Thank you so much for this video. You have no idea how many Power Ranger swords, lightsabers, and more I've had completely bent out of shape because I've placed something down for too long.
Hi loved your vid but I was wondering is there a way to make soft plastic stiff? Idk if you've ever had a run in with incredibly soft plastic like with some figure weapons such as silver savage figure weapons, baf hulk weapons etc. Just the worst case of soft plastic scenario and how to fix.
SimOaksAntonaTrees 801 Honestly I think soft plastic is going to stay that way. However I send stuff like that to Corey at Casting Cave. He can cast it in hard plastic and all you'd have to do is paint it or he will for a fee. Sorry. That's really my only solution. :(
I really don't encourage to use a heat gun as those are meant for like industrial or hardware type of things. As like you said it can melt the plastic or paint. As to a hair blower is much safer as they are made to a certain temperature that does not burn your hair or limb as to a heat gun is not. Also sometimes with certain plastics its not best to reheat and cold because it just makes the plastic brittle. That's why most toy companies leave the figure as is, so if we get a figure with a warped knee, that's pretty much it, we can reheat and cold yeah but it'll jus make it more brittle. But over all the trick does work.
I've had alot of experience with heat guns, so that's my preferred method. I always suggest people test ANY method before utilizing these tricks on their actual final project. You're right, though. of you don't know what you're doing with a heat gun, you can have a real disaster on your hands.
It always depends on the plastic. I have ran into the issue of a figure re-warping before. Mainly in the female Hasbro marvel legends knees. Something about that plastic just doesn't want to hold sturdy.
I might try is on my Cpt Marvel Young Nick Fury, hes supposed to be able to hold up Goose the Cat with one hand but his hand has been too loose, even out of package.
I was skeptical at first but tried it out and I’m very pleased to say it works, only I didn’t use water I used the cold blast on my hairdryer.

wish i knew this before ended breaking the handle of my sword...question is now what kind of glue do i use to put it back together any specific one?
Sorry for the late reply. I tend to put a small eye hook screw into the handle (laced with superglue) and insert it into the hilt.
NECA's Video Game Freddy figure comes with warped blades on two of his curled fingers. I was wondering if this method would work on his blades 🤔
Only one way to find out! I imagine it would!
Will it keep warping?

Imma try this with neca aliens legs
Good stuff
I use very warm water and then I freeze the object in the freezer. But next time I'll use this tips.
Awesome! There are so many techniques!
Is this soft or rubberized plastic?
It is softer plastic like found in most of Hasbro's action figure joints
Water in a bowl large enough to fit the plastic would be better and a tripod would also help too.
i used this method to close my action figures hand so he can hold his guns better
