I genuinely just started crying like a baby, remembering all the great times this guy gave me and my dad in the 90s and early 2000s... What a treasure. God bless Jackie Chan. I am taking a week off from work when he passes away. I can't say enough about how many people forgot about their problems when they watched his films. There will never be anyone like him. He is like the Michal Jordan of action films.

But I feel he (and the likes of Andy Lau to some extent - another man I grew up watching and am still a fan of, but he started giving only mandarin interviews recently in a Cantonese/Vancouver audience -AKA mini Hong Kong ) To me it's like they have sold out their roots. That personal life stuff (Etta Ng and estranged daughter etc. That makes for a colourful life and a good read - I recommend reading his Bio as a fan). To be a fan, is to accept his flaws.

Jet Li is mainly focused on wushu, has practiced more on it ever so, was also a legit tournament contender. Jackie Chan grew up in Peking Opera, he learned through many arts but never mastered them. Even Wong who's a HK director would say Jet fad surpasses Jackie Chan with his use of weapons but it's more to a point and useful. Jackie Chans prowess is more of for screen, ever since the likes of buster Keaton and so on he modeled after. They fight so differently but Jet Li is hands down the wushu master, done more wushu than Jackie did in his lifetime

No one fights wushu style in combat anymore. So with this in mind both Jetli and Jackie Chan are equal when it comes to wushu. However I have to give you that Jetli actually did won wushu art style competitions, but those were also performances not actual combat. The fact that Jacie Chan did not enter wushu competitions, doesn't mean he cannot do it and doesn't mean his mastering of the art is not accurate. During Jackie Chan Opera times, he was required to train wushu to perfection, and Peking Opera training is even more strict and harsh than any other.
