Yeah, as a 72 yo woman, on top of age and thyroid related hair loss, I’ve also had post Covid shedding. It’s been pretty severe. Thank you so much for posting this multi-pronged approach. I’m likely going to try some of your non-oil approaches and recipes.
Right now I’ve been using multiple remedies. The best news is that in the past few weeks I’ve noticed more baby hairs at my hairline. The kicker for me (along with time) I think is that I got serious about addressing it on a DAILY basis. Not washing, but diet and light application.
Right now I’m doing vitamin supplements, Veta serum, red light therapy, your weekly oil treatment recipe and rhassoul clay wash. I was gluten and dairy free for a while and when I began eating it again I noticed an increase in scalp issues. I’m also addressing my diet, as diet seems to directly affect my scalp. Also scalp massage - doing it as often as I remember to do so is also something I do. I’m intrigued by that scalp hero thingy - it looks like something I might need to try - easier on my shoulders than my fingers! Also notice it has red light, too!

I have many similar issues: hormones, 67 years old, post-covid shedding. I've also had great luck w/ oils and massage. My diet has always been good, but I added some Chinese herbs to help the blood get to the scalp and combining that w/ oiling and regular scalp massage has been a game changer! Seeing lots of re-growth and MUCH less shedding.

I went into the obsession of using hair powders... I use cornstarch and mix it with cascallia (egg shell powder) and saw some rather good changes in hair texture and regrow and new growth (patching the hairline I was forced with which was nasty and masculine). Anyways today I washed my hair normally with shampoo, conditioner and water, and my hair feels yuck. I could see why people in the 18th century did not bother with watering their hair and just dry shampooed throughout that century or so. I call it chinchilla bath, because chinchilas bathe by dusting themselves. I actually prefer the dusting of my hair over the wash. I washed it today due to preparing my hair for hair coloring next week (root touch up to dye it silver). Since doing the dust for a month, I noted my hair was better managed, easier to style and got baby hair (new growth) in areas I never grew hair before. I am so happy in going 18th century mode with hair care. I can't wait for my hair to grow out silver naturally so I can live peacefully using corn starch for the rest of my existence. After washing it today my hair just feels so thin, and brittle. I hate it. Can't wait for after the hair coloring process next week to go back to another month of just powdering my hair again. I hate how society pressures with the obsession with shiny hair when powdered hair is much healthier for thinning hair or fine, straight/wavy hair and strengthens it to prevent hair loss in the first place. I love how you shared the notion not all hair is the same nor should be treated the same.

I have researched hair loss extensively, so I already knew most of these remedies, but I wanted to drop a comment to tell you how well thought out and informative your video is. I will definitely be sharing it with others who are struggling with hair loss. Two things I would add (Hope I didn't just miss you saying these): Have your iron AND ferritin levels checked. Sometimes a low iron or low iron storage issue can cause hair loss. Also, for those who don't know how to find a hair loss specialist, the search term you'll need is "trichologist." This is someone who is familiar with scalp and hair follicle issues. A good trichologist shouldn't just sell you expensive products but rather should assess your individual situation, possibly consult with a medical lab, actually diagnose what kind of hair loss you have, and then formulate a plan to address it. Hope that helps someone. Great job on the video, Katherine. Thanks again!

The absolute best thing I ever did for my hair and overall health was moving to a high protein high fat diet. Cutting out simple carbohydrates and all processed food and leaning into a more meat based diet has made my hair longer and stronger, cleared my skin, cured my anxiety/depression, (because our hormones are made from fat so a high fat diet helps to balance hormones) helped me lose weight, and cured my autoimmune skin condition. I had to unlearn every lie I’ve been told about nutrition throughout my life and understand that cholesterol isn’t bad and that dietary fat doesn’t make you fat and is actually good for you. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is funded by lobbyists from the junk food industry so I am not one to trust their “advice”..

My hair used to be really thick and full but now it’s thinning after having my 2 kids and I know it’s genetic since my mom said it happened to her too. Unfortunately my mom never did anything about it so her hair is very thin now but I don’t want to lose my thick hair and I absolutely hate seeing my scalp through my hair in some areas. I’ve been looking up hair regrowth remedies and I just wasn’t understanding anything because my brain wanted it to be like a medicine or like something medical but you laid it out really well for me. Now I understand that there is multiple remedies they’re just not medical and they work for a lot of people so I definitely want to try it. The more my hair falls out the more stressed out I get and I’m also on a fitness journey and I’m trying to fix my diet. So I’m going through many changes right now but my biggest stressor is definitely my hair loss.

Great this video found me, because my hair-misere started five years ago with my pregnancy!!! I had long thick hair, then I lost a lot of my hair during pregnancy and months after pregnancy it started again, so I had to cut them off... 😢
Then after that I had many health-problems (Corona, several inflamations of lungs, colon, etc) and with it came antibiotic- and cortison-treatments, which kinda ruined me completely, not just my hair. Soooo yeah I have probably lost like 75% of my hair and its structure completly changed but maybe I can get some of its beauty back!!? 😅

11:56 If you have Tinea Capitis (ringworm of the scalp- a fungal infection) then you have to talk to your doctor about it and get on an antifungal for at least 6 weeks. Topical treatments can’t penetrate the scalp to reach the fungus and holistic medicines don’t work to get rid of it. With that, clay + ACV do provide a lot of relief in the itchiness and do help clean your scalp. I think they can also prevent the spread of it, but I am not 100% on that.
Hope this helps! because I watched these types of videos for 15 years to help my hair and didn’t know any of this. ❤
Also, people who are at menopausal age are more susceptible to getting Tinea Capitis, as are children and immunocompromised people.
