Birthday campaigns are a great way to increase customer engagement, retention as well as lead to higher conversion rates. I’m going to show you everything you need to know to set up a birthday campaign in Shopify.
Customer Fields provides an easy, no-code solution to collect birthdays when your customers register for an account, and when partnered with something like the Happy Birthday app, you’ve got all the tools you need for a powerful birthday campaign.
In Customer Fields, let’s add a birthday field to a custom registration form, customize it, and add a date validation rule. Let’s save our changes and head over to the customers page.
In the customers page on the app we can see that the customer's birthday is being saved automatically when they create an account. Now that you’ve collected your customer’s birthday, you can integrate with your email service provider to begin marketing to customers.If you need a tool for automated birthday campaigns, checkout the Happy Birthday App by Unionworks.
Let’s set up our app and enable the Customer Fields integration. If we have existing customers we’ll need to export the list as a CSV, and if we don’t have existing customers, they’ll automatically populate when a new customer creates an account.
We’ll only export the data columns the Happy Birthday app needs: first and last name, birthday and email. We can save this segment for future use and then export these data columns before downloading them.
Now we’ll import the selected CSV file and map the fields accordingly. Happy Birthday app’s preview will let us know when the fields are mapping correctly. Process the data file, and we’re all set.
I’ll just customize the email to give it the personal touch and look I want. Nice. This email is scheduled to be sent automatically on the customer’s birthday, which will give you both even more to celebrate!
