Whenever Doctor Who ends, whether it's in 5 years or another 50, I always imagined this music playing him out. The Final Doctor, slowly dying, opens up the TARDIS and walks up to the controls to say goodbye. He looks up and sees all of his past selves standing around the controls in order. As the camera pans past each of them, they each give him a final, bittersweet smile. With tears in their eyes, the Doctor takes one last spin in his love, his TARDIS. So victorious. So beautiful. So heartbreaking. That's what Doctor Who's been about for 50 years. And that's what it will be forevermore.
You kind of made me shed a tear, and that would be a beautiful exit that I don't have enough endurance to think about. It will be heartbreaking, and extremely emotional.
That Tardis flight pulling the Earth back in Journey’s End with all of 10’s companions has to be my favorite scene in the show. It was just so satisfying, especially with this music.
I completely agree with you, this is one of they only Doctor who peices that can actually bring me to tears because of how beautiful it is and for what the song represents, Freedom as whole xx
Can you imagine it? The whole world is saved from destruction and the entirety of mankind celebrates. The fireworks. The songs. The happiness. Man I love Doctor Who.
I'm sorry but IN MY OPINION the Russel T Davies era was the peak of doctor who's epicness. From Chris to David to the start of Matt it was all just phenomenal all these doctors were fantastic, especially David Tennant. The stories were creative and well written, the characters were well developed and unique and the music was ASTOUNDING.
The lyrics, by the way, are: Dum inter homines, sumus colamus humanitatem, cum tacent clament. ("While among humans, we must be humane. While we are silent, we cry out")
Wow, I remember eating curry in a restaurant with my family discussing what was going to happen in Journey's End since it's be on in an hour. I rushed downstairs later and we watched Donna leave together.
"As long as we are among humans, let us be humane"- that is the Doctor, who loses it when he's left on his own long enough and calls his friends the best of him!
This scene in Journey's End with everybody hugging and crying is one of my favorites in the entire show!! My eyes are watering because this is like the happiest moment ever!
first "Grimlock" now this? why all episodes of Doctor Who where a lot of people sing have such tear-sheddingly BEAUTIFUL soundtracks? goddamit, I'll run out of tears before I reach the 12th doctor!
this track always makes me happy because it makes me think of us as a race when we're not fighting or coursing chaos and just being happy like at Christmas time. if only we could always be peaceful and not be killing each other and fighting and ruining this beautiful world.
+Sean Last Christmas is not like it used to be. It may appear that there is peace around it, but it's actually one of the most stressful times of year, and has the highest rate of suicide. Sorry to depress you but I have a feeling we' re heading for some dark times ahead. I hope that there is some light at the end of the tunnel however.
This makes me cry with joy every single time. Nothing will top the RTD, David and Murray era. I started with Matt, who was awesome, but this? This is just on a whole other level.
The Eccelston/Tennant era was by far the strongest and greatest doctor who has ever been. With pretty much every single episode being amazing and a thrill. The music, the story's, the cast, the villains being amazing Williams, it was all there.
The heavy percussion, the choir, the strings.. Every single one working in perfect harmony to form the most beautiful, yet epic song I have ever heard. I know this song has views with 6 digits, but even THEN I think it's underrated. A finale such as this needed literally everything perfect. Personally, I couldn't think of a better ending. The setting, the scene, and the music just amplifies it all.
I hope this is used for 12 ' s regeneration especially if he saves gallifrey In his final episode . and when that last note plays, the 13th Doctor could open his eyes.
To me, this music represents unification. The entirety of reality, every corner of creation with all it's infinite worlds & species, was unified in that one moment in victory, against one common enemy. Just like how the companions were united, flying the TARDIS. And how the people of Earth were united in their joy over the Earth's return. One of the small details I love about the scene where the Earth returns to it's place is the news report about how countries across the world are holding celebrations simultaneously. Just imagine that: for that one moment, nothing else mattered. Everyone on Earth, and across all of creation, just united together in the same victory. It's one of those things that'd only be possible in fiction, but it's such a beautiful concept that it gets me teary eyed whenever I watch that scene.
Another virus will happen eventually. Plus, it was caused by humans consuming animal flesh despite it being wrng and not needed... Also this song is about the OOD being completely innocent creatures with their brains in their hands. Animals are completely innocent and we just consume them and enshlve them. There is no victory yet..
I was lucky enough to go the the Doctor Who Prom in 2008, and this song brings it back really vividly. I must have been 12 then, and it was the first time I really properly felt music. Davros and Ood were around, and RTD and Catherine Tate were in the box below ours (somehow boxes were cheaper than normal seats so we got one). I can't describe how the music felt and sounded. It was like you were hearing it with your emotions instead of your ears, if that makes any sense.
Right... like, among all the carnage and slaughter and hatred, there also some of us capable of creating simply beautiful things. Those are the humans worth fighting for. That is worth fighting to protect.
love this theme music so beautiful they will always be a Dr donna in all our hearts watching dr who back in the last stages of donna leaving us how many of the doctors hearts are aching when he sees his companions leave him like that poor doctor
We should listen to "Song of Freedom" at Christmas time and then it will feel really magical. Doctor Who is a magical show to me (that is one of the reasons why I love the show so much), Christmas is a magical time of the year, it would be so... MAGICAL.
But they are still part of the biggest and most wonderful family throughout all of space and time, a family that we here are all part of- the Doctor Who family. And even though we may never meet each other, may not even know each other exist, we are still a community who have watched together, laughed together, cried together. We are a fandom, but we are more than that. We are a family. The Doctor's family.
This is one song that could bring earth peace, if given a chance, a beautiful song, and also a memorable episode from doctor who, and the orchestra and the choir bring alot of feeling to this song x
This, and "This is Gallifrey..." were the first two soundtrack songs I downloaded and adored. Over a year later, they are still my top two! The emotion in this piece cannot be beaten!!!
Why because the guy who who had a in Mortal God kissing a nineteen-year-old and literally burned the work of his predecessors is back I like RTD but someone has to complain they're always has one
@@plantainsame2049 that first point is nonsense because who cares? And every era of doctor who changes keeps moving forward, RTD made it interesting again
I cried when I watched this scene cuz it reminded me of all my family together no arguing no fallouts they just be kind and that’s all anyone wants Kindness
one thing though, the 'Song of Freedom' with the incredible Welsh choir voices whilst towing Earth 'back home' ~ that is powerful and moving music, eh? Oh yes. This Episode 14, series(season) 4 ... it's a great combination of all the most-special people ... and don't tell me you didn't miss Rose as much as I did (and the Doctor too) ~ :-)
The absolute goosebumps this song and scene gives me every single time, I just love it! So much emotion just pours out when you hear this song and you think about the ood being free and are singing this for millions and millions of years all thanks to The Doctor and Doctor Donna!! I love how each and every companion is by The Doctor's side helping him bring the earth home with the TARDIS, just getting chills and emotional talking about it
This, is the most heart-breaking music ever. It's just how in that moment, The Doctor is celebrating another win, and he is with everyone he loves. And this music. JUST BROKE MY HEART.
Aw gee thanks, here come the tears, :'( I was beginning to like matt as the Doctor, but I think ten is still my fav. The music is so uplifting it makes me cry. Thank you for this beautiful song.

This is beautiful! Makes me think of how far the Doctor went, with all his companions pushing him further on and eventually saving the universe no matter what. It's touching to see how a very lonely man who's gone through all the sad times and coped with the burden to finally reunite with his long lost friends.
I remember, going to the Proms, and the choir sang this song. This song will be cherished in my memories as the time I went to the once in a lifetime event.

Prime Doctor Who
Except that almost every episode was set on Earth. Reeeeeeeaaaaaally boring trope.
Moffat actually handled Matt's first scene. The Davies era ended when Tennant regenerated
How you feeling today?

It's 2021 and this song literally makes me tear up.
Such a beautiful time. Just so glad I got to experience it while I was a kid.
The lyrics, by the way, are:
Dum inter homines, sumus colamus humanitatem, cum tacent clament.
("While among humans, we must be humane. While we are silent, we cry out")
CeruleanFilms SILENT HA IT'S A CONSPIRACY
CeruleanFilms thank you!
Honestly had no idea it only had two phrases
+CeruleanFilms it's actually 'While among men, let us cherish humanity, we are, with the silent crying out.'
:)
Wow good job copying and pasting the lyrics. You are so talented
The king…..has returned. And you know exactly who I mean.
