- This is a very special episode where I meet up with well known TH-cam personality, The Orchid Doc. We pay a visit to the grow houses of Bredren Orchids in central Florida. I interviewed orchid specialist and cultivator Philip Hamilton, son of legendary Jamaican orchid grower Claude Hamilton of Hamlyn Orchids in Kingston, Jamaica. This special trip is a 2 day trip to Apopka to visit Bredren Orchids and Krull-Smith Orchids. I bring The Orchid Doc from Jamaica with me on this wonderful excursion full of orchid fun, education, tips on growing, amazing blooms to the eyes can see. That was really entertaining. Good to see you both and I enjoyed the interview with Mr. Hamilton. He was very informative. Did he say that his dad was scaling down? So sad, I do hope that someone will be carrying the mantle here in Jamaica. I find that when I buy an orchid from Mr. Claude Hamilton my orchid has a better chance of survival than other growers.

There are so many beautiful orchids in this greenhouse. The cattleya was were really showing off. 🤣 I really enjoyed the video and look forward to part 2. Hi! We did have so much fun. But we were only able to do Bredren Orchids one day and Krull-Smith the next. We didn’t have enough time to visit the other 2 nurseries I had in mind. Ecuagenera was one of the ones we missed. There is always next year🤗💚 You are gonna really love Day 2. I’ll be posting it this week very soon.

I am curious to learn what type of wood Phillip Bredren uses to mount his Catleyas on. I have a few that need repotting and thought I'd start looking for the wood now. I feed 20-20 .
I dont see Cymbidium orchids in my local stores - and orchids nursery.
