My favourite film of all time is called 'Submarine', its a really lovely little indie film. Coming of age, comedy Drama. Even if you can't get behind the characters, you can get behind the visuals and the symbolic imagery and what-not. Really really good!

Seriously I think that 85% of Studio Ghibli movies are about as close to perfect as they come. Princess Mononoke for me has gotta be the most objectively perfect one though, the whole thing just feels perfectly woven and engaging from start to finish

Love a lot of the films you mentioned, particularly the Finchers and Pixars. For me the most perfect film is Spike Jonze's Her. I completely bought into the film's story and was never once taken out of it. Everything from the music, to the performances, to the production design, to the direction just adds to the immersive experience.

    Perfect movies:
    The Shawshank Redemption
    Seven
    Probably anything Kubrick
    Perfect in its genre:
Ocean's Eleven (Not as goodas the ones above, but I have never seen a movie that works so perfectly in the heist genre. It's coolness and general feel is fantastic.)

Kung Fury's action was repeatable, poorly written and unoriginal. However it was a 10 out 10 movie if it comes to "so bad its good" category. Also the nazi scene was pretty darn good.

The Shawshank Redemption is pretty dam perfect in my opinion. The scene where they reveal the tunnel he used to escape is just classic, due to music and the fact that he spent 20 years tunnelling out so patiently. Wall-e is also pretty dam perfect, due to how well designed it is and how satirical it is.

I can't really say much other than repeat what you guys have said, Lord Of The Rings gets me going, all of these get me going.
All of Edgar Wright's movies are glorious - though I will say that Hot Fuzz is on a separate level of sublimity that's unmatched for me. Just the pacing, the editing, the comedy. Gorgeous. Not to mention that the performance is gold - everything hits home. There we go, enough licking Wright's arse.
The Dark Knight really gets me going too, it's definitely getting there for me at least. The rest of Nolan's stuff really throw me outta there but The Dark Knight, oh boy.
Oh and also The Amazing Bulk is just fantastic, 10/10

I completely forgot one thing that I have yet to see anyone else mention; I'm surprised I didn't think of it sooner because you're all English, but what are your thoughts on Guy Ritchie as a film maker ? Not that I expect a reply, but I first watched 'Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels' when I was younger and it has since been one of my all-time favourites along with 'Reservoir Dogs.' Or Kevin Smith's 'Clerks' is another heavy hitter.

I think that Alex was pretty spot on saying Schindler's List, the first time I watched it was in school and everybody else was like oh this sucks, but I thought it was exceptional in the way they showed the story they were telling and it was a very different perspective on the Holocaust then you usually get. Another pretty amazing movie is The Gods Must Be Crazy, it is weird and kinda slapsticky but all in all it was a great movie. You don't see many movies like it and I think it deserves and honorable mention.

I'm still surprised so many people call out Social Network as their favourite movie. Fincher movies do really have this incredible preciseness to them where you can sort of tell within seconds that you're dealing with a quality movies and the Social Network might be about the ultimate example of it. And it's very impressive that you _can_ make a very engaging movie, but it's still a movie about Facebook and business stuff.

I'm going to go ahead and drop Silence of the Lambs here. Everything about it was effectively done and it still looks amazing and it looking outdated actually adds to the gritty darkness of the story, in my opinion. Also, Howl's Moving Castle, which adapted the book absolutely lovely and to this day still looks and is amazing.

Dog Day Afternoon is a film that I absolutely love, sans any nostalgia and personal connection that I can find in Toy Story or Star Wars (those are part of me, so I'm definitely bias towards their flaws.) It captures the human spirit but finding the humor, absurdity and tragedy of a bizarre event (based loosely on an actual robbery).

Honestly the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy will always have a special place in my heart. I don't watch many films at all but they were so good. I'm not sure if they could be considered "perfect films" but they're damn close. My personal favourite in the group would have to be Hot Fuzz.

I wholeheartedly agree! British comedy at its best and it just feels like they put everything into it. I'm not sure how many times I've rewatched those films but they never lose their spark for me :)

i find the texas chainsaw massacre (1974) is a "perfect" movie as with it's low budget it still managed to be scarier then any scary movie that has come out in recent time it stands as my favorite horror movie of all time R.I.P. Gunnar Hansen you truly brought leatherface to life

the part of the original star wars that is the least believable is probably the matte paintings. last time i watched it the part where they were entering the death star hangar really stuck out to me as an obvious painting with miniature models over it

TBH Ghostbusters 2016 is the perfect movie, it is too good for us mere mortals on Earth. Honestly most people hate it because they're afraid for something different and they're sexist, whether they know it or not.

The fact that the cast was all female had nothing to do with how fucking awful it was they took the brand and insulted everyone who liked the original which actually had good humor and seriousness at times

WHat are you talking about? You're just saying that because you're sexist (and probabably racist too), the fact that CEMEMETS this is that you said that the original had good humour and was serious. The original was slow and was terribly paced, while it was also silly for no goddamn reason, such as when they were insulting that slime thing. The orignals even had a token black character

      @kayrrel6510 8 ปีที่แล้ว

+DaFlamingLink +DaFlamingLink see the problem with your statement is he proved that the female cast wasn't the main detriment to him enjoying the film. He explained that the movie was an insult to the original and he did not enjoy it. To me he seems not very sexist (or racist either). Also you gotta admit the movie isn't that fun to watch. It's clearly uninspired and is just another Hollywood remake to grab some quick and easy cash.

I think that John Wick is a perfect movie. The actors are all good and the movie accomplishes what it wants to do. Some people may see it as a dumb action movie but it actually has more to offer.

People will say, "The plot is really fucking stupid. The guy kills people because they killed his dog."
