I love this Coug team. They got so much to be proud of. We’re with you all the way Coach Dickert. Our Cougs will do great against Syracuse. Go Cougs! ❤️🩶❤️🩶❤️🩶
They won't do great if they play the same way as they played against New Mexico, Oregon State, and Wyoming. If they play like they played against those three teams, they'll get THROTTLED.
Anyone that names themselves "user" is most likely a loser. What you say in this comment is most likely true, not what is most likely to happen. However I give you credit for not flat out lying in this comment as you said John announced was going in the portal. I'll always remember you "user" as the untruth of WSU Athletics TH-cam page. To your subject at hand. They've played in that San Diego stadium on that turf. We have a massive amount of fans in that area, not to mention the fans that will fly in. I wholeheartedly believed Jake will get the team ready and will take them to victory. Good play or bad. And let me remind you again, John and Jake aren't going anywhere.
@@william_mac You claim that playing at WSU is "not about money". Yet if Mateer stays at WSU (which I hope he does), then the reason he stayed will be because WSU has offered him a more lucrative NIL deal to convince him to stay. So why the HELL do you keep saying "it's not about money", when WSU is LITERALLY, offering John Mateer more NIL money in hopes that he doesn't hit the portal!!??????🙄
Well, with insignificant bowl games, like the Holiday Bowl, you can bet that many players, from both sides, will opt out from playing. Thus, the WSU and Syracuse teams you saw in the regular season, may not be the same teams that show up to play in the Holiday Bowl.
The Cougs are intact. adj. 1. Remaining sound, entire, or uninjured; not impaired in any way. 2. Having all physical parts So let's get excited and not doubt our Cougs!
We are now a minor league farm team for all the large universities. Any success developing any players big teams come in spend money and they leave. I used to go to all the bowl games but no way I’m gonna spend thousands of dollars to go see Red shirt freshman who have never even played a game. This is such a joke. AAA baseball = WSU Athletics
@@derrickpotter601 I respectfully disagree. WSU Cougars are not about money, not even with the new format. Listen closely to the interviews and you'll learn. It's all about the love, respect & team. Yes we lost our last quarterback to Miami. He did not have a good relationship with the staff. I sat right behind the bench last year for all home games 10 rows from the ground. We are okay losing Cam. Just not a good fit. However John and Jake? That works for the team. John has money thanks to the casino. He doesn't need 10 million right now. He needs to develop and harden his skills. He's a smart guy he knows. And Jake's not going to uproot his family when they started a life here. So just get over the money thing that's not what Pullman and WSU football is about. Maybe that's what Cam was about, but he's gone, and he's not that great.
I couldn't agree more. Teams like WSU need to recruit long and hard to find that "diamond in the rough" player. They find that player, bring him to Pullman, develop him, and he starts doing really well playing for WSU. Then a team that has access to big time NIL money will notice this player, and they'll offer him a 3-million dollar NIL deal, and the Cougs will NEVER be able to match that. ALL of the great Cougar players of the past - Marcus Trufant, Hercules Mataafa, Rein Long, Will Derting, Ike Brown, Drew Bledsoe, Gabe Marks, Andre Dillard, Frankie Luvu, Luke Falk, Dom Williams, Dezmond Patmon, Jamal Morrow, James Williams, etc., etc., etc. would have all left for big NIL deals.
Again "user" understanding WSU football and Pullman will not and is not ever about money. That is the most direct way I can explain it to you. A) people that visit the Pullman campus that have been recruited by our staff know what they're getting into. They know before they come here if they like it or not. B) certainly Pullman & WSU Athletics specifically the football team is much different than you'll get in Miami, Chicago, St Louis or Detroit. The sooner you realize that the sooner you'll be happy with what we have. A positive approach works a hell of a lot better then claiming people are leaving and all the negative comments. 1. Review the interviews John has done. 2. Why make a list of players from the past? The past is the past it's not coming back. Try to get into the present without lying.
@@william_mac If it's "not about money", then why did Pat Chun leave? Why did Cam Ward leave? And, if it's not about money, then WHY did WSU have to put together a new NIL package, that reportedly involves a lot more money, in hopes of convincing Mateer to stay in Pullman? If it's "not about money", then WSU wouldn't even have to pay Mateer any NIL money, right? If it's "not about money", he'd stay in Pullman even if he weren't getting paid, right? As a Syracuse alumnus, I look forward to a great bowl game with you guys. You have a heck of a QB too that will be hard to contain.
Yes...the 2003 Holiday Bowl vs. Texas was awesome ! Let's build on that memory.
Will Derting stood out in that game.
Win a bowl game here, and I'll forgive one of those last three losses. Can also even out the PAC's record against the ACC this year.
Noticed how he tap danced around a direct answer to the "how many of the guys are going to suit up for the game...."
I’m sure he won’t know for two weeks
@@nickacord3136 Enough time to polish his tap shoes and figure new tap steps, should they be needed.

Look at the numbers that the Grand Orange put up vs. Miami. I shudder to think what they might do against the WSU defense.....good luck guys....gulp.
Defense was Miami's downfall, also! They weren't very good on D!
