My sister and I went to see EJ in MI at one point, and we left when he started the last song..Your Song...to beat the crowd. All of a sudden we heard a loud THUNDERING and realized....EEK!!! It's over and they are coming!!! Our car was parked near the opening for a fast getaway....and as it turned out that's where the tour bus was, etc. All of a sudden we saw a guy running in a top hat to the limo...it was EJ. My sister screamed ELTON!!! He stopped, tipped his hat at us and got in the limo. It was awesome
i was at one of those shows.let me tell u...i have seen just about all of the supposed great acts in the history of rock n roll....and the 76 elton tour at MSG in NY....was one of the greatest shows i have ever seen...in fact it was one of the greatest entertainment experiences i have ever had..in fact...it is one of the most memorable experiences of my life...thats how good the show was...they started at 9pm and played till midnight...elton at the top of his game....and i read the review where that asshome said u should stay home and listen to linda rostadt albums...well i have seen linda in concert she aint a showman or show person...amature hour compared to elton in his prime...
For real - I go to see Elton in concert at MSG in NYC August 1976 - the greatest show I ever saw - close to 3 hours - he was great, set list terrific, band super tight - the next day I read that NY Times review and thought this writer was not at the same show i was at last night - and I will never forget the line about instead of going to this show you are better off staying home and listening to a Linda Ronstadt record - i was incensed by that cheap shot - and here in 2022 i see this interview for the first time and Elton not only calls out that review but the Ronstadt line - incredible - i have seen just about all of the supposed great live acts in my life - and to this day that Elton show in August 1976 is truly one of the highlight entertainment experiences of my life. PS - a year later I saw Linda Ronstadt in concert - a great voice but a forgettable concert and she was not a dynamic performer in any way shape or form - thats no slight to her, its just the truth - not in Elton's league on a stage in concert - then again - not many were or are.
Love that he mentioned Joni Mitchell several times. He must’ve just heard her Hejira album that came out in November of that year, it’s definitely one of her best!
I liked the question about wring songs that sound similar to other songs he already wrote. I honesty can't think of two Elton John songs that sound alike. I've seen Elton John perform several times and I love it when he drags out the obscurities. "Your Song" and "Daniel" are alright but I've heard them a million times. I've never been disappointed by any of his performances. Of the concerts I've seen the best was in San Francisco in June 1982. It was almost 3 hours.
Interesting that they played "Your Starter For.." at the end given that it was written by Caleb Quaye and not Elton. Great little song and perfect segue into "Tonight."
I love you, ELTON! I noticed right away that you're wearing the WATFORD shirt! I'm American & I support Watford! I think you know why! Because of you Darling!💜💙💚💛🧡❤
OMG. Snyder (who is AWESOME) saying tickets were over $200......ROFL. In 2019 I paid $500 a piece for 2 tickets, and our seats were horrible. We couldn't see the screen behind him, or the band....and only EJ when his piano moved to our side. LOL It's not his fault, it was the venue. Won't go there again. I can't go to concerts anymore, thankful I was able to see him one last time.

Tom Snyder is a very good interviewer and he always had good questions for EJ.

68 percent tax rate in England ? Wow That's crazy
Indeed. Labour government at that time. Squeeze the enterprising and drive them abroad
Whats the song at the beginning of the video
“Your Sister Can’t Dance but she can Rock n Roll.”
