What a lovely way of saying goodbye, you have done your father proud. We followers feel your pain, you brought your father into our lives and very much respected he was for his insights and knowledge. All our warmest thoughts from this Scottish, upland farming, family.

Please accept my most sincere condolences for the passing of your beloved father. He loved you so very dearly. It was so very obvious in the twinkle in his proud English eyes when he was with you. His legacy will live on in the farm that he loved so truly.

what a lovely send off for a great man. i can see by your videos that he loved the farming life and his family very much. he would have loved seeing all those old tractors going by .........bet he could put a make and model to every one of them as they came down the road. i know exactly how you feel about making those decisions on the farm now that your farther has passed. i felt the same aswell when both my parents passed some years ago, but you do grow in confidence as time goes on and your farther would be very proud of you. god bless you all at this trying time

No Farmer could ask for a better way of saying farewell, a loving Family an hon-our guard of Vintage Tractors. This was a sadly joyful video if you can have such a thing, the beautiful sunrises, the sheep following to new pasture, a daughters thoughts and a fond farewell to a really nice Guy, who loved his Farm, Family and Life. You did your dad proud. My dad died 20yrs ago, he didn't want a hearse he wanted to be on a trailer pulled by his tractor, and he didn't like flowers he always said the only good flower is a cauliflower so we got a neighbour to put 1 on his grave, he got all his wishes... you are such a lovely strong person xxx
We talked about a tractor and trailer but with the stormy weather etc we were worried it could be a struggle, so the tractor run was a wonderful compromise xxxx your dads sounded a marvellous personal send off xx
A simple no nonsense service for a special man.... I cannot think of a better way to say goodbye Well done.

What a marvelous send off for your Dad Jo, no doubt he had a smile on his face while looking down to see the parade of tractors in his honor. It certainly was a beautiful cloudless day to celebrate his life as well.
It’s only natural to feel as though you’ve been thrown into the deep end of the pool and to question certain decisions that must be made. It’s great to have a strong community of farming friends to share advice and ideas with, but your Dad taught you well and personally I have faith in you.

Nice send off for your Dad. Don't worry about mistakes, we all make them, farming is one occupation were a lot of people have different ideas. Go on your instincts, you had a top class teacher, the worst than can happen is you would have to buy some extra bags of feed.

What a touching, grand and appropriate ceremony for your fathers funeral. Just having observed him thru this utube channel, he would have been so proud of the tribute you arranged for him with the tractor procession. The uncertainty you feel about making decisions is very natural. You have experience and are a very intelligent young woman - you will do fine. Ask for input from others, then trust your gut. Your dad has taught you much more over the years than you realize.

The tractors were a great tribute to your Dad. I didn’t know that tractors could be so emotional. But it wasn’t just the tractors, it was also all the farmers who turned out to pay their respects to Farmer John Shimwell. I am just one of the great many who are deeply saddened and shaken by the sudden death of John, and I will always remember him with warmth and fondness. The poems and the Eulogy which you and your sisters gave at his funeral was a perfect tribute to him. Never conceited, he always spoke of the three of you with great pride. Love and peace to thee and thine from me and mine, Joanna.

@@DaleFarm When Carl and I visited John on November 5th, and photographed him with Archie, one of the things your Dad said, Joanna, was that he was delighted that you have "got it" and that he was looking forward to hopefully visiting Belarus to see the tractor plants, now that he knew the Farm was in good hands while he was away. You got it, he said. So, you got this! I called by and spent ten minutes with him up the Chapel today. Not ever going to be the same village without him, but that you have the Farm is a continuity which consoles. I am so very sorry that he is gone, but I am equally so very glad that I knew him. x
That was a lovely tribute to your Dad, with the things he loved surrounding him and saying farewell. Don't worry you have the support of farmers around you along with your Dad's brother that can help you with the livestock and farm, you're doing great even though you are doubting yourself a bit, at some point it will become natural to you as it was with your Dad. Thank you for sharing this fine send off.

Joanna, your Dad was such a lovely man, it was obvious through your videos that he cared deeply for his livestock and especially that he loved you dearly, as only a father can love his daughter. Your videos are a wonderful opportunity to reminisce how even an ordinary day for the two of you was filled with respect and admiration for each other. You are an incredible legacy to his life on the farm, I know you'll do him proud and he'll always be with you.

I remember watching a video where you had baled up the hay and your dad looking across the fields saying there's no other place I would rather be. Omg, I had tears in my eyes. That was so amazing to see, the community coming together with their tractors. Your dad lived a beautiful life and on the farm with you. He is so proud of the life he lived and his daughter. The ground takes us all but here is an example of a wonderful life.
