river flowing under deeproot depths as well
Oh dearest Gwyndolin 2.0, another lovely video. Isn't it fun how the Greattree stump has those prevalent vines crawling up it--- and yet NONE appear on the Erdtree >_>
Remember the Erdtree is an illusion created by the Grace of Gold. Some have theorized that people who can't see grace can't actually see the erdtree either.
I love these out of bounds videos, *especially* when you do stuff like turning off the fog so we can see everything! It’s an older game no one cares about anymore, and it might not be feasible, but I’d give anything for you to do a video like this one about the raid area Vault of Glass in Destiny. That level was really creepy and spooky with a lot of it shrouded in fog and strange textures, it would be fantastic to see it all lit up clearly.
godwyn's eyes have always seemed to me not just growths, but representations of his sight and connection with and into the spiritual 'beyond' of the lands between, or possibly his sight into the corporeal world FROM said 'beyond', going to show just how terrifyingly powerful he really is. a speculation of mine that seems to be strengthened by the DLC, as not only do deathbirds wield deathblight, but so do divine beast dancing lions who commune with denizens of the 'higher spheres', is that deathblight was not CREATED by godwyn, but instead was brought back INTO the lands between. this means that godwyn communed with the god of deathblight, presumably the twinbird's god, and that he was subsequently consumed by its powers. taking all of that into account and considering that these eyes and their effects have devastated the lands between, consider this; who is really in control? the greater will is nowhere to be seen, but the god of death and its putrid prince can be seen in every corner of the lands between
It's cool to see how accurately the Ainsel River and Lake of Rot are placed relative to the Deeproot Depths' void! That makes me curious about something else though -- a few months back, a friend of mine saw a blue map marker out in the void, yet the only markers he had placed were for Farum Azula in the opposite direction. If at least one area of Deeproot is very cohesive with the rest of the map, why would that map marker be there? Regarding the towering part of the Erdtree at Deeproot, I think that might be a taproot rather than the Erdtree's trunk. Other roots are growing out of the ceiling, so it's probably not meant to be the trunk itself. As for the "greattree", very skilled fan translators like Lokey Dark Souls and Last Protagonist have investigated the matter, and it seems like the "greattree" is just the product of a mistranslation. In the Japanese script, the Erdtree is only ever called the "golden tree" or the "great tree" interchangeably. Even in the English script, the Finger Reader at the Capital Outskirts refers to the Erdtree as "The great tree which begets the pillars of light." The Crucible Knights appear to consider the Crucible and the Erdtree as the same too, rather than one replacing or parasitizing the other, and Siluria's Tree indicates that the Crucible is a tree. There are some theories that the "monk and saplings" statues on the road to Leyndell represent the Crucible and the "monk and single sapling" statues at the Roundtable Hold/Fortified Manor depict a post-Crucible era where all but the center sapling were pruned. However, a close examination of the central and single saplings respectively reveals that the flower is bigger and blooming more for the central sapling, suggesting that the multiple saplings statue depicts a later, not an earlier, event. Thanks again for these nuanced looks at Elden Ring's areas! I hope you had a Happy Halloween!
I vaguely remember hearing about mistranslations in Ranni's cutscene a while back, but somehow these findings about the Great Tree translation managed to slip by me. Thanks for sharing these insights, and happy Halloween to you as well! 🧡🎃
Well you just gave me an idea Do other areas suddenly pop in when near their respective coffins and other stuff that teleports you(bellfries, farum azula from mountaintops during cutscene)
I thought so too. I *think* someone has a video roughly showing the tree and roots lining up, though its not 100% accurate. If not, we definitely need one!
I haven't seen a video of this done yet so I am wondering if you are able to do a compilation of all the neat stuff we wouldn't see normally? Like out of bounds stuff/invisible stuff. Some examples are the Shaded Castle underneath. I fell through the map in a modded play through and it looks like there is a fully made castle but just sunken which makes sense given the lore. Volcano Manor rafters. I spent so long on my first play through trying to discover if there is a way up there. It just seems like you are able to walk around the castle like Stormveil so maybe at one point in development this was intended? I swear at one point the ravine frozen waterfall in the Snowfield that goes into the consecrated snowfield (Magma Wyrm spot) used to be a place for graves so we could go down with torrent. I've looked at other wall grave spots and I swear it looks like they built it the same but later changed it.
There are theories that the Land of Shadow was part of the main continent of The Lands Between, that was literally cut out and banished to the Shadow Realm buy Marika. Would it be possible to tell the game to load both maps at the same time? To see how well the two lands fit together.
I'm so curious that I used a no dead cheat and jumped into some elevator shafts to look whats down there. And (suprise, suprise) there is nothing. It's just a shaft with nothing at the bottom xD

Main thing I note from this area: How did they get Godwyn down there to start? If memory serves, there's not actually a path there, until an Astel smashes a hole to it's path. Other note? Curious what Deeproot Depths looked like pre-... Collapse? Whatever happened to it. Looks like there was an entire fortress or city there, once, and when we get there, it's basically just sunken scraps.
Well Dont they return dead people to the roots of the erdtree And i would think that the erdtree has grown since godwyn died So what if he was just pushed down there by the tree's roots
Yep, I think I was the first who came to the idea the Erdtree is grafted onto the stump of Greattree. They are misaligned, in such a way the Erdtree center is somewhere close to the Greattree edge - just like in gardening grafting process where the grafted sapling is pushed into a notch made between the bark and the wood of the 'base' stump.
I love the deeproot depth and the lore bits from there, but most of the area feels so rushed/unfinished. The Prince of Death throne seems too big (even for the Fortissax fight, maybe at one point they planned a Godwyn fight), while the rest of the area feels rather small.
The entire concept and story behind Godwyn the golden deeply unsettles me. And given how invested I’ve become in the game it’s actually worse. Super frustrating and upsetting. That’s why I leave ranni underneath manus celus and pick either perfect order or dusk ending
@@ZakaiazailI do not get the ranni simping, her ambition caused what might be the greatest threat to the lands between in the form of the prince of death. @blizzardgaming7070 there are two types of people looking to do Ranni's ending. 1. Ranni Simps 2. People thinking it's the best choice for the world. Think about the other solutions. Perfect order creates the golden order but perfect. Meaning no more mistakes , but does not undo older mistakes. Omens are still mistreated, those who live in death are still hunted. She promises free will. Something I personally hold near and dear. The fate of the lands between will be determined by people living in it rather than a God who couldn't give two shits.
@Messmer-The-Impaler-n8i three of the elden lord endings are better for the lands betweenn than Ranni's as there is a lord to fill the power vacuum left by the demigods. Ranni's ending just has her take the role of god and live on the moon with her consort, filling the slot so no other empyrean can ascend but leaving no one to lead the lands between out of the events of the game. Ranni's ending effectively does what Goldmask's ending does but without a lord to pick up the pieces and leaving the lands between *completely* at the mercy of the outer Gods. Goldmask's rune specifically prevents empyreans from ascending, the mistreatment of the Omen came from Marika's hatred of the Hornsent. I can kinda see why some people think it could be better than Lord Of Frenzy and Age of Despair but it nowhere near the best ending.
Damn, didn't think that this area would be so big. I'm wondering how much all the assets left that the player can't even see (like the lake of rot or the erdtree) affect the game perfomances. The only tree is the Crucible, born when the Elden ring fell on the lands beetween, which later became the Erdtree when Marika sealed away destined death (this last part i don't know if it's confirmed but it's the most likely at least)

I have a theory that the Deeproot depths are at the top of the scadu tree. because the lands of shadow fell under the lands between when Marika shattered th Erd tree. the central pillar of the Scadu tree it split as if struck yet the top of the tree is seemingly level with the horizon.
@MrandMrsQuack I'm aware, but go to the suppression tower and look at the tree then. No sun but you can see stars but they blink in sequence like a pulse. Just wierd things I saw.
Aside from the areas that are inaccessible, is there a list of spots that are largely empty in ER? Like all those little parts you explore, only to find it's a useless dead end, or a spot that feels like something should be there?
I do plan on covering other Fromsoftware games for sure, I'm also keeping an eye on the development of Bloodborne Emulation on Pc which looking to be promising so far.
I’m confused what were we exactly comparing to in the size comparison there was something in front on the erdtree but i couldn’t see it because of the glow
That's the version of the Erdtree after the Frenzied Flame Ending, It was there from my previous video so i just included it since it's an Erdtree as well.
Dear Kami Sensei, I wanted to point out that the Great Tree theory is false: it's based on a wrong occidental translation. Triying to summarise from memory: the Great Tree it's in Japanese nothing but another name of the Erdtree, as in other place the terms refer without doubt to the latter, but for some reason in the translation of the Root Resin description are treated as as they refer to differnt entity. Source (it's in Italian but better than nothing): th-cam.com/video/z1pSQve1fYk/w-d-xo.html Have a nice day
So the erdtree himself ist kinda Alive ITS Like hello ranni would U please come with me top kill the true final Boss ot the Game? But sadly she wont :( Great Video but i Miss the hollow knight theme :D
I’d love to see if you could find where the Fell Twins fight happens and remove the fog of darkness
And light up the arena like people have done for the Abyss in DS1
If you do that you get a giant skybox made of PNGs of George Lopez
Uhh yes!!

I have a theory that the Deeproot depths are at the top of the scadu tree. because the lands of shadow fell under the lands between when Marika shattered th Erd tree. the central pillar of the Scadu tree it split as if struck yet the top of the tree is seemingly level with the horizon.
Would explain the veil and (I believe) lack of sun, bcs this would mean the land of shadow is underground
@@charlietr9815 Plus it sort of parallels the Nox being forced underground.
Cool theory but it seems very unlikely
@MrandMrsQuack I'm aware, but go to the suppression tower and look at the tree then. No sun but you can see stars but they blink in sequence like a pulse. Just wierd things I saw.
@@charlietr9815 You can see the sun very well from upper Rauh, and the moon is generally visible.
this is the stuff i need!
Does anyone else see a resemblance of Godwyn’s eye-tree and Messmer’s Abyssal Serpent form,
My understanding is the Great Tree/Erdtree thing stems from a translation error. It is more clear there was only 1 tree in Japanese.
Aside from the areas that are inaccessible, is there a list of spots that are largely empty in ER? Like all those little parts you explore, only to find it's a useless dead end, or a spot that feels like something should be there?
Could you make a video by showing what's on the earth tree?
Will you switch to other soulsborne or soulslike when you finish with elden ring? I would love to see this type of videos with Ds3 and armored core ❤❤
I do plan on covering other Fromsoftware games for sure, I'm also keeping an eye on the development of Bloodborne Emulation on Pc which looking to be promising so far.
Depth, roots, deepness....
Can you show us where the opening cinematic happens?
I’m confused what were we exactly comparing to in the size comparison there was something in front on the erdtree but i couldn’t see it because of the glow
That's the version of the Erdtree after the Frenzied Flame Ending, It was there from my previous video so i just included it since it's an Erdtree as well.
Dear Kami Sensei,
I wanted to point out that the Great Tree theory is false: it's based on a wrong occidental translation. Triying to summarise from memory: the Great Tree it's in Japanese nothing but another name of the Erdtree, as in other place the terms refer without doubt to the latter, but for some reason in the translation of the Root Resin description are treated as as they refer to differnt entity.

Have a nice day
what is this mask u wearing in the video ? :O
Its just filler so that it doesnt look weird visually. FOr as massive as the game is, the maps make it look like 25% bigger at least
Great Tree = Erdtree; translation error in English version
How the hell am I on my 3rd playthrough and have still never seen the deeproot depths???
Bro has missed out on two bosses and one ending
So the erdtree himself ist kinda Alive
ITS Like hello ranni would U please come with me top kill the true final Boss ot the Game?
But sadly she wont :(
Great Video but i Miss the hollow knight theme :D
What’s that background track?
All songs used are included in the description 😊
What helmet is that?
How deep under ground is it?
