When you were talking about Chocolat, it reminded me of a book I read many years called Babette’s feast. It takes place in a small French village about a housekeeper who prepares a feast for a group of super religious older women in the village and she infuses magic into the food and how it pulls out the true essence of these women. It’s been many years since I’ve read it, but I do remember it having that feeling of magic and wildness. This was a great video! I have added several of these books to my reading list for the summer.
Thank you for all these wonderful suggestions, and for your fun and insightful commentary. So many good reads!! I think Circe is one of the best books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. And I appreciate your suggestion of Untamed -- I've lived my whole life finding out what's NOT me, and I'm finally learning how to figure out what IS me. Learning how to FEEL. To embrace ferality. Love it!! Thank you!! 🐎💛💛💛
@@LennanSmith Untamed arrived in the mail and I read almost the whole book that day. SO GOOD. So validating and inspiring. I love it. Thank you again for the suggestion!!! 💪💛💛💛
I am also a feral one 😂 🎉 the world would cease to exist without our wyrdness. Freaking love your vibe, always good stuff connecting to you through your videos
Fried Green Tomatoes is one of my favorite books and movies!! Clarice Lispector is everything!!! Such good picks Lennan &love the setting and mood of this video 🫶
Loved your choices Lennan - so many favourites along with new to me titles that I cant wait to get stuck into - thank you! I'm such a non-fiction girl yet in the summer I indulge in some fiction. Two recent reads I recommend are All Fours by Miranda July - feral perimenopause with some of the best erotic writing I've encountered in years! And Alchemy of a Blackbird by Claire McMillan - and easy read with the surrealist artist Remedios Varo as our protagonist, a hefty dose of tarot to shape the narrative, all set against the backdrop of the second world war artistic exodus from Europe to Mexico and beyond.
I loved this. So glad you enjoyed scarletti curse it's my fav feehan. I've read it several times too. My feral summer is all about sexuality and expanding my reading and art. I'm reading more dark romance and fantasy and going outside my pnr comfort zone lol. ❤
It was so good! I love Christine. And, I agree. Sexuality and Art!! Same, I actually love it when I can go outside my comfort zone. It shakes up the monotony of reading seemingly the same things!
