Beautiful lecture! Gabriel Marcel was one of the great catalysts of the French philosophical revolution.

I think it is fair to say that Marcel's alternative to systems is wisdom.

    Fight against spirit of abstraction
    Abstract back from concrete situations
    Vague abstraction and generalities
    Too vague and meaningless generalities
    Material for rhetorical arguments
Wants to stay close to experience
    Highly cultured but not religious
Communicated with imaginary companions in the absence of real friends
    Beauty > Despair & Suicide
    Concrete Existential Philosophy and Personalism
    Hope > Despair
    Meaning > Absurdity
Doesn’t want to reduce it to mathematical equations
Music is more like perfume than mathematics
There’s much more life in music than mathematics or logic ever dreamed of
Availability - making yourself a gift

Perennial philosophy is a term of Aquinas? And is memory necessary for consciousness to be immortal or to be "conserved"?

    Egalitry Homo Viator
Availability - aptitude to give oneself to anything which offers, not arbitrarily but which deserves
    Being vs Having
True communion (personal decision) vs anthill - free gift on each side
Problem vs Mystery - objective challenge with potentially a final answer; the person/thinker himself addressing the mystery that he’s part of, he has to live out and live through the mystery, doesn’t have a final universal solution
Problem is to be solved, mystery is to be lived
Technological utilitarian mass society - reducing the individual into functions and uses, thing to be manipulated than respected
Philosophy of Gratitude, Hope and Communion
Faith is not an irrational leap
You can’t be just mud if you know you’re just mud
The beloved must be more than the body which dies
You have glimpsed in them that which is too beautiful to die
A transcendent ground beyond themselves, beyond time in eternity
    Consciousness of immortal destiny
Creative fidelity vs dry acceptance of chains
    Dry commitment of the will
    Spiritual dryness

One can touch more than he can grasp
    Too allergic to system
    Cramp of resentment
Image of atrophied and contradictory world
No man’s land of universal inanity
    Dramatized form of vertigo
    Narcissism of Nothingness

I would rather hear about, what Jesus is like, how he thought, and depth of that conversation. We each have our own philosophy.
