Your dad's knife is the gem of the collection. I have two butchers knives (scimitars) from my great uncle's butcher shop in Detroit.
    Cool collection.

Your dads knife is bad ass. Just to give my first impressions of it before you story on it, I thought it might be a Friday the 13th reference knife, the story that it’s your dads is far better. I love it, just keep it oiled up and leave it just like that.

A good, inexpensive edc fixed is the Esee Izula 2. Carried one for many years in horizontal appendix carry until I upgraded to a Creely Mako in magnacut a few months ago. Both are very nice knives that can do 90+% of what I need done. Luckily no legal issues with either in my area. The recon tanto is nice as well, have a couple but not quite an edc blade. An Esee 4/6 in scout carry while hiking covers that remaining 10%.
It's always fun to see what our fathers/grandfathers made in their teens, especially compared to what our teens are taught these days. Still have a large steel toolbox my grandfather made in shop class around 1930. Heavy duty and well made. Most schools don't even have shop anymore. The wife has a Moro Barong with a 12 inch blade that her great grandfather made for his son to take with him in WW2. Reminds me of the knife your father made.

That’s awesome. Yes interesting to see what our parents made verses what teens today make 🙊
Thanks for sharing. And yes I had an Izula years ago.

I just got my first fixed blade this year. I carry it to work everyday but not on me. Either attached to or in the small pocket of my backpack. Still getting used to wearing it on my belt. I’m afraid I’ll cut my beer belly when I place it back in the leather sheath. Love that Jim Skelton glow in the dark fixie btw.
