I’ll be honest last night when I was watching the game I was super confused about this play call, but now after sitting on it, I don’t hate it at all. Here’s why: If it’s going to be an offensive shootout, and the Bills are already going to score on our banged up defense. Why not take the chance. If they recover the onside kick then obviously they keep possession, but if the bills recover it, then it takes less time off the clock than their drive would have normally and you can always pray they make a mistake.

How long have you watched football, on any level. With 12 min left in the 4th quarter, you do not kick an onside kick. You punt the ball. This season, there have been 44 onside kicks but only 3 recoveries by the kicking team. Those odds alone should tell you it was a stunningly stupid decision.
