    The ultimate Rush song for me! My numero uno! This is my favorite live version as well...Howie with the amazing job on lights...just a sublime begining and then it doesn't let up for 4 amazing passages with a guitar solo in the middle that not too many fans talk about as one of his best, which I think it is...Neils work is top tier for him and Geddy just delivers an amazing vocal performance in this one...and the bass outro is iconic for the live show...and finishes with his own cymbal hit!🤘

    I’ve always liked the way Red Barchetta was a nice Segway song between Tom Sawyer and YYZed! It’s a really cool story about the freedom that the car is in society and I like the way the song is structured!

    A fan favourite, one of my favourites and another superb performance. Man those guys had fun on stage, it comes through loud and clear, they were born to perform. I'm good without Roll the Bones, good choice to skip it. Thanks Justin.

    When it comes to Rush (or a select number of other artists) I'm watching you and your very entertaining reactions. You make good videos! But what Rush songs you choose to play or not play doesn't matter to me since I have their entire catalogue. Though I live in Toronto and grew up in Alex and Geddy's neighbouring subdivision, unfortunately the only Rush shows I managed to catch were in the early to mid 70's. So it goes.
    Keep on making videos and I'll keep watching them! 😎🇨🇦🇫🇮🎸

    Absolutely love Red Barchetta! I remember the first time you heard it you weren’t overly impressed but it is a song that just gets better over time. I saw RUSH in 1983 and without a doubt RB was the highlight for me. To this day I search TH-cam for reactions to this song and many just don’t get it the first time. The music is unmatched and the lyrics are perfect. In my opinion their best composition.

    Yeah, totally good with skipping RTB’s- That’s one I can take about every 10 yrs max, and even then it’s just okay for me. Now Red Barchetta, that’s a keeper I never get tired of!

    Love this song as much now as when I first heard it 42-ish years ago. It’s not my fave, or even in my top 5, but my sheer enjoyment in it hasn’t faded one iota. Great song.
    Alex is being a bro. You gotta mess with your bros. He and Geddy have been friends since they were kids, so Alex (being Alex) has gotta pester him from time to time. Not the last time you’ll see that. 😂

    If this is the first time you caught this live you should go back and check out Exit Stage Left live. Early music and a banger just an absolute banger of a live concert. In their “prime” so to speak even if I love some of the stuff from after. Kind of capped off their early work.

    Red Barchetta often pops into my head when someone asks me what my favourite Rush song is. It seems to grow towards the top of most fan’s list. I remember seeing them in Prague the night after this concert video was shot, they were late arriving and setting up and didn’t get a sound check. To “ring out the room” we heard Comfortably Numb being played really loud while waiting outside of the doors of the ice hockey arena. During Red Barchetta, Alex again came over towards Geddy and the mixing engineer at stage left, he was laughing and joking then realised he was miles away from his pedals when the solo was about to start. He sprinted across the stage but was still a fraction late kicking in the solo patch. Geddy was in stitches laughing at him. Quite a fun memory seen from just in front of Geddy’s mic.

    I don’t care what all the other versions of this song have, that outro puts this one on top. Everything else about it is nearly perfect as well. The sound quality, the mix, the tempo, actually hearing the crowd, and all 3(!) of them are playing out of their minds

    Red Barchetta for me is one of those songs that I put on when I am driving by myself and just crank as loud as it can go and just completely get lost in the sauce. My go-to is the Exit Stage Left Version but this one was pretty good as well. This is one of those Rush songs where the drum arrangement kind of dominates the listening experience but the base solo in the outro is also very memorable.

    I ready do believe this is the best recorded live performance in their videography. They play a great cross section of their catalog, the mix is clear and clean, Geddy’s vocals are still very strong, and they played their asses off.

  • @nicholassmith479
    @nicholassmith479 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sometimes Alex tries to distract Geddy just for fun. I think this is one of those times. They played this song so many times. Gotta keep things fresh. 😂

    Two things:
    1. How many months have we all been waiting for you to come around on Red Barchetta? Feels like an eternity. It was easily my favourite song during my teens (had a '75 Camaro with a transplanted 350cc full bore truck engine, with headers and shift kit - before I transitioned to motorcycles for enthusiastic driving experiences).
    2. The R40 version of Roll the Bones is the one you should watch (when the time comes).
    3. Bonus thing: Last month, my wife and I acquired a 2023 BMW M240i x-drive for her daily commute (all of 10 km's door-to-door). Turn out she hated the spartan comforts of that 2021 Special edition EV Mini Cooper...
    This evening, however, I had to drive 100km to a cabin I had rented to do some astrophotography, returning home just an hour ago. I should have been playing Red Barchetta the entire time, as I had no problem cresting 220km/h at one point with my new, 387hp conveyance on those empty country roads!

    Yeah, I'm good with skipping Roll The Bones. The entire 1990s was basically a lost decade for them. Bad medicine. As for this performance of Red Barchetta, it was great, but they were starting to show their age. I prefer the Exit... Stage Left version, as most fans do.

    • @elliottsargent5485
      @elliottsargent5485 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I disagree about the 90s, there are some real gems on Roll the Bones and Counterparts, both of which I would consider as strong albums, although Test for Echo is lost on me. I understand about them starting to show their age in later tours, but for me this is one of their best sounding concerts all round, and with a stellar set list, albeit ignoring some of the late 80s work

  • @Ryugeta

    No need to do Roll the Bones on this tour. The only one that may be worth it is R40 and that's just for the cameos on the big screen during the rap part.
