I have done this with both fresh jalapeño and bell pepper seeds and most recently tried clementine seed for fun! The orange seed took longer to sprout but it now has 3 sets of leaves!
Hmm try again and keep the baggie in a warm area this time. Pepper seeds prefer warmth and some can take longer to germinate depending on the pepper. Good luck!
Look for seeds that have not started to rot, so fresh bright white. Keep paper towel damp but. It soaking wet. Seal in a plastic bag. Try a darker and warmer spot this time. Check in 2 days, might need a spray of water if paper towel is damp. I hope this time works out for you! Remember not all seeds even from packets will germinate!
@@lauracoteDIYThank you SOOOO much! 🌹I purchased seeds today They were selling all those expensive pods thingys to germinate I knew it had to less expensive way I'm trying this in the morning I also purchased hot peppers, squash & cherry tomatoes seeds Will this also work I'm doing a deck garden . Time. Germination takes longer in soil. In addition, not all seeds are viable so you can toss the ones that don't germinate instead of wasting space and time.
@@doll5736 I suppose, but even open pollinated varieties of peppers won't "come true" unless they are grown in complete isolation, which is generally only done by people raising them specifically for seed production
@@doll5736 absolutely, I was only saying that the video implies you can do this with peppers you buy from the store, and if someone does that, they are going to be disappointed after weeks of waiting
Only a few days in baggie. Your seeds in soil should sprout as well. Germination rate for any seed is never 100% so just try again if nothing happens. I like to plant 2-3 seeds per pot and then cut back to one or transplant the extra to another pot. Happy growing this year!
I’m so happy it worked Tysm I’m so excited! I nearly gave up but this gave me a boost of determination
Awesome! I just did it for green beans and a mandarin seed for fun!
Mine sprouted over night. It was unbelievable but true
They germinate faster when fresher because they have a head start in the scarification
Mine as well!
Wow I have been waiting like 4 days
I’m amazed, I’m going to be trying this soon. I am buying bell peppers during most of my grocery shopping trips.

Do you plant the tail end down?
Thank you so much
❤
Where do i put the bell pepper seeds while they germinate?
I keep inside a dark dry cupboard
Do i put it on the window or somewhere datk or something?
I put it in a cupboard for a few days and just checked on it until I see a tail sprouting.
@@lauracoteDIY okay thank you
Please, can I do same for tomatoes?
Many seeds! Yes! I planted an orange seed and now I have a plant 8 inches tall and growing.
How many days does it take it for the seed to sprout
I feel so happy watching these vids
Which soil do you use? And where are you from?
Following
What is the seed has fuzzy white, I had mine in bag almost a week ans only small sprouting
To avoid fungus, dust the seeds with ground cinnamon powder
cool tip
@@lauracoteDIYhow long does it take to germinate? While it is in the napkin ??
And how big the plants and more important the peppers will be in such pot?
I take the stem with the seeds attached and put in the soil. Withing days i have a bunch of sprouts.
My capsicum aint sprouting goota try this
It even worked for an orange seed I tried just for fun!
Do I need to put bag in fridge ?
No, just a room temperature, preferably darker spot. I usually put it in a cupboard.
@@lauracoteDIYcan I wait 4 days for them to sprout because I just put them in before my camp
@Tomatosoup50 yes and hopefully be nice and sprouted with tails when you returned
@@lauracoteDIY Thanks so much and I need to put the tail facing down and also subscribed
I’ve grow only one pepper plant in my whole life and haven’t been able to since the first time how ogre to I water after roots appear
Is that a tissue?
paper towel, thicker than a tissue
@@lauracoteDIYhow how does this work! I’ve been waiting for 2 weeks and nothing. Can I do this will all peppers?
How many days, does it takes?
Just a few, not long
how long before they start germinating? and why the fancy cup trick just to wet a napkin lol
Haha no fancy cup, it was just easy to keep soaking new paper towels with a cup of water! Only took a few days to start seeing germination.
Thank u
Welcome
How long to leave the seeds and the paper in the bag for??
Just a few days. I have had sprouts in 24-72 hours.
In the fridge or just leave the bag out?
Any really but with the fridge it can grow mold
@@lauracoteDIYwas that a store boy pepper?
@autumnjade815 yes store
Ive had my seeds in wet towel and in a jar for over a week and nothing yet

Me too I'm gonna try again.

is this real
Yes I believe because mine sprouted overnight
Yes it is real!
Now where’s that bell pepper I bought minutes ago 😅
Haha! I’ve recently done this with orange seeds for fun!
I just toss in soil and let em grow
"We'll see" said the blind man.
Don’t know why you waste your time, instead of putting the seed straight in the soil
Time. Germination takes longer in soil. In addition, not all seeds are viable so you can toss the ones that don't germinate instead of wasting space and time.
I would think you could simply put the seeds in the soil, and it would work just the same… kind of how it happens in nature.
Did mine like that and they worked😊no hassle
What's the point? Any pepper you buy in a store is an F1 hybrid. They might germinate, but the peppers that grow.wll not resemble the one you bought
bc it’s cheaper in the long run i’d rather grow my own than buy it
u can buy non hybrid seed varieties

I wasn’t disappointed at all. My peppers grew just fine, same with the jalapeños. There are other seeds, such as apples, I wouldn’t bother with.
Direct to soil much better because the seeds fresh from Bell pepper.
Sure, this is just another method to select the best germinated seeds. Any homegrown food is good food!
Plastic bag!
How long did it take to sprout?
I put my seeds directly in moist soil, not a bag. Is that ok?
