Sir: You just made my morning. I bought a very lightly used 2020 Vstrom 650XT a few weeks ago from private seller at a great price. Has 3000 miles on it and needed a thorough cleaning and full service plus I installed different factory hard bags and a Givi Airflow-2. Just took it for a spin yesterday before dark here in Southern PA and it runs beautifully EXCEPT the incredibly annoying dash rattle associated with the gauge cluster. As soon as I reached forward and put a slight amount of pressure on the cluster the noise went away. Clearly there is something loose or a wiring harness touching somewhere that it shouldn't be. Spent an hour last night trying to figure out how to access the back of the cluster and solve this. Was stumped until I just found your vid. Again, I can't thank you enough. Wish me luck with this rattle and Merry Christmas to you and yours. John/Lancaster County, PA
Hello PA! Congrats on your wonderful 2020 V-strom! I'm very happy to hear my video was so valuable to you! Many thanks for your great comment! 👍 Merry Christmas to you as well John!
I have ridden the same bike for 2 years. Actually it has pretty good lighting performance despite using halogen bulbs, owing to its good reflector / housing. I have also switched to led bulbs but not because of poor lights, rather to save some juice for heated grips. Ride safe. Cheers.
That's very good thinking to save some amp juice for your grips! Also another benefit I like is the color that the LED emits 👌 Thank you for your comment!
Thanks for this it inspired me to tackle my headlight bulb today it was actually to remove the LED bulb installed by garage last week, it was a osram with a fan on the back, dazzled every car coming so switched back to halogen. Perfect instruction !
Great info. Are these led's still functioning? Have a '22 DL and don't want these burning out prematurely. Look great. Stock bulbs don't cut it. thanks.
Nice with the 22 DL 👌Yes they are! Also using the exact ones on the Hayabusa, never had an issue at all and they look sooo much better! Totally agree, the stock one don't cut at all ☺️ if you where to purchase pls use the link in the description, it costs the same for you but the channel gets a small commission from the sale.
@@MototalkUSA Will do. I have a Z900 and a Z900RS that have really bright leds and I need all the visibility I can get. Got hit last year and busted my elbow. These people are crazy out here. That Busa must be wild. I'll have to stick with my Kawis.I don't trust myself. Thanks again.
@@TrustyZ900many thanks! Nice with the Z900! What a great machine that is 👌 It is a jungle out there, I hope your elbow recovered and yes, the Busa is crazy wild, I dk how it's ok to sell motorcycles like that 🤣😅
I ordered the bulbs using your links. I noticed that for two of the bulbs Amazon stated that they were NOT the correct fitment for my 2018, 650 VStrom. Are your links correct?
Sometimes I noticed Amazon vehicle fitment isn't correct, but those are the exact bulbs I used on the V-strom and the Hayabusa. They fit on both bikes. If for any reason they don't fit, just return them.
It seems like a fan isn't needed for the low beam, most likely doesn't get as hot like the high beam and also it's a clearance issue, if it did had a fan it would be really hard or impossible to fit because it sticks out a good amount. I've been using these on the Hayabusa as well for 2 years with no issues at all. They're solid 💪
What no one is thinking about is that this mod can actually be illegal in some areas. Guess it's to do with the point of the light source being different causing a different light pattern and blinding other drivers. Great video though.
It might be illegal in some areas but here no problems. I haven't had a blinding problem on this bike or on the Hayabusa. I used the same bulbs on both. Like I mentioned in another comment any extra weight or passenger or headlight out of level could cause to blind oncoming traffic.
The newer LED's have solved the issue with the positioning of the light source. For a while they couldn't make them small enough to get the LED chips in the same position as a halogen filament so the reflector didn't work well with them. Now they are putting out good patterns with tight cutoffs, but in more of a daylight white and a bunch more lumens...
@@dkindig Very good info here!👌👌 That's very interesting 👍 Thank you for sharing this with us. The ones I used do seem really good quality and hearing this now makes sense !

Thanks man and congratulations on your New V-strom! I've been wanting to make a video on that but haven't yet. They sell special torque wrenches and etc but I do it the simple way. I give a little pressure with a wrench on the spoke, just a tiny bit, nothing crazy, if it turns relatively easy fine if not, It seems good and I go to the next one. Also don't do them all in a row. I do one then I jump 4 and do that one and jump another 4 and so on. This is so the wheel doesn't get warped. But your bike is brand new, I would let it go for a while.
@@MototalkUSA got it a month and half ago have 1900 on it now. Iv read not doing it one after the other. I’ll just tighten anything that’s a bit easy to turn. Thanks!
Hi! Thanks for this video! I hope that DL1000 have same front light 😅 One question - you don't need to add any "special electric thing" to use LED bulb? Just cheng bulb from halogen to LED and good to go? 🧐
Hello, You're very welcome! No, you don't need to use a resistor for the LED headlight bulbs. You just plug them in and you're good to go. Resistors are needed only for turn signal bulbs so they do not blink very fast.
Hi, thanks a lot for your video, I want to change my lights and this video is perfect. Just a question, is it possible to put a bulb with fan on the H9 ? Thanks :)
I'm pleased to hear you liked this video and it's helpful! The H9 bulb I'm using for the high beam has a fan. If what you meant was that you want a fan for the low beam H7, I wouldn't think it will fit because of the spring that holds the bulb and also the rubber cap. It is not needed anyways for the low beam, I ran these bulbs also on my Hayabusa for hours and hours in the summer with no problems. Also I have the links of all the lights in the description of the video.
