      Injuries aren't just fate. They greatly depend on how you behave on and off the court: practice, technique, diet, physiotherapy etc. Therefore injuries are a sign of weaknesses in on ore more areas. Agree?

Impresionante Delpo .

    As an Argentine, I remember seeing this match with my father, it was his first slam, very long-suffering and disputed. A pity that delpo has had to go through so many injuries and stops in his career, he had everything to be number 1 in the ranking at least once, he could have retired but he kept fighting and returned to play a final of us open in 2019, he won The long-awaited 2016 Davis Cup for Argentina, won 1000 masters and got two medals at the London and Rio Olympic Games. Great example about hard work and like a sportsman. Besides that he is a gentleman on and off the court as Roger is too!

      As long as Roger is active on the tour he can't be ruled out. But, over the years USO have significantly slowed down the courts, so much that people started calling it Clay Slam 2.0. So, more suitable to Rafa's and Novak's and Stan's game. Inspite of all this, Roger is super talented to suddenly win 1 more USO before retirement. He was unlucky in 2018 (severe heat impact, lost to Millman) and 2019 (back had failed him, lost to Grigor)... and those 2 had lost in their immediate next round.

    • @chavarrie.b8698

      @@madhukiranattivilli2321 You're wrong; what they took from Federer were the Rodick, Hewit, Ferrero, Gonzáles and Safin. Now if he has two very tough rivals. You don't remember that Rafa already beat Federer on hard courts in 2005 and 2006; Miami 2004 and Dubai 2006, at that time Rafa was barely 17-19 years old. Why do you think Federer has never been able to be number 1 in a season after 2009, which is when Rafa and Djokovic were 22 years old or older.

    • @madhukiranattivilli2321
      @madhukiranattivilli2321 4 ปีที่แล้ว +25

      @@chavarrie.b8698 I said Roger can still win. I didn't compare with others. I believe Roger is naturally more talented than Djoker n Rafa. So if RF ND RN debuted at exactly the same time and of the same age, Roger would've had the upper hand, however small the margins are. But I can't prove this, obviously! So, keeping this aside, I'm 100% ok if RN n ND dominate RF. I'm neither the 3 of them. I'm the spectator. To me, watching RF's game gives max joy (this match RF lost, still am watching for the same reason). Since he plays with panache n creativity n grace, I would love him to play as long as he can, and if feasible to him, win a few more GSs. There is no point in getting into the comparison debates. So, even before the debate starts, I'm ok to accept that RN n ND dominate RF, no probs w/ that. Infact, there is a very high chance for both of them to cross his GS tally by the time the big3 retire.

      Federer lost this match due to mental issues but those were related to what the media was talking about. Media was going on about Del Potro's flatter and powerful forehand, and people were giving too much credit to those headlines. Federer wanted to show everyone his FH is the best and it was but he forced the issue too much. You can see him trying to go for FH to FH even though it compromised his position on the court. If you rewatch the match while knowing this, you'll see how much this was on Fed's mind.

      Mentally checked out, happened to the best of them.
      He just surpassed Sampras at Wimbledon, he did not meant to take it easy, but with a clear goal in his head suddenly gone, it affects his game.
      The same way Novak crashed after RG16, he managed 4 consecutive GS, holding them all at the same time. He proceed to lose them all in the year to come.

      Nah, I think Fed knew easy slams were at an end for him (he made a comment to that effect after beating Nadal at Wimbledon in 2007) but I think he was just a bit arrogant in this match, going at Delpo's forehand...LOL!

    • @pomerlain8924
      @pomerlain8924 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Sam Forbes Exactly. DelPo had to take this match from Fed. Fed didn't give it to him. Once DelPo woke up late in the second set, and realized that he can play with Fed, his confidence grew and he gradually took the match away from Fed.

    • @SamgorasGD
      @SamgorasGD 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't think they are saying than he gave the match to DelPo. I think the point is: "Okay, I have now 15 GS, finally got RG and my great WB, I'm 28, I'll probably play maybe for a long time, he is on his first GS ever final, I think I have too much advantage to take this". Also in that moment Nadal was 6GS, and having 12 or 14 in that years was like a crazy stuff, so in that moment Roger maybe was in comfort with his 15. I think than Roger or Rafa didn't thought thna they're gonna battle for the record after 11 years, If you see it, it's crazy.
