(3:47)..Indeedy doo...the lady asking about 'splitting it nine ways.." is none other than the Clarinet Queen herself, Doreen Ketchens. A lovely woman, who plays amazingly. Catch her on Royal Street, right in front of Rouses'. She is in person, an absolute darling. And on the clarinet? The angels sing!!!
@@Supernova12034 Yeah it is, written and performed by Shorty's uncle, Jesse Hill. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/7GQDtH1N8U8/w-d-xo.html Enjoy and come on down to New Orleans!
That's Troy and his older brother James comin' off the plane and playing with Wendell Pierce, when they were kids they used to play together as "Twelve and Shorty". Man, I miss that show.
Poor Antoine Batiste, in the shadow of Trombone Shorty. Anyone know where they were eating sushi? Wasabi? Ninja? What's awesome is that the airport scene could easily happen in New Orleans.
I've seen it happen in New Orleans, not with those, but other musicians were doing that at musicians would jam for a song or two. Happens all the time in the music bars too. We just have to get past this "scamdemic" so we can live our music again.
James "Twelve" Andrews, the song is Ooh Poo Pah Doo, by Troy and James' grandfather, Jessie Hill. It was hit in New Orleans around 1960. He died 24 years ago tonight. Check it out: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jessie_Hill Enjoy
The virtuosic clarinet player in that same scene is Doreen Ketchens - still performs on the streets of New Orleans - she's great.
Thanks for the taste of Treme.
That Clarinetist is killing it in the airport
