- The Montessori activities on her Montessori Shelf are NOT her toys. That's the rest of the home 🙃 These are invitations to explore skills and concepts she's shown an interest in or could be of interest to her. I can't emphasize enough how individualized these activities will be for every kid. In the Montessori class, kids will have access to ALL areas at once. At home, I'm limited on space so our shelf rotation is sometimes a mix of activities with various themes and skills or, like this time, very heavily focused on a few things. If you notice, most of these activities are a variation of sorting or matching, and they are mainly from the Cultural area of a Montessori class. Because after we started traveling, she has become incredibly interested in planes, the world around her, landmarks, and how the world relates to other planets. And by creating Montessori activities that lean into her specific interests, I'm setting her up for successful independent play and exploration because she WANTS to do these activities and explore them as intended, and do so respectfully.

oh yes gonna do the phases of the moon since our local home ed group had a new moon sighting. they also got some telescopes to look at venus and mars sooo cool but i didn't get to look mainly older kids. i looove these mixed age family events.

aaaaahhh so many 3 part cards activities. the scales are what I'm focusing on for now hahaha our scales aren't set up as an activity properly just using the needle to measure which is hair by noting which line the needle went to and comparing that way which is not what i want i cant find these type of classic scales to visualise exactly what it means to be heavier. tried ordering from the us but then the shipping cost was so not worth it. maybe absorbent minds or neihouse have something for Europe.
She had some label matching sticker activities on the plane and kept asking for more so I had to get to work 😅 She's so happy to be "working with letters" 🥲
I had quite the journey finding little scales too, honestly! I wonder if they're easier to find somewhere like a thrift store?
How do the child access the instruments? Do the teacher tell the instructions? What the teacher do?
This is just our home, our daughter's playroom. She was always able to reach these-the shelf is her height. But it is based on how a Montessori class is set up. We still have short shelves and materials that the children can access independently. The guides g8ve presentations to show how to use the materials
Thank you for the video, I see that your child is exposed to 2 different language, how do you introduce the English language? I see that the books are in English 😊
We have Russian and Korean books too, but living in the US, most of the available books are in English. We read them to her in our respective languages.
Since the main language in our community is English, she was always exposed to it when we left our home, but especially so now that she attends an English speaking preschool. I have a few videos on how we approached the 3 languages in our home!
