1:04:30 Sorry if it's too late to say this but lmao 😭 Soñar was a pre release just like Roller coaster, the actual title track was Dash Loved your reaction ❤
SERIOUSLY!!! the song did not DESERVE THAT and I will die on that hill. Anyone who dislikes O.O and tells me that, I send them a stage performance 😂 - Rae
While Young Dumb Stupid sounds like conforming to the GP expectations, it subverts them. The message, not so subtly, is: we're newbies, we will do mistakes, but they're _our_ mistakes to make; stop telling us what we should be doing, and let us enjoy our group's childhood. Then there is the incorporation of Frere Jacques, which a lot of people hated, but... do people hate being childish (in the best possible way) that much? Yes, LMLT is the first title track after Jinni/Jini left. YDS was a pre-release track on the same album. Also, look up the video called "NMIXX members reaction when LILY dropped a HUGE comeback spoiler". It is just one minute long, and it is absolutely hilarious. "Hey you bastards, I'm still here" is a quote from the movie Papillon, based on the autobiography of the titular character. Papillon is wrongfully sentenced to a hellish prison island, but despite the efforts of his jailers, he never gets broken, never stops trying to escape. The final scene of the movie is Papillon on a makeshift raft, surrounded by the ocean, survival unknown but finally free, yelling out his defiance with that quote. Spoiler: he does make it to the land, and lives out the rest of his life as a free man. The Dash MV is based around the concept of prison break, metaphorically again linking it to the group being told what to do by the society, and them refusing the mainstream and embracing the weird. They shout out their defiance to the people who predicted their downfall in the industry. Fe₃O₄ is the chemical formula of black iron oxide, also known as magnetite. NMIXX clarified that using it in the album name is intended to show their magnetic charms that will attract the fans; the second part of the album title to show the resolve to break any stereotypes and obstacles that the society aims to impose at them. MVs are fun, but you really should see the recently-released "엔믹스 (NMIXX) : Tiny Desk Korea". all the stage practices (not dance practices, the difference is important) and all the a capella (or voice only) highlight medleys. They started doing the stage practices and a capella highlight medleys a couple of albums back, and they have been a much-awaited part of every NMIXX album release since. As for the Tiny Desk performance, I saw it highly praised by an live sound engineer somewhere, saying that what they did there is bonkers for an idol group, and they are not aware anyone else has attempted it: singing live in front of the audience, with live music, significantly rearranged from their recorded versions, with no in-ear monitors, with the band right behind them going full-blast, with super sensitive microphones that pick up even the sound of their mouths opening, in a single take, with zero effects on the mike, and zero postprocessing. Even shows that advertise as being live (e.g. "It's Live") do do postprocessing, let singers have in-ear monitors, and have the band a dozen metres behind the singers. They end their mini-essay with "I honestly don't know how anyone could design a live stage that was more difficult for an idol group". They are also regulars on Lee Mujin Service, which summons the best vocalists from the industry. They just go in age order. Five out of six have appeared on the show, and everyone fully expects Kyujin to show up there too. If you get sucked in, check out their covers and individual performances as well. For example, if you guys like Blackpink, you will love their Kill This Love cover - and if you _don't_ like Blackpink, you will _totally_ love their Kill This Love cover. Or, or, or, look at Kyujin's cover of Rosé's On The Ground. Kyujin, their main dancer and lead rapper maknae.
That’s actually really sweet when you think about it as the song them wanting to enjoy their groups childhood. We all do make mistakes when we’re young. We’ll definitely check out the Lily spoiler video! That’s epic about Dash! It totally makes sense. The concept is really awesome. Oooooh that’s what the album title is about! That’s really epic. I like the double meaning. We’ll definitely add their tiny desk Korea and stage practices to the list! I, Michi, hadn’t heard of these but they sound awesome and I’m excited. That tiny desk Korea especially sounds impressive! Haha okay definitely adding the Kill This Love cover. It’s a personal favorite song of mine so I’m HYPED about the cover. We’ll also look into Lee Mujin Service! That’s really cool most of them have done it! Thank you so much for the comment! Can’t wait to check out all your suggestions 😊💙 - Michi
Nswer here! I only found out about Nmixx about a year ago so I’m fairly new and I don’t have a full grasp of their lore but I do know that the theme of dreaming/waking up and the ocean is sewn throughout the lore. Apparently they were taking a ship to get to Mixxtopia and got shipwrecked. Mixxtopia being a place where diversity and being different is greatly accepted. Something called monopole (represented by the color green) is continuously trying to stop them from getting there. Their newer music having themes of pushing forward through barriers: Dash, Run For Roses, Break the Wall, Red Light Sign But We Go. I think anytime they are sleeping they get glimpses of Mixxtopia (the cloud world/pink world). In the start of LMLT they are waking up. The title of one of their EPs being Midsummer Nmixx’s Dream. Soñar meaning to dream. So yeah, there are plenty of dream references as well. They have recently dropped some story videos called Outsiders Club which are still confusing, but you get the idea that they are acknowledging their “weirdness” in this music industry and are choosing to embrace it. Byeol, Byeol, Byeol (See That) has a double meaning in Korean. It means star or weird depending on the context. They say yeah, everyone thinks we are weirdos but we are actually stars. Anyways, I’ve gone on longer than I thought I would. Hope this helps a bit.
That’s so interesting! That’s so cool that they are all connected! Thank you so much for the explanation!! I can’t wait to see where they go. The double meaning of their title is so unique and perfectly them. - Michi
A lot of Nmixx comebacks seem to be inspired by books/films. I'm not sure about all of them but I once saw a list saying the order would be: Dice - Alice in Wonderland Love me Like This - The Wizard of Oz Party O'Clock - A Midsummer Night's Dream Dash - Papillon ("Hey you bastards I'm still here" is actually a quote from there, very fitting choice)
Great video! I love Nmixx, it's my fav group right now, but I feel like you need to see live performances to appreciate nmixx, idk maybe their title tracks don't send the message enough. (?) idk That being said I would highly recommend the Tiny Desk (uncorrected mics) or one of the stage practices they've done since Love Me Like This (singing + dancing)!
Thank you so much!! With as much as Tiny Desk has been requested we decided that it’s mandatory for us coming up. Thank you for the recommendations! 😄💙
Ppl who dislike O.O is understandable because their lore isn’t out yet and ppl don’t understand Once you understand their direction and lore, every song just make sense To keep everything short and simple is They are in the mission of mixing Utopia and Dystopia So that is why you see the sudden shift of styling within 0.0 Also, Love me like this isn’t totally don’t have mix pop, it you listen carefully, still have some level of mix genre going on
Oooh mixing Utopia and Dystopia makes so much sense! You’re right it does make the videos make a lot more sense! I’ll go back and give it another listen for Love Me Like This! Thank you for the comment! 😊 - Michi
And I’m very glad we did. A few songs definitely made my playlist and I have a much better appreciation for them! If you have any other suggestions we’re all ears! - Michi
@@K-PopVoyage Then I'm gonna have to recommend Kiss of Life. If you have time, the order could go from Sugarcoat, Countdown, Kitty Cat, Play Love Games (Their SOLOs) - order is important because their debut MVs have a story Then Bye My Neverland and Shh - Where all their stories come together. Then Bad News & Nobody Knows followed by Midas Touch, Sticky, and Te Quiero Performance Vid (Highly recommend because one of their members co-composed it) and that about wraps up Kiss of Life before their October 15 comeback
@@gen-seolyoona So hilariously enough Kiss of Life was our true first reaction! It was on our old channel and i'll link it below. I'm (Michi) actually seeing KIOF in Seoul on the 27th! :) We still need to react to Te Quiero but we definitely plan on revisiting after their comeback! We're on a tiny break for health reasons, but we'll be back soon! th-cam.com/video/dmfyhZXAAAE/w-d-xo.html
See That was a FU to all the haters. Starting with the popping of the soda can, calling back to all the crap they got for the coke sponsorship on their debut (which was stupid of jyp ngl), and the whole theme of being yourself and "who cares" etc. See That is probably my fav NMIXX track, but they have so many! Their Tiny Desk performance is a must watch, with their supreme vocal talent on point.
39:51 The t-shirt originally had:
C - harisma
U - niqueness
N - erve
T - alent
😂😂😂 honestly that makes it so much better 100/10 - Rae
I knew something was weird. 😂😂😂 - Michi
40:43 yes, it was their first win. Their next win was for Dash
Awesome! Thanks for confirming!
i really love the way you guys talk about kpop. it's just full of information and not just a crap 🤣
Awww thank you! We’re big kpop nerds so we love talking about all the info we know. 😊💙
