- Hi my friends!
In this episode I travel to Sweden and interview one of the executives of a leading Swedish flightschool.
The interview is based on the questions the YOU sent me. There was not enough time to cover all the questions in one interview but you can ask away in the comments below and they have promised to try and answer. If the feedback is good enough, I might do a second interview! ;)
Enjoy!

Good production quality. Very professional.
This channel has really motivated me. I have wanted to be a pilot my whole life and have gone through school giving it my absolute best try, I also have my GCSE's this year so I am studying loads. Thank you so much for making me feel like my dreams may actually become a reality one day!
Thank you so much for doing this. You covered up the most important questions and I think it really helped us out. I'm relieved and gained some fresh energy out of this. Here in Germany the pilots I spoke to always said that the market is in a really bad condition for years and that I should do something else instead. One pilot was working for Air Berlin and I understood that he was not only referring to the pay to fly system.
Very insightful and I am sure this video has helped many students/enthusiast like myself, on their journey to the Flight Deck!! Thanks Mentour Pilot
Agree.
Hey can i know you are from?
This was just amazing mentour!! I am currently taking ppl course in Honduras Central America, at the same time working on my bachelors degree. I hope I have great job opportunities after I am done with my licenses and converting them to FAA afterwards. Just to let you know ppl course here in Honduras is about 7500 US dollars for about 40-50 hours actual flight time. You are awesome Mentour! Keep it up.
This video comes in the best time EVER!!!
i am a student in sweden preparing for the pilotutbildning and my dream is coming closer and closer and i think i’ll be there soon enough.
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ for the best helpful video on TH-cam at least for me.
Hälsningar,Nour
Hi! If you want to speak to Stein and ask questions you can go into the app-chat in the Mentour Aviation app and tag @scavac.com . He will answer your questions when he can.
Good job on getting clear (or trying to) on the prices. You gave a really accurate approach on what would be needed for this school. Looking forward to what's next in store on the channel
93,000 euros sounds about right. I spent about 140,000 dollars at UND. Too bad sim time doesnt count more. It would open the door to more people with less money.
One of your best videos apart from how you became a pilot story, keep posting these great podcasts. Thank you so much Mentour Pilot!
This is so amazing ! Having you over at my school where I'm studying, but it's unlucky not to have the time to meet you in personal !!!
Thank you for all the effort you do, in order to keep us updated with information.
You are doing such a really nice job Mentour , continue the good work! Thank you
this is so awesome sir! a great work done. thank you so much!! in this video you have taught us about what questions one should ask during an enquiry in a flight school and what we should expect. really really helpful.
as always, another motivational video.
Great interview thanks :) @mentour could you answer to the question about the cost of an EASA conversion?
Awesome video! I've been watching your channel for a while now. Any chance of a video tailored towards aussies? We don't seem to get much aviation love.
I wonder, why pilots are so handsome ? 😶🙈🙊
It's not physical beauty but it is the ambition
Wow ! It is very beneficial for me to prepare how to be a pilot in the future. Thanks Mentour Pilot.
Wow Mentour, this was awesome. Very professional. I loved this video, it was very informative. Much appreciated Mentour! Stay fantastic.
Congratulations for your channel!! It is definitly a "must follow" for dreamers like me!! Keep the good work and thank you for your attention!!
UK GCSE A* to C in Maths, English and Science seems to be the requirement for many airlines.
i love piloting with all my heart
Do Turkish Aviation Academy please! Great video!
Fact: A flight school in England will cost you more than 100k euros and it will take almost 4 years to gain a pilot's licence. In Greece, it takes only 1 year and the cost is around 50k euros. Not to mention living costs etc. I only talked about tuition fees!
Thank you Mentour Pilot, awesome video as always!
I have a couple of questions:
Is it really worth going to the USA to get the licence and then come back to Europe and have to re-do the exams etc?
And the question that interests me more: I’ve always wanted to be a comercial pilot but I never had the money, and since I was doing pretty well as an engineer I kept it as a dream. Now that I’m 40 I have the money and I am very tempted to pursue that childhood dream. Should I give it a go? Or is it too late? I’m sure I’m not the only one in this situation...
Thank you very much and keep up with the good work!
I don't see how there isn't a huge shortage of pilots! Its ridiculously expensive, even more so in the US when your first job pays less than a cleaner. I have seen here in the UK that there is a little more support.
Jamie Wilson I agree it is definitely ridiculously expensive, we can get a sponsorship by various airlines
its all about passion buddy :)
way to step your game up
Great work Mentour, thank you! 😊
Hi Mentour! I'am going to an interview to this exact flight school very soon for the government sponsored program. Do you know what i can expect from the interview with the psychologist and the instructor?
So, how did it go ?
@@Rockstar6319 Chose another similar school also offering a government funded scheme, got accepted to both and finished training in June last year :)
this was a very helpful video as I am about to do my flight school assessment test in a months time, trying to cram all the mental maths skills in my head haha (doing it in Ireland btw)
thanks for the efforte you put to your channel for us!
i would be happy if somehow you could do a simular interview or anything to teach about fainancing programes in europe(france please!)
Mentour Pilot
thank you for your willing to help, but what i was meaning was that im looking for going to france to hopfuly become a pilot and your channel is my main source for intel and "how to's"(im thankful for that). i was hoping that you'll do a video about placens on europe of which the programes is founded by the goverment
Am also trying to build a company to fund training but think I have run out of time, just turned 30. Oh well grounded for now haha. Great video by the way keep it up, love all the information you provide.
30 is still young enough to start Culchie. As long as you get started before the age of 35 it shouldn't be a problem.
very professional !
Very good video! Keep up the good work :)
Hej!
@Mentour Pilot Hi I m a Network Engineer and I m also a Post Graduate in Information Technology. I have very much interest in aviation. I m 30 year old. Can I start my Pilot training and become a Pilot?
The Network Hunter You sure could. You would become a pilot at the age of roughly 40-45
@Lachlan Thank You :)
@Mentour Pilot Thank You
I'm from Lithuania. Can I still get to SAA even if I'm not from Scandinavian countries?
He answered that question already. You can, BUT you need to learn Swedish as the courses are mainly conducted in Swedish.
Hi Mentour, I am a 15 year old that goes to a high school in America (Pennsylvania)(10th Grade).
I Really want to be a pilot but i'm extremely scared that if i do chose to be one i will fail. The problem with me is I am HORRIBLE at math and therefore physics but i love everything about the career of being a pilot. also do you think it necessary to have a bachelor's degree because i don't fell like a university is my thing i'm barely pulling threw high school as it is (B-,C+) . do you think it matters what flight school you go to, like will it make a difference if i apply for a job. Finally I don't wanna be working for an airline, I think i would do better flying people in a Private jet(I believe its called flying corporate) any down sides to it.
Thanks Mentour,
Alex
(what do i do for 3 years to keep driving my passion for flying and cars)
Wow, sorry I'm replying a year later!
First of all, I'm not sure how it works in the US, but in the UK you have to have 5 GCSEs (minimum of a C in Maths, English, Science and 2 others.) That's it for the Cadet programs through CTC Aviation (L3 Training)
You can also apply with a minimum of a 2:2 degree. (I decided uni wasn't for me)
If you want to fly corporate then you'll need a CPL (Commercial Pilots Licence) possibly an ATPL if you're carrying passengers, I'm not sure as I've learnt about Airline career and not this sector.
Either way, If you go to a training school and come out the other side with a licence you'll then apply for aviation job like you would any other job.
All careers in Aviation have downsides, do your proper research before picking your field.
Drive your passion? That should be inside you naturally, your dream will do that for you.
If you wanna get ahead of the game, pick up some books on flying, try your hand at a flying simulator (FSX is pretty cheap and doesn't need a machine to run it.)
Also, frig yeah! Apply for a job! Get some life experience, earn some money!
You're going to need to find ways to show leadership, teamworking etc
Brother thanks for your videos! I have a question what its your opinion or recomendation about Phenix east aviation school in florida?
Nice setting
hey mentour great video,as always, Can you try to do somithing about italian students?
great video answered a lot of my questions. what kind of maths would you use the most as a pilot. e.g algebra, mental math or problem solving etc?
Kevin Conneely I went to an Open day for Oxford Aviation Academy and I did one of the tests, It was mainly mental maths.
Mostly simple mental maths and simple algebra. Trigonometry too for ground studies are what I have come across so far :)
thank you so much for this video podcast! :)
Very useful video! Many thanks
Which flight school did he go and became a flight instructor?
Hello Mentour. To become a pilot has been a life-goal for me and i went through a lot of hardships and sacrificed a lot of things for that. I did the aptitude test three times this year and i failed all of them. Should i say goodbye to aviation world or stick with it? I am very confused now and i am not sure what to do. I have all other requirements.
Mentour I need help! Is a cat IIIA ILS approach an autoland approach or is it only III B or C ?
Thank you, seen this a bit late but good to know i put down the right thing anyway xD
Thanks man, this was a really helpful video.
I'm 18, have almost completed my A Levels. I'm from Pakistan, we have 10-12 flying schools at max in the entire country under the CAA. None of which, are cadet pilot programs. How do I choose a flight school?
What’s the difference between OSM Aviation Academy and SAA?
thank-you very very much mentour. It was very very helpful.
Hi Mentour.
Very good video!!. What if I complete my training here will I get employment ??.
Can you do an interview with CTC Aviation Academy and CAE Oxford Aviation Academy ?.
Thank You.
I wonder if the school gets many inquiries from people wanting to book flights on South African Airways?
Great job!! Thanks so much!!
Btw loved the video and the professionalism.
Please I will like to know, what if you don't have high school certificate. is it still possible to attend the flight school .. please I will like to know
Hey Mentour can you link up with atlantic flight training academy in cork you and afta would work well together
thanks for the videos as always
Mentour ive got question. What i should read when i want to be pilot but im still studying. I tried to write to aerolines in my country but i dont have any answear :( I tried to google something but i ve found nothing. Thanks for answear.
Mentour Pilot Thank you very much for answear! :-)
This was just amazing interview sir. Thank you so much for the information.
I am planning to start my flight training in Canada, any good or bad information about Harv's air school in Steinbach, MB, Canada?
Hi,brother did u succeeded to get training there m also going there
Captain what the best and easiest way to do the aptitude test ?
Do you need English as a language or school subject?
How much does it cost to convert an FAA or TCCA or AUSSIE licence to an EASA
awesome video mentour...
Hi, i got my CPL/IR on USA and came back to my country (latin america) and got my ICAO CPL/IR.
i have about 270 Hrs
I have Italian nationality and im looking to get the EASA with frozen ATPL I dont know where to start my process and I am also trying to find out the best prices. i have a brother that lives in hamburg, germany (this help me with the housing to lower my budget if i find a school there) but I heard that in Sweden it's cheaper to do this conversion. after this i would like to get into the Ryanair cadet program.
if you have any info thanks guys
What is some of Advice your can gave the youngest man who want to be like who are as pilot
Loved it!!!
sir can you make a similar video on Emirates flight training academy please it's a request.?
+Mentour Pilot I need to ask these questions from Emirates
1) what courses do they offer?
2) what is the fee structure for an Indian student?
3) what are included in the fee structure?
4) where will they give simulation training?
5) what is the duration for the training?
6) what qualifications required for pilot training programme (academic levels)
7)any basic skills required?
8)how many months are for theory programme?
9)how to prepare pilot aptitude test?
10)does an engineering degree required for pilot training?
chayan agarwal that's what I was going to ask about tanx for putting it out there!
since I was at a open day at a flightschool some days ago thers was not that much new :( but one thing I wonder about is, what are the differences between Gouvernement sponsort and privat paid training?
Lemtrix one is basically free. The other one is not
And you get an internship at an airliner, not for linetraining but other administrative jobs.
Is there any chance that you can interview Lunds trafikflygarhögskola?
Haaaj or maybe Svensk pilotutbildning at Säve flygplats
In Pakistan you can get your CPL in 25000USD Max.
we all talk about having a physics high school equivalent. Does that mean there is no hope for an economics student with no high school physics equivalent.
Hi Isaac, there are several people in the same situation as you. Therefore we have developed an abbreviated physics course that only takes 2 weeks and can be done online. Passing this course at our school will enable you to apply to our self-sponsored integrated programs.
I don't know what other schools offer, but I am sure there are others providing similar options as well. If you would like more information about the option we provide you can send an e-mail to info@bfsaa.se.
I hope this information was helpful!
Hello mentour ! Am melissa from india am 16 n am in my 11th grade. I just want to know, other than all this academical needs ! Is there any health needs that a candidate willing to get into a flight school should meet at? If so what are those? And also i would like to know if i do my flight training here in India are there any chances to get a job somewhere in USA or Middle East?
Other solution would be to just keep renewing your US or European CPL. Same ENDS different Means and a holiday to boot!
Well done, good content
good captain il love watch video
Where can I find more information on the integrated program in Sweden with the internship for an airline? I can't find it on the website.
And how do I take an aptitude test?
www.bfsaa.se/bli-pilot/flygplan/yh-integrerad-trafikflygarutbildning?__hssc=243120157.35.1476903809031&__hstc=243120157.7e0f251caae87d793909dcce2121c9a7.1476903809030.1476903809030.1476903809030.1&__hsfp=3985989850&hsCtaTracking=dfc56389-00cf-4496-8ddf-946168a6479d%7C0817430d-9e2a-42f7-860e-951b725faef5
Information on this course is only available in swedish it seems.
Hi Kris, as Rasmus mentioned, the information about the YH Government sponsored integrated program in Sweden is only available in Swedish. The reason for this is that it is a requirement to read, speak and understand Swedish to apply for the program.
*****
Yes, I lived in Sweden for 4 years and can speak Swedish fluently; but must you be a Swedish citizen? I have a Finnish-American dual citizenship, so would it be possible to apply for it for me?
This is a huge Help...
thanks for asking my question about conversion :)
my pleasure :)
Karthik Nakul r u going to be a pilot or want to
So if a pilot with an FAA ATPL license were to seek employment in Europe, despite having their own type rating and experience, they are still required to do all 14 ATPL papers again? That seems very discouraging for American pilots.
Hi David, that is actually not true. If you have an FAA ATP and a VALID typerating + 500 hrs on type, you can convert to EASA more easily. You will still have to write the 14 ATPL(A) exams, but you get away without needing any ground school (although I would still recommend it). Thereafter all you will need is a skill test and your conversion process will be completed. There are probably examiners in the US that can assist you with the skill test for the conversion. The ATPL(A) exams could be written at our base in San Diego or at another EASA approved flight school in the US.
If you want more info on this just send an e-mail to info@bfsaa.se
I hope this was encouraging and helpful!
You can find more detailed information about the conversion requirements here:
eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:32011R1178&from=EN
Thanks for the clarification!
You're welcome David!
It's cheaper to go to a university and major in aeronautical science. You will be able to learn to fly.
Hi, I am interested in doing an Economics degree. My main goal is to become a Commercial Pilot. Would I be better to apply for flight school now or should I do the Economics degree then apply for flight school? Thanks!
Hi! I think it all depends on your attitude towards studying. I suggest you to start with both the degree and the ppl course, which could also be helpful for you to understand if flying would actually be your career.
As Stein mentions in the video, having a degree will allow you to have something to fall back on if you want to change careers later on or if recruitment is slow when you graduate. If you are convinced that becoming a pilot is what you really want however, you will be able to enter the job market sooner if you start flight training right away.
There are pro's and con's with both choices. If you are unsure we recommend attending an information event at a flight school and talking to people who are working as pilots. Listen to and seek advice, but make sure you are honest with yourself and your own wishes and ambitions for the future.
Guys don’t do your flight training in Sweden. It’s so damn expensive and the requirements are harder than other countries in Europe.
mentour pilot what is the financial issue in aviation if a person come from india
Thank you soooo much sir :)
Keep up the good work :)
Helped me a lot
Thank u for the info
no way 95 Euro its really enormous amount he destroy my dream..
Wow government sponsored 2 year program!? Man I wish the US had something like that.
oh i clicked here thinking it was south african airways. sorry mentour. I'm gonna have to go back.
95K...jesus...people, unless you have that under your bed...go modular...i'll be in a 737 in a few months now...and not even CLOSE to this ammount..its obnoxious..
Have you done a modular training?
da 42 , nice plane .
I'm Homeschooled, I'll not become a pilot because of this :(
Sweden
Who unliked thez😑😑😑
This guy is full of BS with his insistence with having almost engineering math ability. Simply not true.
What is some of Advice your can gave the youngest man who want to be like who are as pilot
Focus on school and start looking for ways to train to become a pilot as early as possible. The better prepared you are the easier it will be.
Good luck!
