SHIT I completely forgot about the handheld Zelda games, good catch. I should mention that makes it an even longer wait from BOTW-TOTK compared to everything else than I thought
I think I prefer their method admittedly. It keeps their cards close to their chest, builds quiet hype and less chance of things being datamined and leaked.
@@theglasshalffull6958 I keep seeing this argued but... I disagree. "Hype" is unnecessary when you have this level of presales, you know about the game, I know about the game, that kid sleeping on the street because rent money bought him a switch knows about the game, everyone that isn't fully committed to buying is just quibbling on price or never buying the game, they can wait for the second stock and hearing from us all about the story.
@@michaellane5381 Yeah that's a good point ig. It really shocked me to see how much pre-orders the game already racked up compared to BOTW knowing how INSANE the lead up was at that time. So it's not necessarily that I think the game is gonna flop or it's gonna be bad but it's just so unusual for Nintendo to be this quiet about a game as big as this
I have been having a fear that TOTK might turn out to be not so great. Nintendo has made a few follies lately. The last Pokemon and Fire Emblem were both weird af to put it mildly. But then they have a huge win with the remaster of Prime. Dread was also a pretty dang good game, so I don't know. I just really REALLY hope TOTK is in the hits category since it'll be my last Zelda.
I don't really think that game is gonna be bad. I mean it's already been delayed a couple times and the Zelda team and Aounoma has never really had any misses imo so I doubt there's anything to be really be afraid of. I will say though it's not weird to think like this since we haven't seen too much. Btw I personally enjoyed Pokemon's last outing but yea I can see why it can be disliked
@The Glass Half Full I liked the concept and even a lot of the implementation of new things in the latest pokemon too, but a lot of my mon being held hostage in Home, which I'm paying for, and the really bad performance of the game really just came as a slap in the face for me. I really think they should just do a "pokemon stadium ultimate" where people can ONLY battle with any mon they have in any game compatible with Home. They already have pretty much all the assets to make this work and it's kind of a no-brainer on terms of a game that's easy and quick to develop that's gonna make millions automatically
@@kevintown311 Yooo a new Pokemon Stadium would be such a cool idea. Especially to someone like me who never played the original games. I must say though you can slap any game with the Ip Pokemon attached to it and it'll automatically sell millions
@The Glass Half Full haha yeah it would be rad if they made that game for all of us, but you're right as hell when you say everyone buys anything related to pokemon and they're fully aware of our addiction lol
2 other reasons why I think TOTK is not as hyped as BOTW: BOTW came with the Switch which is one of the most hyped-up console I've ever seen. And not only that, what games did the console have at launch? BOTW -and 1 2 Switch- ... it only had BOTW! So the hype of the Switch and the hype of the game transferred a lot on each other (and I know the WII U had BOTW too). I mean, the ads in the last months were Believer blasting over BOTW gameplay *even the ads made the whole thing more hyped.* Now... nothing similar is even discussed (like a new model of Switch (actually, what if the Switch OLED and TOTK were planned to come out together at first? 🤔)). The hype for TOTK after E3 was *_insane,_* but the hype died and it died *hard,* it left a mark and people were afraid to be excited again for it. By the end of 2019, since we had nothing else and the first trailer was milked to death (and it's actually an understatement) by everyone, a lot of people kinda forgot about it. 2020, the year it was supposed to release, we had nada (Nintendo isn't the only one to blame). Fast forward to early 2021, we have Eiji Aonuma that told us the development is going well and nothing else about it for the 35th anniversary. A few weeks later, a new trailer, the release date? Pushed again! Now almost 2 other years later, we got the last trailer, and it's the last info we will have. Now, for BOTW, we had more small moments of more info trough it's 3 years than TOTK in it's almost 4. Oh, and the release date was also pushed more times which didn't help.
Yea I completely forgot for a small amount of time the Switch was just a BOTW machine lol. So it's crazy that the game had that much of a backing at a certain point in time. And I guess TOTK is releasing at a weird time with the mario movie, pikmin 4 and other releases that aren't overshadowing the game but it is sharing the spotlight with it in some way. Nonetheless it's still crazy how close we are to May 12th and how little we know lol
When it comes to the most anticipated games of the year this game wins every time over star field, over red fall practically over everything. I think the best thing to say is that it's silent hype. People are very hyped about the game but they aren't really given information to spread that hype to other people.
I think silent hype is a good way to describe this game so far. I mean the pre-orders are already insanely high so there's definitely people who are excited for it.. but man they really don't wanna give us anything lol

Go in as blind as possible so Genshin Impact can't copy & paste before release
