Cost of living gone up all over the world , but your last comment was spot on Malta went up the least compared to the rest of Europe and 💯 spot on live on a budget you can afford.
Thank you Michael, im glad you are enjoying my videos eventough you are Maltese, i get comments like yours a lot, and i wonder what is the perspective you see ? :)
@@AlexinMalta The first thing that comes to mind is that you are true to your viewers. You do not sugarcoat, and say that coming to Malta is going to be easy, you will get rich etc. As in fact, coming to Malta is difficult for a third-country national. Also, you mentioned that life here is expensive compared to the average salary most Maltese and expats are earning, which is also true. I think you are doing a great service to Malta, as you are providing information through your experience to expats that are dreaming of coming to Malta. Which in the last years was too much! I agree that Malta is overpopulated and we have lost our identity. However, you are right that skilled workers are needed here, as people such as myself will not work those type of jobs.

Malta inflation went up 7.4 and in Europe 11 , But you forgot to mention that wages all over europe went up according to Inflation yet Malta stayed the same .
As someone who came to Malta from Ireland, which i found a little more expensive than the UK, I was totally shocked (and continue to be), at the cost of living in Malta, moreso if you consider the average worker wage. Just one little example, a large pack of butter, which cost 2.75€ in Ireland, will set you back almost 8€ here. Bargains? I think not! A warning to any Brits thinking of retiring here......Hope you have a generous pension, otherwise you will struggle. Not just higher cost of food, but rents are mental, and don't get me started on property prices, makes the South of France look very cheap!
Thanks for your comment, i have made already a dedicated video on how much are the fixed costs (rent, bills, car costs etc) 2K a month is quite decent for this island
My daughter and late son-in-law lived in Malta for 12 years, they bought a house for cash, it was beautiful but it took them 8 years to sell, they lived on a hillside and could see the sea, they sold complete with EVERYTHING, my daughter now lives in a private semi in England and glad to be ‘home’. The grass is not always greener eh. As for Maltese properties being cold, say no more. Have a nice day ☕️
Marble floors and only rugs (no fitted carpets obviously) electric heaters are pretty useless, everything smells damp. The terrible flooding in Malta and hailstones, tourists don’t see that they think it’s all sunshine and hot we’ll it’s certainly not, we holiday in Malta and Gozo but would never live there again.
Prices in LIDL stores in Malta are very similar to those in French and European LIDL stores in general...For services, on my last visit to Malta I paid €5 for a haircut at BUGIBBA which is very cheap.
I will be spending a month in Valletta Malta starting at the beginning of May. What grocery store do you recommend I use? I do not have a car, but wondering if the busses run to the Lidl or Pavi?
