      Do you have any ideas as to why you felt as if you rode twice as far?

    Thank you for the demonstration! Most go for speed in their demos, and it's nice that you took your time to explain the importance of each aspect of this very well designed folder. Keep in touch - Jack

    Thanks for presenting, I've had a Mariner for almost ten years with very reliable service, I live car-free and primarily use my Dahon for out of town trips when I must resort to renting a car (ie where no mass transit exists), so, I ride my Mariner down to the car rental and do the reverse when I return, and of course, in my host city I maintain my car-free lifestyle using the Mariner to get around. I removed the fenders, switched the tires out with knobby tires, replaced the pedals with aluminum claw pedals and mounted a basket on the rack. It's all highly functional and doesn't inhibit folding the bike at all. Really love the ride. One problem, I have to have the tires trued about every other year, spokes just break. No big deal. And of course I've replaced the brake pads a couple time- that's just routine maintenance. Again, thanks for sharing.

    Very well done thanks. No crazy music and a slow methodical presentation

    Just want to add my opinion here, I really, really, really wanted a Brompton "just-because" but they have to be custom-ordered and living in Canada that fantasy-kitted bike would cost about $6,000 just to start with, look on TH-cam at how easy it is to steal bikes, I wouldn't be comfortable leaving it anywhere... I used to have a Raleigh folder in the middle 1960s and it was such a great bike, that led me to these Dahons. After 10 years of thinking-about it I sat on a 2019 Mariner yesterday and minutes later owned it without even taking it for a spin, really-impressed I was. Cost to me was about 3 days pay and it has fenders and-all 😉 If it gets stolen it won't be the end of the world and I would immediately get another one it's that good. Just-saying... 🤗

      I've got a Brompton and a Dragon. The Brompton is the the best folder but the Dahon beats it hands down for rideability. Every time I ride the Brompton I get paranoid it'll get stolen. You made the right choice!

    I have 2 of these bikes. Great, super solid bikes that are fun to use. I have 2 other Dahon folding bikes for my boat. I have to say the Mariner is more difficult to fold correctly than the other two. It can be a bit frustrating. The one thing I don't like about the way Dahon engineered the folding design is how the handle bars fold between the wheels. You have to have the length pretty much perfect or the handle bars prevent the magnets snapping together. I like the way the Brompton bikes fold. Its a better design but they are very expensive. Again, this is a solidly built product and fun to use.

    Thanks for the review. However, I think I'll keep my folding Montague Paratrooper 26" MTB. Folded up, it easily fits in the trunk of my car, and those big 26" wheels can really get me going on a long, flat road (20+ mph). It's the straight-line speed that concerns me most. I usually take a long 70 mile road trip out to Montauk Point every summer, and the Montague gets me there in about 3 1/2 hours. I doubt if the Dahon can perform as well. Also, my Montague weighs in at 29 lbs, which is similar to your little device. All in all, I see no reason to trade my full-size Montague for a more poorly-performing, less rugged Dahon. I would like to add that the United States Army uses the folding Montague MTB for their Paratrooper units on special assignment into enemy territory. After all, nothing is quieter than a pedal-driven bike.

    Beautiful bike. You can see from the welds that this bike is excellent in quality construction. Glad you told us about the weight and how it rides. I could tell that with that large front sprocket it would be too high geared for my town. I live on an aluvial fan and everything is up hill. For a leisure bike, you don't want to work too hard to get around. Thanks.

    I know you said the bike rates moderately poor for long treks. Would this be a reasonable choice for a 4-mile one-way commute, nevertheless? My terrain is mostly flat. Thx.

      I have 2 of these bikes and yes it would easily work on a 4 mile trek. Its actually much better than the guy in this video states. I ridden it for 10 to 15 miles with very little effort. Its a great bike.

    Maybe i'm blind, but i cant seem to see the weight of this bike in the description?! Or maybe I was hearing things when you stated that you would put it in the video description. I did however follow the "amazon" link you provided and finally on the second page of the answered questions page, The weight seems to be 26lbs. Otherwise great video and review. thanks for sharing.!!

    I know of two, though the price is preventing me from getting either one at this moment: the Dahon Vitesse D7HG and the Dahon Mu N-360 - Both use internal gears but with quite different technology.

    • @ureviews
      @ureviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have it anymore. I bought it for my Daughter and she ended up not using it much. I sold it and got another one with continuous gearing that I didn't like (Which I sold too), this model felt much more balanced front to back. It's a good product. HOWEVER (big however), a full size bike is way more comfortable, especially for me at 6.1 height.

    Those foldable bikes are for hopping around subways, trains and etc. Please don't compare with the conventional bikes, they are totally big different.
