Ignacio Echeverria. The Spanish Skateboarder who sacrificed the rest of his skating days in the name of freedom and love. He died during the London Bridge Attacks. My love to his family and friends. You knew a hero. X
I went to Madrid about 5 years ago now. Borja and his homie that owned Welcome Skateshop were so nice to me. They took me to parks a few days and were super fun to have a post skate beer with. Support those dudes! Cheers from the U.S.!
I'm not into skating but I liked this doc. Simply showing skaters skating, talking about their spots, city... sometimes it's best to let the people do the talking without a reporter type of guy. Too peaceful, kind of un-vice like? Maybe. But I like vice because of their versatility, and the wide range of subjects they show their subscribers. Cheers!
While everyone chasing for sponsorship, JAVIER don't, he just wants to skate errday. Much respect OG! if you haven't watched The Firm CAN'T STOP, you search for it now!
When i clicked the video and seen it was 24 minutes long..i was like pffft way too long, i ain't gonna watch this..but I just started watching, then before i knew it, the video was over..good video :P..
There's enough out there on Barcelona. Aren't you stoked to learn about the other cities that don't get much international coverage ? If you want to know more about Macba, just type it in to google. The fact that you know about it in the first place means you can look it up. This video gives great insight to rich skate history that I didn't even know existed. Be grateful to the dudes who worked hard on this. Not giving you shit dude, just trying to help you think differently.
Wowww can't Believe i found this after 11 years...LK LA KANTERA ONE OF THE BEST SKATEPARKS IN SPAIN "BASQUE COUNTRY" I'VE GROW UP THERE AS A CHILD 😮😊.. WE HAD BOWLARAMA, VOLCOM EVENTS ND MUCH MORE ALSO THE BEST SKATERS AT THAT TIME SKATING ON OUR LAND CRAZYYYYY
In 1980 skateboarding came from the Americans from Torrejone. In 1983 the first halfpipe was on base and the first ramp was in Royal Oaks. They were built by freestyle bikers not skateboarders. The miniboard was a ratfink. Trust me I know.
It's "What's so strange about me?" by Eight Dayz, the band of German skateboarder Claus Grabke. Great song, I think it's really awesome, that vice took this song for the intro.
This is my life!!! First go to school then come home. Go and watch skate videos and then i go out and skate. But then I realized im not good and going in again and play skate 3 :D
This is such an amazing subculture, and Spain seems to be a beautiful place to skate. makes me wish that I was good at skating. and that i actually skated still haha
this documentary is originally made by patrick o'dell for a show called skate europe, he goes to germany, denmark and even the UK. Im thinking maybe he sold it all to Vice, anyhow, good show.

Go to their channel and there’ll be a surprise.

So cool that vice respects the skate scene and uploads videos like this

So cool seeing skate culture reach this far around the world. Speakes volumes about the freedom and fun skating represents
Man Madrid has some really cool skating spots
Spain is a nice country to be in
Jewpacabra not really. Tons of dumb people
It is, but there are dumb people that want to reflect that there are dumb people in. A lot of child crying all day long, without knowing what is out.
I was just surprised that they didn't include Barcelona, that's all. It's sick to learn about the other parts too, no doubt about that.
This inspired me to visit bilbao. City looks amazing 👌
Another great video. I'm not a skater, but they're still fun to watch. Amazing what people can do on a skateboard.
Nice!!!! It's been a pleasure to collaborate with this video.

First skatepark in Spain seems to be built near Barcelona in 1979
Vice pls do more like this, it is so interesting
I'm backing Vice's skate documentarys.. we need more!
these series just makes me want to skate
Javier Sarmiento is up there in my fav skaters list no doubt. He's got amazing style and an endless array of tricks.

I would have liked to hear some stories about Barcelona (especially Macba) but it's also nice to hear about these parts of Spain.
the frick, I swear this video has been uploaded before, It's like vice upload content over and over to keep it "fresh" !?
I like the history behind these videos
This makes me want to spend this next summer learning how to ride, and maybe a small trick or two. Nice summer days they would be too.
This is my life!!!
First go to school then come home.
Go and watch skate videos and then i go out and skate.
But then I realized im not good and going in again and play skate 3 :D

What about the south? and BARCELONA!?

I agree though, a lot of amazing tricks in skateboard history have gone down in those two places.
Awesome video!
Principe Pio rules!!

Eight Dayz - What's so Strange About Me (2011 Remastered)
great video
OMG Some of the places are where I usually skate at!
Viva España y todo el país!
Skateboarding looks cool man :D
Vaya mundo.
You make a fair point mate. but to make a documentary about spanish skateboarding without even mention barca is pretty crazy!
Speaking of the Spanish skateboard scene without sparing a few minutes on Barcelona is like doing an US documentary without referring Love park...
Blackriver ramps @ 6:58 so sick
BARCELONA?
José Barcia no xD
Why is not Barcelona in the video? you show a few clips but nothing more there are good skaters to
Excellent translation
It's not as popular as it used to be, but worldwide there's still approximately 18.5 million skaters.

this documentary is originally made by patrick o'dell for a show called skate europe, he goes to germany, denmark and even the UK. Im thinking maybe he sold it all to Vice, anyhow, good show.
