It should tell you everything about Ebersole's performance that this season featured incredible performances by Donna Murphy and Audra McDonald - and it still didn't matter, because Ebersole had this in the bag from the moment her show opened.
So, so wrong..... Curtains would've destroyed her had Grey Gardens not been there. And, the women who won before & after would never have lost to LBB..... Legally Blonde was mainstream but NEVER beloved, like the others were, by the board of voters or anyone who really knows musicals, for that matter.
@@HeyItsSarah30 no, she has the voice of a 90 degree angle. (ik people get like really offended over everything now so I’m going to say it outright, this is a joke)
I was curious how your "any other year" LBB would've won comment holds up, and when comparing it to the 2 actresses who won both years prior to 2007, and the two years directly after, I still think LBB loses to the women who won their respective years. Now if 2007 was only 4 nominees and Grey Gardens wasn't eligible, MAYBE LBB wins against Debra Monk (the biggest competition), but its in no way a guarantee, especially considering that Legally Blonde was not very beloved amongst Tony voters, and Curtains was.
LBB was great as Elle and it definitely took stamina, but Christine Ebersole was transcendent in Grey Gardens. Her 15 second moment of silence at the climax of “Another Winter in a Summer Town” alone was worth the award this year.
I love you Christine!!! ❤️ I saw her and Patti in War Paint and they’re STILL killing it! Talent and trained singing forever!!!
This was one of those years where everyone knew who was winning the Day nominations were announced. And a well deserved win at that.
"I'm over the hill in the role of a lifetime! This is so encouraging!" FAB!
She's amazing!!! Definitely deserved ❤

So extremely well deserved!!

In any other year, Laura Bell Bundy would have won best actress in a leading role for being Elle Woods.
My Sentiments Exactly
Lolololol.

AUDREY McDonald????
Right? 4 Tony Awards at that point and he couldn’t say her name correctly.
Shane de Leon ok I’m glad I’m not the only one who heard that 🤣
She has a voice of an angle

Actually, she has the voice of an 89° angle. It’s acute voice, for sure.

@@LPM12 PERFECTION!! THANK YOU!
Personally I think Laura Bell Bundy should have won for her ecstatic performance as Elle, but congrats to Christine anyway!
