you are really getting the hangof it Brian! Would like to watch you thursday night but will still be teaching in my beekeeping class until 8. Maybe see you next thursday
Way to go Brian. I did a couple of super early splits, one came back with an insanely huge queen, the other has a smallish queen, so I am trying again on they hive.
Wow Brian I really enjoyed that video! You are upping your editing skills for sure. I think you showed exactly what folks want to see while cutting out dead space. Great job my friend!
Thanks Bruce. I've been trying to hone in my editing skills so that people get the most out of the time they spend watching. Like Yappy says, it is a production. I think this one came out how I wanted it. Appreciate you watching.
I was going to say the same about your editing skills. That's where I lack with my channels. I really need to up my editing game. What software are you using?
Thank you so much, I appreciate the kind words. I try to voice what actions i'm taking so that we can all learn. And, If I can improve folks can tell me.
Hi Brian, You read the latest article in ABJ from Randy Oliver, it will make for a good discussion on stream. I felt like the lone voice when that wagon pulled into town ;)
@@CastleHives That makes sense. I’m always trying to maximize my honey production so I pretty much do an equal split. Thanks for the videos I always learn something new.
@@StonewallJackson-n8w I have entrance reducers on. In my area, we don't really get SHB problems. I'll saw 2 SHB across all my colonies this inspection.
Was into my colonies yesterday. Our weather is a couple weeks behind yours here in Ontario, but found one colony full of swarm cells. We are still getting frost in the mornings.. what are they thinking? 😂
I went and got Heavy Duty fabric and ran a double layer. I just want to make it easy to control the grass underneath and mow around them all. It's so easy now. High gear and go.
Is that an Alpha Hive queen catcher? I tried some of the yellow ones, but the spaces were too big and the queens slipped out. I recently got an aqua colored Alpha hive brand, and I’m hoping it works better.
Hahaha. . I think 15 is my comfort. Maybe more in the years to come, but not now. I want to iron out this single brood and have fun before I go crazy, if I do.
Personal preference. 2 deep boxes used as a brood chamber equal 20 frames that need checked while a single brood equals 10. As far as treatments, the cost is less since you are treating 1 brood box. Less lifting of deeps also, so it saves your back. But, again, it is personal preference. With single brood, you do have to get into them more often.
u found a number you r comfortable with good for you !
Yeah. Last year, I learned that 20+ is not a number for me. With 15, I can still enjoy them without it feeling like "work.""
Thanks Brian. My 3 year old granddaughter was asking questions about bees. I was able to explain some things to her in this video.
Oh cool. . Love hearing that kids are interested in Bees.

Wednesday night. . Maybe you could make it. And appreciate you watching.
This year is crazy! here, we are about 2 to 3 weeks behind you. Nutty.
This season is nutty that's for sure.
Text book bee keeping there hives are looking good 👍 😊
Thanks, Brian. Not always textbook, but it worked out that day.

Thats awesome Rodney. I think this year is early for a lot of folks.

@@OakHollowGarage I've been using Final Cut Pro. Started with iMovie and then transitioned to FCP. 1 price and no yearly expenses.
loving your content! thank you for verbalizing your processes!

Great job Brian. You made that look so easy
Not all days go this smooth. I was lucky.
Nice relaxed bees buddy.👍Grab that girl and give her a new home,😁Nice looking pollen frames.
They were pretty chill. Finding each Queen as easy as I did was a breath of fresh air. Hate when they hide.
Oh I was here and then had to go do something, sorry I missed ya Live. Blessed Days Brain.
No worries. 3pm est is a tough time. Figured i'd just drop it and get on to yard chores. lol

Hey Craig. I have not read that article. Randy is going to be on the live this week, so I'll look it up and ask him about it. Appreciate you watching.
@@CastleHives Oh it's going to be the number one topic he'll want to talk about. His word on things is always a big deal.
@@craigkirich9646 So very true. .
I did some splits last week.
Nice. This season is off to an early start.
Hey nice hat 😂
Love it. Fits my dome great.
Hey Brian I’m curious about why you didn’t shake some bees in the hive you put the queen in?
I go with very conservative splits. My thought is to give them this entire season to build.
@@CastleHives That makes sense. I’m always trying to maximize my honey production so I pretty much do an equal split. Thanks for the videos I always learn something new.
With small colonies I worry about robbing and shb .

Great Video. That colony count is creeping up. LOL before you know it you'll have 20.
I went to 21 last year, and it was way too much for me to manage properly. 14 or 15 will be my max.
👍
Thanks Brad.

Dang, that's crazy, I had one like that, swarmed 2nd week of April. Our low for the next 2 weeks is 50, so the season is here. Good seeing you 86. .
Love your stand setup! Is that sand or de underneath?

I'm not sure, I just know it is a one handed Queen catcher. It's been like 8 years since I bought it.
I will let you have 15 this year but next year #brian20

Why some people stack boxes and some people prefer single box?
