I have seen 2 years of wait time for even CR1 interview appointment lately. The backlog is large and cleanup is slow. Have not seen the plan to up the visa processing resources.

The immigration visa application case is usually assigned to the consulate of your residence country. Most applicants’ residence country is the birth country. Some people like you live elsewhere. As long as you disclosed in the visa application the correct information on your nationality and residence country (even they are different) and you are able to provide the evidence showing you do have legal residency in Trinidad during the interview, it should not affect your interview. You want to prepare to provide justification because this question will likely be asked during the interview. I wish you luck. Please share with us your good news.

According to the visa issuance statistics, Consulate can adjust the priority when they process interviews monthly. Their backlog size is huge comparing to the cleaning capacity.
