Approximately 73% of the Borneo island is Indonesian territory. In the north, the East Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak make up about 26% of the island. The sovereign state of Brunei, located on the north coast, comprises about 1% of Borneo's land area. It is the only island in the world to be politically administered by three countries at a time LOL.
Im from this area. Mount kinabalu is only 3 hours drive. While i often not appreciate my state enough, everytime i pass gunung kinabalu, i always long for a property there. Im not ashamed to admit my honeymoon i only spent 4 days on ranau and kundasang. I dont evwn want to go anywhere else. The perks of living here is i dont need to spend lots of money for holidays. The only thing is i need to collect enough money to buy good durians and buy plants that my cute wife wants. Hahah
The nearest airport you can find is Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) which is located at Kota Kinabalu town. It takes around 2-3 hrs drive to get to Mount Kinabalu which located in Ranau. You welcome!
