Hey, thank you for featuring my Thanos! You did a great job with the painting, I think. It's a process that I just don't want to deal with myself, which is why I give my models the simplest possible treatment, so it's always great to see more skilled painters do something like this with my models :) Especially since my models aren't really designed with painting in mind, in particular with the concave irises of the eyes that are meant to create a sense of depth, but which can create issues when painting.
@@cybernetix86 It doesn't need supports if you have decent cooling. There might be a little bit sagging under the "belly" and chin, but it's definitely nothing that will ruin the print.
I love this! I’ve just printed it myself and about to start painting! I love your rat pirate I will be 100% getting it over the next week or so! Love your work.
Thank you so much for posting. At the very beginning I see you sanding the raw 3d printed model with something other than sand paper...what is it, where can I get it and how do I use it correctly. Your videos are fantastic and help a retired old guy like me enjoy my hobbies with my new Zortrax M300 FDM printer...thanks again
Love it joe. You remind me of B.A out of the A team as he always made stuff which was kick ass...oh and no matter where he was trapped he always seemed the have a welder in his baxk pocket lol.ive only just started air brushing my models but my baby groot came out fantastic
Joe you sir are an artist I wish I would have the ability or even the Patients to take on something like this. I recently repainted my car and that is one color. I think what you did would take much more work and skill thanks. for a very great video it was so awesome to watch you paint.
Hi Joe, great paint video as always. I do love these print and paint videos, like me I only get to do these things at the weekend due to family and work commitments. Looking forward to your next video :)
a 7 day print, but what about 0.05mm layer height? Primer fill should do most of the work then. It'd help with the difficult-to-sand nook and cranny spaces. Alternatively, if time is a factor -- maybe variable layer height to tweak it for the most tricky places (in Slic3r and Slic3r Prusa edition).
Looks pretty decent to me! I think that black paint/sanding method would be great for creating an artificial ambient occlusion effect if you were only using a light coats of something on top, or even if it was already the right colour. Sure it could be integrated in to the process somehow any way! Either way though, end result still looks pretty swish! Nice work!
Looks great as usual. Painting is something I have never tried and am a little intimidated by. Might have to give it a shot at some point but I'd hate to waste money on an airbrush, brushes, primer, paints, etc. and end up smashing it all with a mallet! :P
Truth is, you have to start somewhere, so don’t overspend if you are unsure but give it a go anyway :) you will learn as you go along, same as I still do :)
I got notification on and only get notified about %30 of the time. Really not sure why TH-cam is tubing around with the bell. Traffic redirection would be my guess. Anyways thanks Joe, it looks great ! 👍
Sorry to sound negative but there is something about the "weathering" that looks a bit off. What did you try to achieve ? dirty or shadows? shadows assume light from a fixed direction and dirt comes from either top of bottom. Also shadows are usually darker tints of the same color while dirt can be anything as long its relative even.
Do you also hand paint (with the brushes) with the same Vallejo paint you use in the airbrush? I just picked up the badger airbrush from the link in your other video. Can you do a maintenance video, on things like how to clean it and stuff? I am clueless, and their is no great videos. Can not wait to get into airbrushing! Please paint a Star Wars model. I just modeled a pair if Han Solo's dice from the movie. I am going to airbrush them, and connect a chain to them. First model project!
Hi there. Great tutorial there. I have a question. I am having a 3D model made as a gift for a friend from a professional 3D model shop. I will need to have it painted by a hired artist. I was wondering, if I should have the model printed either in grayscale or in colour? Does it matter at all? I was thinking so the artist will have a reference to what colours to paint the model. I want to have the model look more smooth and cleaner like your final model.
Really good job Joe. To bad Thanos didn't use his power differently. I think he could have easily used it to make more food instead of killing half of the people.
Note to myself : Never check your Social Media before going to bed. You may end up sacrificing 12 minutes of Sleep 😅. But all worth it. Good job Sir 👍🏼👍🏼
Got any videos showing what a better job you can do in an hour? That can teach me? If you wanna challenge people to improve themselves be constructive not destructive ;)
@@3DMakerNoob Why one hour? It's both arbitrary and objectively too short. So you got your first lesson then: Do not rush it. Go do something else, defocus and refocus to recognize your mistake. Second, your techniques are applicable for very small figurines. The way you finish the face would be perfect if it was 2 times smaller than this. If the face is bigger, sometimes you have to let the natural shadow to show the details. Also sanding by hand, as you might experience, may not be the best way for the neck area, use a small dremel head to reach those places. I really liked the way you made eyes, but you didn't use the same brush for every other details, that was weird. I can only state this much.
Unfortunately having a full time and having to spend time with my family I have limited time to dedicate to airbrushing, so it’s usually 1 hour, maximum 2 on a sunday morning then another hour of editing. I make due with the time I have

It’s a beautiful model and I plan on doing all the others you created :) they definitely deserve to be showcased :)
Good job with the model! It's printable without supports?!

Man, did your deadpool bust(28cm height), looks great!

Fantastic job man! You did a seriously good job on painting that. Skin tones (even purple ones) are hard to do and you did a great job on it!
Thanks Buddy, gonna be honest, i was scared that i'd get the die hard fans bashing me for not getting it right lol
Love the Air-Brush work you’re doing lately! Keep them coming.
Nice paint job! I loved both the gold and skin tone
i definitely need to learn how to paint my 3D printed things, this looks amazing, great job!
Really nice detail work - those eyes make it.
Thank you :)
That sculpt (and your painting) is spot on. Very nice work!!
Thank you :)
absolutely stunning paint/model
Nice work.
Great color choices. I use a microfiber for the wipes or a tissue paper. Less on my fingers and avoids color transfers. Really l nice job
Incredible paint work! I absolutely love the end result.
Nice paint! And certainly the models of David are always awesome his bust models rocks!
Well done Joe, as always.
Thanks buddy

Great job, well done.
Amazing work.
Thank you
Mine just finished printing. Came out perfectly, just gotta attempt to paint it now. Kinda afraid I'll ruin it though.
Really cool Joe - Thanks!

Looks great. I use sanding files for small details also. Great work.
didn't even occur to me to use those hehe

That would probably work very good with a chrome filament actually, great idea

Thanks buddy, shame youtube is messing up so much lately :(
Great work dude!
cheers buddy :)
Just a little more of shaders! But good work. Take a look on my paints...
Great video! I always like to be inspired to break out my airbrush kit.
Sickkk work
Thank you
Hi! Great painting job! Please suggest me what kind of paint can I buy from China AliExpress or Gearbest...
A impressão do meu thanos ficou ruim passei massa mais nao adiantou, na hora da impressão ele fica liso ?
You should get some water color pens. A lot easier to do eyes and fine details. They give pretty good coverage and don't bleed.
Very good idea!
Wow, nice job
Thanks for sharing😀👍
Thank you :)

not sounding negative, constructive criticism is what helps me learn more :)
Looks cool. I've got acrylics and brushes, don't think my hands are steady enough for an air brush.
Chamomile tea will help ;)
I wish it were that easy. More like spinal surgery which scares me to death.
Nice model and painting! Can i ask what kind of sandpaper are you using? is like abrasive foam #800?

Yes I use the same paint although sometimes I also use the undiluted version for a thicker coat. And will definitely do a video on cleaning :)
Thanks
Slt super t'est réalisations 👍 questions STP comment tu as fait ton plateaux tournent
Oddly enough I am painting a few pieces that I printed while watching you do the same.

Now you have a brother :P Great job!

The badger 200-9 airbrush you put in the link is out of stock until December. Is the 200-10 good also. That one is in stock.
Yes that’s also good, just a slightly updated version which is better :)
Just bought it then saw your comment. I'm so impatient!
Thanks
I was fun to watch :)
Hey, what number is for Thanos face on Vallejo Air ?
Wow what settings profile do you have on your Prusa? The print came out INSANELY clean for being so complicated and detailed
Are you going to post on minifactory? I'm sure everyone will love to see it there
yes of course :)
amazing!
is the pait and sand process for you to see all the lines clearly and getting them sand down?
Ok ok I got to the end and you explain :) thanks !
How did print this without supports on the chin?!
What make and colour name is the purple please?
Sir will you make ironman holding gauntlet for me
what did you use to make the antique effect on the golden part?
do you do 3d prints for other people??

Does this bust require supports?
no
why does your mk3 print bad? (I mean the lines that go side to side, I've seen some flawless mk3s, is it the extruder problem?)
the eyes totally look like Josh Brolin

Great job. I love busts! I invite you to see my Ironman bust at my channel. I will print one like yours soon and a T-800 too, for sure. Good video.
THANOS CAR
What camera are you using for the time lapse?
You should wear a mask when sanding.
First!
Amateur job.
Expert toxic comment though ;)
