I was just speaking with an EE friend who also watches this outstanding channel.
    He suggested, and I concur…
It would be great to hear a history of your experiences working at Wavetek, especially the products you worked with, developed or assisted in the development of.
Thank you for a great channel with videos I love to watch, nearly daily production of these videos sure must be a lot of work.
Hopefully you know how much your hard work is truly appreciated?

I played with one in the late 70s! It's amazing they could generate +10dBm at 1.4GHz using transistors whose fT was roughly that value. And I was intrigued how the markers amplitude was exactly the same across the whole range. I'd love to DIY an analogic sweeper based in heterodyning, though with a more modest range, partly out of nostalgia.

The signal gen you may be thinking is the 3001 or 3002. It has a 2 MHZ VFO to provide FM modulation. This VFO was quite noisy and generated tons of residual FM on the output.

Oh good...I have one sitting in the repair queue so this should be very helpful! BTW, I also have the 3001 RF signal generator which I think is the one you were thinking of; always liked those thumbwheel switches to select the frequency!

yes, that's the one. I thought the front panel was a good design.

Hi, Can we build a microphone anti-hooting or feedback prevention circuit by designing an auto frequency detecting notch filter or something like the working principle of a sweep generator?

They also had a RF division in San Diego, CA USA

I have 2 3001s and both of them have problems. One of them shows it locked but outputting every frequency way wrong, where it don't even try to put out any frequency that is close to what I select, the other one is in totally unlocked condition and has one of the frequency switches jammed.. Maybe, I can get one of them working by combining parts. They are totally a mess to work on with parts crammed into those sardine cans.

Hi, can you make a series explaining the basic of communications circuits ?

    • @IMSAIGuy

that is a good idea, what would you like it to include?

@@IMSAIGuy Bit late here! Personally I would really enjoy a video/series where you design a radio (could only be RX), maybe something like 40M, and explain your thought process. I see lots of designs online, but never the actual process of designing it with the considerations taken during the design. I am not sure if this would take too long to do, but I thought it would be worth asking!

It looks like the red stop marker has been rubbed off at some point. How odd. :) Nice bit of kit.

by the time I finished, I noticed the green one was missing too. Haven't opened it up yet to fix that.
