    The diode actually blocks the A/C signal so that it will feed DC voltage directly into the battery, as well as limits the voltage.

    Those engines are hard to find especially at small engine shops. Lot of the shops have the newer style engines which I don't like.

    Same thing happened to me with mufflers, some you brake bolts some you get the treads mess up, the last few engines that I rebuild if I don't have to take the muffler off I don't, , especially on briggs and stratton, and two cycle engines, it saves time and work

    Like the content on the starter”rebuild”. I know you shouldn’t re use a head gasket but I’ve done it before if it looks like it’s in decent shape and usually works fine. Love those old Briggs flat head engines. Great video Jeff !

    I know you don't like aftermarket parts Jeff, but maybe Stens, Oregon, Rotary, or Prime Line would still offer a head gasket. Great video, love those old flat heads.

    You can use it for a boat anchor

    You might want to put a heat shield on the fuel line above the muffler. I can see that being a problem. I have same engine and mine has metal tube fuel line runs through.

      @@JeffsLittleEngineService it's the top cover air filter gasket on these old Briggs 8 and 11hp. I saw in one video you had a new one that you stuck on the top cover. Can't find a reasonable one anywhere. Part 397972 or 272171

    You know Why is the truth is it is part don’t you get somebody to get people to buy brand new images instead of doing by the parts so that way money keeps flowing in there business. If Everybody was able To Still get Parts for this engine they would lose money is what they say when in fact they probably make more money on selling parts than they ever do on actually selling engines

    • @jaykoerner

      It's a head gasket, just make it

    • @Ellenslife851
      @Ellenslife851 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaykoerner Exactly if you had the right material you could technically make head gasket and I believe you can find that material easily on the Internet because somebody has to make that material that they keep pressing the head gaskets out of with their head gasket making machine and also you probably could find a crossover head gasket that would work the same as the OEM one for this engine See that’s what Briggs & Stratton doesn’t realize that there are alternatives or maybe they do I just know that the reason they’re discontinuing parts for their older stuff is a plan to make it so people have to buy new stuff instead of being able to fix the whole thing so Briggs & Stratton can bring doubles of money of what they bring in now into the corporation. Because I’m assuming that Briggs & Stratton has already been swallowed up by someone which is not surprising because it is a household name and a business like that that is a household name is going to have to find someone that wants to buy it I would love to be able to buy all the plans for every vintage engine that Briggs & Stratton ever made and start my own corporation Making replacement parts for every engine Briggs & Stratton ever design from 89 and older

    • @Ellenslife851
      @Ellenslife851 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jaykoerner I can almost guarantee that a company like that would make good money because there’s always going to be a collector that’s looking for those parts and I wouldn’t even make certain parts that Briggs & Stratton never made for those engines like engine sleeves that can slide into the engine easily to make it salvageable so that way It will live again making it virtually impossible for someone to not want to rebuild the engine and make the parts cheaper and affordable for them so they will want to do it instead of throwing away because I think it’s sad because we’re a throwaway society now and it makes me sick to see so much waste in regular dumps and metal dumps

    • @twinkie27271

      I'm sure Stens has a head gasket.

    • @Ellenslife851
      @Ellenslife851 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@twinkie27271 That is possible but even if they don’t making one is not such a bad option chances are they may not have the head gasket because that’s what a lot of these corporations do they discontinued the main components that are the most popular two engine models that they build because they want to get customers buying brand new engines instead of buying parts for the older stuff so they can sell brand new engines that they have just collecting dust on the shelf. What companies like this cease to realize is that they probably would make more money selling parts for every engine I’ve ever built versus trying to discontinue them on purpose to make a new engines a sales .1 in reality a lot of the stuff built nowadays just doesn’t have the quality as it did back then and if they’re going to try to make it so people have to buy brand new engines at least put some quality in the engines that you make at least that’s what I feel like all new stuff nowadays It’s just garbage made in Japan or some foreign country and just not a lot of Quality put into it
