    That strategy with supernova and Mecatol Rex is absolutely disgusting and I love it. If I ever get get a chance to do it, I'm not hesitating one bit. Great video, keep it up!

    In case anyone else is confused and has only played the base game of Twilight Imperium 4 the sling relay card was introduced in the expansion for Twilight Imperium called prophecy of Kings.

    Great video! Love these :)
    Had my first round of PoK yesterday with my 2 cousins. I got the Creuss faction, and it was quite the fun board layout as all 3 players had an alpha and a beta wormhole next to their home systems.
    I agree with alot of what you said about techs. New to the expansion, I overlook the AI Development Algorithm card which I think was a disasterous mistake, but I ended up with a lot of combat techs anyway and instead picked the Self-Assembling Routines which at least proved to have REALLY good synergy with Sling Relay. The mechs also proved to be quite a defensive powerhouse since no one wanted to attack systems where my mechs were in fear of heavy PDS II fire (as long as my agent card was ready).
    The Hero ability was REALLY fun! I swapped an alpha for a beta outside of both of my opponent's home system so that each one either had only 2 alphas or 2 betas, allowing me an absurd mobility advantage. This backfired eventually since I got kinda unpopular (obviously), but it was still really fun! :D

    I'm looking forward to my next game, this time wirh the Creuss for the first time. While other factions only need some techs that make sense for them, with the Creuss my head is already spinning because there are so many good options to choose from. Before I thought that going full blue with a little bit of green for more command tokens would make sense. Now I see all the viable possibilities for unit upgrades and red techs that I'm hyper nervous to choose badly. We will have a Nekro first timer at the table so spreading out too thinly on the board would not be advisable. I'm really excited to see how this faction will play out in practice.

    "The Scourge of Xanadu" was the name of the legendary destroyer that was sent out from the Shaleri anomaly during round 2 into Nestphar, at the time governed by Benks.
    Now, Bunks has the quirk that he renames many of the territories he controlls, thereamong Nestphar, which became known as Xanadu. Being the Arborec, a blockaded homesystem really didn't bother Bynks, and the Scourge was allowed to stay above Xanadu.
    Unbeknownst to Bonks, the Scourge of Xanadu was armed with a Singularity Reactor, which when activated bent the fabric of space itself, and put Xanadu in the equidistant on the other side of the board. The galactic stage was thought to be set in round 1, but sometimes it only takes a single destroyer to shake things up a whole lot.

      I might come back to TH-cam later this year. Overall, im not sure my videos here were really getting the traction I was looking for though. I might give it another go and see but more than likely ill try something different.

    Ghosts are the best faction in the game. I've never won with them (came very close one time but lost to some stupid terrible rolls in a battle I should have won). But I've never not had fun with them.
    I love causing chaos by selling Creuss IFF to player 1 so he can pick up a system in player 2s system. Then if I'm feeling extra cruel I'll use wormhole generator to remove that token so his fleet is now stranded with no way home (don't worry player 1, I'll sell you Creuss IFF again so you can take them back home if they survive player 2s retaliation.)
    I definitely think I'll be going to the Sling Relay>Wormhole gen>Aida> dread 2> lightwave path next game.
    They're quite possibly the most complex race in Twilight.
    I find you can make a lot of money with Creuss IFF/wormhole gen/your agent if you just pay attention to everyone else's objective needs and use your wormholes to help people obtain them.
    Also, mechs can be a great defensive tool. If someone activates a system with the intention to move through your alpha to a board alpha, just remove the mech, place the alpha, and they probably don't have the movement to make it there anymore.
    And the hero is stupidly fun.
    So much crazy potential to mix things up they're never boring

      I always getting creamed playing ghosts because people don't like the mobility threat and focus target me. I had a game where I made a massive mistake and tried to use experimental battlestation on my home planet and popped a mech on my home planet for a gamma wormhole to shoot at the LZ1 player attacking malice... sabotage, then warfare to my home system... I have a question. Can you switch mecatol rex and mallice? Because that would also mean that you have mecatol infinitely, but mallice just doesnt fit to the place

    Thank you for the nice explanatory videos! I would like to be as supportive and kind as possible - this feedback is too direct and falls out of usual politeness conventions. It might also touch on sth that is very hard/impossible to change, but if it were possible - it is certainly worth it. The recording sounds very much as if you were speaking with a blocked nose - like having a cold. Views might also suffer from this.
    I have allergies myself, so I know this all too well. I have freed myself from the symptoms of dust mite allergy (running nose all year round) through desensitization. Now I am trying this for grasses.
    A friend of mine was speaking with a boy's voice at the age of 21. Like he didn't go fully through voice change. And then he solved it through exercises with a speech-language therapist. For me this is the anecdote about how much one can improve one's life quality.
    Wishing you that the next day will consistently be nicer that the past day!

    Ai dev, plasma scoring, space cannon (ghosts can find a red skip), warsuns. Ghost wasuns are muaat warsuns most of the time because of the wormhole +1 and actually even better as all of your wormholes are adjacent. Also they can be built in your home system and deployed through your flagship or agent, so unlike some factions, when you build a warsun, it is getting used.

    • @BeyondtheBoard
      @BeyondtheBoard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a good point I considered. Going deep red into warsun and using their mobility to get it to the front works well if you're in or want a combat heavy game for sure.

    • @picivyvortac2641
      @picivyvortac2641 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BeyondtheBoard and if you find you cannot afford warsuns, get the creuss red tech instead. If you bring your flagship and 2 destroyers into a fight (or any 3 nonfighter ships in a system with its own wormhole) you just destroy 2 ships before the fight even starts.

      @@BeyondtheBoard it is a shame no one has time for a 14 point game. Ghosts get wild around round 6. Ai Dev, plasma, assault, dim splice, warsun, sling relay, lightwave. Requires 1 red and 1 blue skip which ghosts can (especially if they plan from the start) get with a certain amount of ease. 7 tech (so 1 a round in a 14 pointer with 1 double somewhere along the way) and you become literally the scariest thing in TI4. "I can put a warsun, 6 mechs/infantry/fighters, and 2 destroyers in any system on the board and just destroy 2 ships for showing up. Every activation I can do that. And If I lose a warsun, even better because I can sling relay it into an unactivated system and go again.

  • @fieldmarshall
    @fieldmarshall 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Can you expand on the change in Direct Hit that makes it compatible with Dimensional Splicer?
    Also, what do you recommend for Ghost's Strategy picks? In my best game, I ended up taking Leadership almost every time.

    • @BeyondtheBoard
      @BeyondtheBoard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      twilight-imperium.fandom.com/wiki/Errata the errata adds that abilities can trigger direct hit, not just units.
      For strategy cards it really depends on the situation and objectives.

  • @scottccmaclean
    @scottccmaclean 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If you get tech round 1 consider sling relay and then use your home system to produce a dreadnaught. Bring the dread+1 destroyer to Mallice with 1 infantry via your agent. A dread and destroyer are a much more intimidating force than a carrier with a fighter and destroyer. You'll hold malice longer.

    Don't forget the legendary card of Malice. Turns your commodities into trade goods. If you take trade, it will net you 11 resources turn one.

    • @ZuyFean
      @ZuyFean 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could you elaborate how? If I am not mistaken that is not the case - since you start with no commodities on your board, after the Trade refresh you have four. Then you can exchange them with somebody to turn them into trade goods, or you can use the ability of Mallice to turn them. That's still 7 resources with the difference that you're not helping somebody else generate these resources. So if you use the ability of Mallice to generate 2 trade goods you actually go up to 9. It seems to me that turning commodities to trade goods is only good when you have nobody to trade with, as simply generating 2 resources will usually generate more for you.

    • @RickarRickani
      @RickarRickani 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ZuyFean In the first round it difficult to get a neighbour. And i rather have 4 trade good then 2 really. 4 in your home system, 3 from trade and 4 from the replenishing of yourself and using the Malice convertion of trade goods. So you 'Start' with 11 resources.

    I think you got the ability of the mech wrong. Since it's worded "this system" it means that the wormhole you get to place upon removing the mech is placed in the system where the mech was before it was removed, NOT in the activated system.

    • @BeyondtheBoard
      @BeyondtheBoard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true. You can however activate a system near the mech, use it to create a wormhole, then move through it to get there.

  • @charleshixon1458

    I actually love Antimass deflectors but researching it is painful. With Ghosts however, you can pop a wormhole in an asteroid field and have some fun with it. Just in general the ability to hide fleets in asteroid fields can be useful for Ghosts and staging your capitol in one across the map to raid or pressure enemies is fun but only if you're the only one with the tech and since no one really ever researches it... likely will be your domain to mess with, also PDS -1 honestly is not bad especially against those damn turtles. Still, Sling Relay is always good, PDS II is always good, faction techs are always good. It just is hard to choose it over other techs.

    • @Jack01010
      @Jack01010 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you cannot enter an asteroid field without antimass deflectors, because the only thing that wormholes do it's making the system with wormholes adjacent.
