As a writer I'm always looking for a new playlist to listen to when writing my new series and will listen to the same ones over and over again so I decided to make my own.

The guards surrounded her, forcing her to her knees before the queen. She grinned, hearing screams only moments later. “Sorry we were late, m’lady.” Her dearest warrior said with a bow. She stood up and stabbed the queen, “It isn’t my fault. They tried to make a queen bow. That’s utterly ridiculous.”

He stared down at the battered body of his greatest opponent. The frail man could barely stand up straight. He clutched his side breathing shallowly. Blood poured down from every part of his body. By some miracle he was still holding onto his sword. "You have nothing left! There is noting you can do! Your armies are exhausted! Your tricks have been exposed! Your weapons are worthless! Your allies have abandoned you! Your strategies have failed! I have taken everything you loved! I have turned your closest friends against you! There is nothing you can do except kneel!"
"Then why are you scared?"

As I look down I realize what has just happened, I had killed the queen, the king, and the prince and princess. I look up again and see the multitude of villagers cheering. I had killed the fake royalty and taken my throne back. I look down again and grab the crown from the floor where it had been thrown during my fight with the queen. I put the crown on my head and sat on the throne with a look that could have sliced the throats of those around. I had won the battle but I had a war to face.
The tip of her sword pressed against my throat. “You have nothing left to fight for. Your family, friends, and lover are dead. I killed them. So bow, and I will spare your worthless life. You are a pest to me. A nobody. So bow, bow before I slit your throat and get rid of the problem.”
I looked up at her. The news of the deaths of those people ripped the very fabric of my soul to threads. I would never see my younger sister, Daisy, smile again. My best friend, Jaren, would never crack another stupid joke. My lover, Kaleb, would never give me one of his uplifting speeches ever again.
I let those awful, heart wrenching thoughts swirl in my head for a few seconds. Letting them fuel my rage. Cassandra, my nemesis with all of her snotty glory, stood above me. The killer of everyone who had ever known me.
She was wrong. I had so much to fight for. The average folk cowering in their cellar - hoping to not be discovered, the little kids living on street corners - barely holding onto life, and now my loved ones - ripped from their lives and killed too early.
As I discretely grabbed the dagger that was hidden in my boot and prepared to fight for, not only my life, but those who were unfortunate to live under Cassandra’s cruel rule, I said, “I will not bow.”
I was bleeding from more places than i could count and my entire body was a bruise. Still I stood, shakily, slowly, but i got up once again.
"If you will not bow to me to save your own life, then..." my brother, my rival, stormed over to the captive audience of my defeated subjects: their faces ashen, tear-stained. I had tried to be a good ruler to them. He snatched a young man from the crowd, a mere boy, and began dragging him back over to where i stood. "...then you will watch as I kill your subj--"
My vicious brother, never without a comeback, was rendered speechless.
I knelt, forehead to floor, hands upturned in obeisance.
I took a second to enjoy his stunned silence, then glanced up sideways, derisively.
"To save another, of course i will bow. My pride is not worth more that the smallest life among my people." I straightened but remained kneeling. "Hatred is not strength; cruelty is not power; and pride is not glory. Take my queendom, brother, but i pray that one day, you may perhaps be worthy of it."

Daenys, the 2nd born told her sister boldly, Sierra sat the throne with a golden crown and a sinister smirk.
Sierra was first born but was she rightfully the heir?
By lore yes but by logic?
They’d never know.

“Daenys, sweet, innocent, foolish Daenys.” Sierra chuckled darkly. “Did you really think it would be that easy?” She asked, an evil smirk on her lips as she shook her head
“Honestly I thought you were smarter…. But I guess I was wrong,” Sierra stated, raising her staff
“Guards! Seize her.”

Our eyes meet from opposite ends of the throne room. The king surveys the surrounding scenery, seeing all of his soldiers laying lifelessly at my feet. Blood drips off the edge of my sword like the sweat dripping from my brow. The tip of my blade scrapes across the floor, creating a trail of sparks, as I begin my final approach. Despite the cold demeanor, and false strength he wears as a mask, the man's eyes reveal the panic he trully feels.
He attempts to rise up, but before he is able I am standing in front him. My blade pressed beneath his chin digging into his throat.
"I have been king for over 50 years, you are nothing to me" He states coldly. A small bead of blood trickles from his neck as I push the point further.
"Then I think it's time for you to take a small break". I flick my wrist to the right, and a small crimson waterfall is born from his neck. The color drains from the man's face and his body falls to the floor joining the rest of his kingdom. I kneel over him and remove the crown from his head, placing it on mine.
A new era is beginning. One in which I am in control. Anyone who defies me or retaliates will be brought to their knees like the man within the castle walls today. Making myself at home on the throne, I smile despite the chaos that surrounds me.. I have never felt more powerful and alive.

Before I truly knew what was happening they invaded.
I was in my study, reading the history of the kingdom, which was set to be mine in 2 years. That’s when I heard it. The sound of suffering, of pain, of fear coming from outside. I walked over to the window, confused at what I saw in the courtyard. I should’ve just ran. I knew the Dereta were our enemies, that we were at war and had been for centuries, but I never imagined this. As I watched the world of violence and death go by outside my window it felt as if time was frozen. I was stupid. I should’ve just ran. The fear wasn’t even there at first, only shock. I was shocked that they were attacking the castle, shocked they had passed our borders, and shocked that they appeared to be winning. I knew I should have fled, but I couldn’t move. I was simply paralyzed.
Some time later my maid Thea came rushing through the door, telling me that we had to escape. That’s when the fear finally set in, and I only had a second to grab one thing before my feet started to work faster than they ever had before. She informed me that my parents and younger brother had been murdered, and that if I didn’t escape with my life, then the kingdom would be doomed. We rounded the corner to go to the basement. There were hundreds of underground passageways that if we could’ve just gotten to them, we would’ve been fine. But alas, life is never that easy, is it? I heard a shout behind us. I should’ve just kept moving, but I turned around to see my guard, Julian. I was relieved, actually relieved to see that he was okay. I told him to join us, to escape the castle and it’s cruelty. But before I knew it, he caught up to me, whispered a singular word, “sorry”, and started to drag me to the throne room.
By the time I was delivered to the throne room I had my hands bound. I was terrified, but I’d never let any of my enemies see that, not even in death. Low and behold King Sartas and Queen Mydia were sitting on my parents throne, yet I hadn’t shed a single tear. I hadn’t had time to realize that I’d never hear my father’s command, see my mother’s smile, or hear my brothers laughter ever again. All I knew was the present. I was a captive, an example, and I was going to die. “Well, well the last of the royal line. Princess Alieah I regret to inform you our war is over.” King Sartas said, with the most triumphant of smiles upon his ignorant face. “I will gladly spare you and your people. That is if you would just bow to your new king and queen.” I laughed, an ugly, defeated, resentful laugh. He would never spare me, nor a single one of my loyal supporters, because as long as we lived so too could the possibility of rebellion. Both kingdoms had spend a multitude of resources on this war, and we both knew his rule would be unstable at best. That instability would increase tenfold while a rightful heir still lived. However I knew a rebellion could bring down my kingdom and his if the right spark started it. “I am the heir to this kingdom. It is mine and mine alone, and so long as I or any of my subjects live, we shall never kneel to your people. So you’re right. This war is over. Because if I can’t have my kingdom, who are you to think that you can?” So I did what I had to. With my bound hands, I reached into the hidden pocket of my dress and pulled out my flint while running to the throne. Before King Sartas could yell for the guards I had already set an ever growing fire to the beautiful wooden dais, and my golden dress with it. All kingdoms can burn.

Having luck on her side, she managed to enter a prestigious schools for royalty only. There she met the prince of the country, the soon to be Sun of the empire. He knew at first glance that she was a peasant from her clothes. Knowing this information, he started to bother her and get her to quit the academy.
He threatens her with his status and power over the country. One night, she and the prince stood in the knight's training grounds. It was as silent as a graveyard since all the knights have gone to sleep or stood in the posts. It was a duel. A duel between a peasant that luck very so favors and a prince that does not hesitate to hurt others in order to establish his dominance. Having her sword unsheathed, she stood calmly in a fighting stance. The prince, thinking that this was a sign of vulnerability, attacked her first. She has already expected this and avoided the hit before countering.
They continued to dance with their swords under the starry night with the moon being the main audience. She stumbled back when red liquid flooded down her arm and painted the ground with its demonic yet enticing color.
"Give up now peasant. Bow to your prince or else i will behead you right here, right now" The prince said as he stared at her with a cold gaze while a smug smile was painted on his face. He's going to win. He is supposed to win. No... he won. Thats why he called himself the prince. He was-
His thoughts froze when he felt something pierce through his shoulder. It was sharp. He felt pain. He felt physically hurt. The blood ran like waterfall down his chiselled body before feeling his knees grow weak. Now, down on the ground, he turned his head to look up at his opponent but was met with the heel of her boot, forcing his head down against the ground.
"Pride and power have made you blind to your greed. I pity your people if you continue to be the leader of your empire. But if you were to die right before my eyes and show your humility to the common people, then your death may not be in vain and you will be remembered as a noble leader.""

Don't let anyone look down on you, instead make them realize that your the who's in control.
Using violence to make someone obey isn't power, your just scared that one day, once they got their freedom back and learns how to fight back, you'll just lose.
Not everyone deserves your respect, not everyone deserves your kindness.. Most people in this world sees it as a weakness and would take advantage of it you continue to be a fool for them.
Learn how to keep your mouth shut when needed and speak rationally when needed.
Do not feel guilty, especially when they were the ones who started that war.
