  • Join me in TH-cam video as we set out on what was meant to be an epic wild camping adventure in the breath taking Cheviot Hills. Which turns into a Wild camp Disaster. At 518mtrs
    🏕️ The Setup 🏕️
The gear was prepped, spirits were high, and the anticipation was electric as I pitched my tents against the stunning backdrop of the Cheviot Hills. The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden hue over the landscape, promising a good night
    🌬️ The Unforeseen Twist 🌬️
However, as fate would have it, nature had other plans in store for me. In an unexpected turn of events, my tent suffered a dramatic rip, creating a Wildcamp Disaster
Making a decision to call a halt to the adventure and return back to the van.

Sorry about how this incident and how it affected your trip.

  • @grahamswildcamping

Gutted for you. That's bad craic about the tent especially considering the price. The response from Durston Dan seems to be spot on though

  • @LundysWildcampBushcraft

What a gutter Nick hopefully you got it sorted out i hada good night on Easter tor its always windy up there wester tor has a cracking pitch area atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

  • @thebackingpackinggeordie

Gutted for you mate, I was looking at getting one of them!

  • @northumberlandmountainhopper

Hi and what a shame, wonder if it was faulty stitching !

  • @northumberlandmountainhopper

Hi and a shame not many xmid fails on you tube, unlucky !

  • @dekacoombe4595

Gutted mate ,hope you get it sorted 👍🏻

  • @philholden1636

The pole tip will only stay in the ferrule if you set the pole length so that it is a taught pitch right away. The trouble is it is too late to be told that now and I'm gutted for you. The first time I used my Tarptent Notch I was scared that I'd mess it up and the tip would go through the fabric but after a few pitches I got more confident. I reckon that your tent could be repaired so it will be fine for years to come quite easily so I wouldn't give up on it. If the tip into grommet/ferrule wasn't the issue and it was a manufacturing fault then I'm sure Durston will sort it for you. Dan is a good guy and stands by his products.

    Hello 👋. Nice video 👍🥾⛰️🐾🌳

  • @trickofthetrail

Sorry that happened mate. I'll be sure to keep an eye on mine when popping the trekking pole in. Always gutting when you have to bail. Good luck on your walk mate. Enjoy!

  • @TonyKitchen471

Thanks for sharing, its all a learning curve, thankfully in a good position to bale our. Be interesting what the manufacturer says ?

  • @happycampersNewcastle

Sorry to see this mate hope you got sorted

  • @brentmarch3602

Hi, could you possibly share your route? Looks like a very clear and well define path. I don’t recognise the first gate you passed through. Great video, shame about the tent though!

  • @BrianWright-ui3wo

What a disaster. Hope you get your money back including import tax etc., fingers crossed. Your wild camp area had all the makings of a good night away. At least it didn't happen in the darkness.

  • @craig3401

Its never good when you have to bail because of equipment failure.ive been very close to getting the xmid and tbh ive seen a few who arnt that happy with them especially with the summit camps we do so i think I'll carry the extra weight and stick to the traditional tent.i was on hare law last Sunday was very windy but it dropped off so was ok.

My X-Mid wetted out on me on the Cape Wrath Trail, not impressed with it tbh
