37 minutes of pure joy. watching 2 masters of their trade, and an added bonus of watching one of the best comedy duo's in the country. The Cheeky Boys ! ✌❤ Bob.
Played with the Rattler back in the day. Found it worked best on venues stocked with new carp from 2oz -6oz such as Mallard on Brookside when that was 1st dug for match weights to 50LB. Caught on it once at Burton Mere but complaints from some anglers and it was sort of banned. You might remember, Jamie.
Just a thought, but could the hook length snapping perhaps be due to the very large resistance or drag created by the large, big bodied float and the huge bulk of shot beneath it be proving too much for the line?
Its effectively a self-hooking bolt rig. The buoyancy and surface area of the float sets the hook. Literally the harder the fish hits the bait, the better the hook set. Hooklength breaks may be similar issues to the method feeder. The resistance of the float when fixed may put extra pressure on the hooklength knots rather than spreading it across the whole rig.
Thought of a challenge you boys could do order 2 poles and end tackle off of wish might take a year to turn up but eventually you would have a decent video who knows what will turn up 😂
I thought the Rat Jig rig was a Winning Ways p**s take, but decided to give it a go. I fished my local commercial today and caught over 120 fish, mainly F1s but also a fair sprinkling of bonus mirrors. I hardly had a missed bite or hook pull. To try and be a bit scientific I set up a conventional rig and fished at the same depth, same bait in the same spot. The results were palpable , more missed bites and hook pulls and after half an hour reverted back to the Rat Jig rig and carried on catching. It does look unconventional, but it certainly did the business today. Thanks for showing it.
You have to be the same to do such a test - same line same hooklengths, same bait, same depth. Andy turned his into a jigger. If these conditions are not the same the test is obsolete.
This is an old rig called the rattler used as I know 20 plus yrs ago . It was barred on Bradshaw in Bolton and its barred on my local water widows flash wigan this is in the rules just saying sorry lads
@@WinningWays hi guys just trying to point out changing a name of rig that has are was banned could be trouble only my opinion. My apologies it was just a comment Keep up the good work that you lads do for angling . Love the videos
It’s the Rattler crossed with a Jigger, which is where Rat-Jig came from. As with so many methods it will be allowed at some places and not at others. Just a case of being sensible and checking with fishery owners if you’re not sure. Don’t want to get anyone in trouble 👍🏻

Definitely one of your more pertinent video's. Great test, Keep them coming guys. Cheers

We used to use that rig 20 years ago on moor side fishery it was called the rattler rig.
Great video. Just two mates having a laugh whilst catching. Jamie is on another level and it's not fair.
When you're taking the piss and trying to sabotage your mate but accidentally create the greatest rig ever 😂😊
Rat jig will be the best. When I saw the first video. I knew it would return! Great idea guys!
Great video you guys. You make the best fishing videos on TH-cam. Keep up the great work. 👍
Awesome video and interesting challenge. Shows the quality of the methods & angling. You 2 are awesome. Tight Lines 🎣 🐟
Brilliant humour and insight into older methods. Love it

I thought that too!
has anyone notice at 3.42 the red float hanging from the tree in the far corner.

Has J stopped using little dacrons now? Or just on his shallow kits?
Just playing about with beads on the shallow kits
