it was a rhythm driven band, the whole sound is based upon Malcolm's rhythm which is complimented with the bass line and obviously the drums, the timing is what makes AC/DC so good at what they do. Angus played on or around that rhythm/timing and it really made a distinct sound.
They were particularly louder than usual on this your with a lot more bottom end which gave them power..more than usual.thicker...damn ..it was a great era for our Heavy metal...we really ruled...
"Freeze!" said the man cruising the beat "You get your hands up, spread your feet" "Don't you move an inch", I heard him say "Or you'll be doin' time until the judgement day" And he said, "Don't tell me no lies, give me alibis 'Cause if you cross my path, you'll be doin' life" It's a dirty lie It's a shakedown (and it's a nervous shakedown) Another shakedown (another nervous shakedown) Well it's a shakedown (and it's a nervous shakedown) We got a shakedown Another nervous shakedown It's looking like a set-up "Take a dime," said the man, "you can make one call" "You got a one way ticket to the county hall" Well the judge looked high and I looked low When he smiled at me it was a one man show He said, "10-to-5, the jury decides Double parole, if you survive" It's a dirty li Lord they're gonna get you this time And throw away the key It's a shakedown (and it's a nervous shakedown) Another shakedown (another nervous shakedown) You got a shakedown (and it's a nervous shakedown) Well it's a shakedown (another nervous shakedown) Shake it down, shake it down (and it's a nervous shakedown) Well it's a shakedown (another nervous shakedown) Shake it down, shake it down (and it's a nervous shakedown)
Initially I was confused by the slow pace of the band. Then I realized the band was playing live at half pace because the original studio recording was being put in its place for the official video for the song.Watch the official video to see what I mean.GREAT to see this though.
1:14 I love it how Brian can't keep up with his own voice. Back in the studio it sounded amazing but he can't do it live here. No offense to Brian at all, just found it interesting :)
I think he's just not having good day in this rehearsal, 'cause the chorus notes in this song are pretty easy by Brian's standards. For example Thunderstruck from Donington live 8yrs later he just murders it and that song has even higher singing. 😶
I have heard some rumors that during this album period, Brian Johnsons voice slowly started to weaken. That's because of him getting older and him screaming the life out of his vocal cords. Which is good sounding, band and his style of vocal, but his vocal cords also started weakening. Which lead to voice cracks like the one at 0:56. Not to do any destructive criticism, AC/DC is my favorite band of all time. I am just trying to clear the rumors up.
Brian belts it out like nobody else. Very few people have voices that could handle that kind of singing regularly for very long. You can tell, even on the album (FOTS), he sounds a bit different than he did in '80-'81. Here, he was still trying to sing exactly like he used to and his voice just can't handle it. By the FOTW album/tour, he started singing in a lower register and he sounded much better live. Same thing happened in '91, he couldn't hit the same notes from BIB so he sang in a lower register and it sounded great.
Mike utubesux That's what I love about this guy. Gonna come out and say it but his voice was pretty awful during BUYV, but he brought it right back with a crisp sound in Razors Edge. Personally I think the 90s was when his voice was prime. Not to mention he's still kicking ass in Rock or Bust now.
John Wolf Personally I love his vocals for Back in Black especially with Shoot to Thrill that was a once in a life time recording he can't even hit it that high live ever again.
Axl/DC needs to go beyond Back In Black and the usual. Lucky for me, I heard "Let's Get It Up", "Play Ball", "Moneytalks" and "Are You Ready" on the radio so far during the Axl/DC madness other than the concert setlist.
@RnRAddict AC/DC played this on the Flick of the Switch Tour, then dropped it for new songs from the newer material in future tours, like Who Made Who, DT, Thunderstruck, Are You Ready, Money Talks, etc...
Angus is playing the intro completely different than most TABs are written. Always wondered how he got the 5/2 spread so clean. Answer: He doesn't, because it's not played that way!
Nice to see behind the scenes. But it makes me wonder why Brian wrote songs that he himself was hardly able to sing back then. Interestingly and luckily his voice has improved over the years.
I think if AC/DC chose quality over quantity in the 80s and For those about to rock, Flock of the switch, Fly on the wall, blow up your video was released strategically as 2 albums without the filler, and spaced out the singles using the access as b-sides for the singles they could have been Monster selling albums... But they were hellbent on albums and touring
His Name is Simon Wright, He played the Flick of the Switch Tour (1983) after Phil needed His break, He recorded Fly on the Wall (1985), Who Made Who ( 1986) and Blow Up Your Video (1988) with AC/DC. And he also played all three Tours before Chris Slade stepped in. :)
fuck its the 23-9-2019 , im still rocking to this shit, whos with me, party on
Until watching this I've never really appreciated how much of AC/DC's sound is driven by Cliff
it was a rhythm driven band, the whole sound is based upon Malcolm's rhythm which is complimented with the bass line and obviously the drums, the timing is what makes AC/DC so good at what they do. Angus played on or around that rhythm/timing and it really made a distinct sound.
Poor Cliff never gets any love 💝
Ummm MALCOLM..
Malcom missing a chord at 1:49 and smiling... priceless!
That's what is so good with LIVE music , the click & missed cords , love it loud & live
Even the most expensive, well-groomed dogs have fleas!!!!!
Love it !
I heard thunder today and I knew it was Malcom up there tuning ‘The Beast’.
RIP mate.
The greatest rock n' roll band ever and a KILLER record.
Love the magic goin' on between Mal, & Angus.
They are of one mind; intertwining beautifully.

The Best Song on this Album
Along with BAAAADLANDS
My fav too!!
Landslide!!!
Flick of the Switch. Quite possibly the MOST underrated AC/DC album, along with Powerage.
HEAR HEAR!!

Definitely!!
AC/DC has no bad Album
add ballbreaker to that list. althought most classic lineup fans will say powerage or dirty deeds is their best effort..
Quite an underrated song, but one of their best! iTs A nErVoUs ShAkEdOwN!!😵🤘
The greatest rock band of all time.
Very Very Nice. One of the few times it's been played by AC/DC. Now all we need to do is have it played live....
This is when I apriciated the new singer...Bonn cannot be replaced, It took some major balls to fill in his spot!
great fuckin song / great album
Fantastic song. Simons sounds real good on this - the best he ever sounded with the band. Thank you Mal!
My favorite Johnson era tune
They were particularly louder than usual on this your with a lot more bottom end which gave them power..more than usual.thicker...damn ..it was a great era for our Heavy metal...we really ruled...
I love this band.
Wow what a Band!
Straying into metal here!.. :). I like it!.
Very underrated song and album
i like how brian's voice was not there and he would just smirk, he knew it would get better later, after a few pints and about 3 packs of smokes.
Brian struggling a bit, needs a cold beer to sooth the tonsils 😂
Forlife
acdc is awesome.
"Freeze!" said the man cruising the beat
"You get your hands up, spread your feet"

"Or you'll be doin' time until the judgement day"
And he said, "Don't tell me no lies, give me alibis
'Cause if you cross my path, you'll be doin' life"
It's a dirty lie
It's a shakedown (and it's a nervous shakedown)
Another shakedown (another nervous shakedown)
Well it's a shakedown (and it's a nervous shakedown)
We got a shakedown
Another nervous shakedown
It's looking like a set-up
"Take a dime," said the man, "you can make one call"
"You got a one way ticket to the county hall"
Well the judge looked high and I looked low
When he smiled at me it was a one man show
He said, "10-to-5, the jury decides
Double parole, if you survive"
It's a dirty li
Lord they're gonna get you this time
And throw away the key
It's a shakedown (and it's a nervous shakedown)
Another shakedown (another nervous shakedown)
You got a shakedown (and it's a nervous shakedown)
Well it's a shakedown (another nervous shakedown)
Shake it down, shake it down (and it's a nervous shakedown)
Well it's a shakedown (another nervous shakedown)
Shake it down, shake it down (and it's a nervous shakedown)
Great Song !!
One of my favourite ACDC songs, come on people give this more likes 👍👌
Album sous estimé,un des meilleurs avec Brian 👍👍🤘
@01:47 Malcolm been a human being making a mistake.... epic hahaha
+NathanSGBrazil HOLY FUCK! the one and only time!
Someone made a mistake during Back In Black in Denver on the Black Ice tour.

@@SamLazier Yeah exactly! Nothing wrong with that :)
This is take one. There is takes 2 and 3 online, take 3 is the standard you’d expect 👍

ENORME

***** sadly thats true. Back in black was his best with AC/DC
yea he had hit his prime. TH-cam Geordie 'Treat her like a lady' to get an idea of the range this guy had
Nervous breakdown for this clip!
love it
Man, Singing is really a true struggle sometimes.
👍👍👍

Thanks, pvertes. That's possible indeed.
This must be where Phil Rudd left the group...I know he recorded the album. Stimon did a great job though.
Angus is playing the intro completely different than most TABs are written. Always wondered how he got the 5/2 spread so clean. Answer: He doesn't, because it's not played that way!
this is how it's played: th-cam.com/video/98PrtGT4dTU/w-d-xo.html
note the first 2 intro chords, that are also wrong written in most tabs.
Such a great comment. I remember when I was younger and looked up The Jack I was like 5 2 wtf
Nice to see behind the scenes. But it makes me wonder why Brian wrote songs that he himself was hardly able to sing back then. Interestingly and luckily his voice has improved over the years.
This is from 1983, which happened to be the last year Brian still had his voice intact. He lost it after this tour.
I think if AC/DC chose quality over quantity in the 80s and For those about to rock, Flock of the switch, Fly on the wall, blow up your video was released strategically as 2 albums without the filler, and spaced out the singles using the access as b-sides for the singles they could have been Monster selling albums... Agreed. Two strong albums.
listen 2 BADLANDS AC/DC
One of the best songs on the album, fuckin' mint
I wonder if Simon Wright still gets decent royalties from this album.
Alex Scott Phill Rudd play on the album, Simon joined the band for the tour
$0.00
✔️EPIC ... FIND LOVE IT FUK❗️DOWN TUNED
Wow never mind
CLEVELAND AGORA ROCKIN' FOREVER!! @ClevelandAgora
Angus not dressed in his school boy suit ?
That is not Phil Rudd on drums -who is that?
His Name is Simon Wright, He played the Flick of the Switch Tour (1983) after Phil needed His break, He recorded Fly on the Wall (1985), Who Made Who ( 1986) and Blow Up Your Video (1988) with AC/DC. And he also played all three Tours before Chris Slade stepped in. :)
Simon Wright
It's hard to replace Phil and I just never thought Simon had the proper feel.
Needs phil
Anyone think this sounds like Rising Power?
They should have droped their tuning to D or C, Brian would have sounded much better.
It's Simon. Not stimon.
so was this ever actually done live?
Idk
+ImperialRadioYT no
ImperialRadioYT yes mate . take notice
what does that mean? I'm meant at a concert
@campaigningtv I guess that he's not giving his 100% 'cause this is only one of the takes. Had a look at other takes and he's way better :)
Fly On The Switch. Switch On The Wall. What can you say? They were reaching at this point.
If a man catches a cold there's no way he can hit the notes -
Brian sounds like he just got over a major cold.
Guess not.
Yeah wtf what for name is
stimon think of it man
Brian really struggled in these rehearsals.
geez Brian lay off the cigarettes
Jesus that bass is ugly.
miisu as long as it sounds good that's all that matters
