Rajasthan is much ahead in Music. With the world getting so competitive ,this might get lost in coming time. But can we do anything for it? Answer is Yes. People please support your local music scene. Please don't ask to get into guest list. Promote & appreciate this. A great piece of work .
my grandfather left Rajasthan during the days when the English took over India and settle in Trinidad and Tobago. I would love to meet some of my relatives from here , jai shri Ram.
This is really awesome, i love my rajasthani traditions, music, culture it has. Thanks those who captured it. Love you rajasthan and feeling proud being rajasthani.
and the ending... 1:00:08 😣 This documentary holds a lot of emotions and undoubtful that it is a work of God. Big thanks to all the people who are working to keep the art and culture alive.
wonderfull culture of rajasthan,,,,I still miss those moments spent listening bhopa bhopi songs in my childhood....Salute u bhavari devi for devotion to rajasthani culture,,,,
that,s the rajasthan. i proud, here is so many talent in music, dance and other tradisnal language culture. by bhikam singh rajpurohit nosariya ratangarh rajasthan
The one thing i miss most in india is the music. Am now working on playing an octave string violin to be able to play with many various gypsy types of musical styles. It's my great joy. Enjoyed this documentary.
I hear so many similarities between this wonderful music and the sound of old time melungeon singing in Appalachia ,too me just more proof that melungeons we're here long time before Columbus and somehow made it too Appalachia from the far East somewhere,
This really is a very intriguing documentary for whoever watch this around the world. Being a Rajasthani i am really proud of my culture but the problem of saving it still persists. Thanks to the amazing music fests like RIFF which has helped local village musicians to showcase there talent around the world.
Yes we can say this is a wonderful documentary. Those people who blames that not covered each n every thing, tell how cover the entire ancient history in single hour. We 'Discovery of Rajasthan' appreciate such a beautiful Documentary. Thanks.
Donate who? I am born in Rajasthan & my family itself make& play some of these music man. These thing are very much alive n going good. Money is the bitch everywhere but.
Great BBC pursuit.Thanks.I m born n brought up listening such mystical music since my childhood. But with the change of time and space...this culture is at the verge of extinction under impact of consequences sprung up by LPG under the changed social, political and economic circumstances.Apathetic attitude of people and sluggish govt initiative have made the things even worse.
So very beautiful, heartwarming, spiritual. I don't understand what the musicians are singing about, but the joy and passion is communicated across languages. Magnificent.
nicely done documentary...i love kalbelia style of music and dance. i also loved the music of the mangania from 42:10 onward, they are so talented and very 'sureela'...god bless them!
Rajasthan is so rich in folk culture. Satyajit Ray wanted to make a documentary on Rajasthani folk music but, unfortunately, he couldn't. Love from Kolkata ❤
It would be a great loss to all of humanity if a culture and music as rich and vibrant as this were to just vanish. Abandoned in favour of a mass, homogeneous and soulless one. This is a way of life that should continue and be celebrated. What John Singh is doing is wonderful. This is humanity's cultural heritage.
I've fallen in love with the dancing drummers at 13:15, is it "chang drummers"? where can i see more of it? Does anybody have more information on them?
This is called "Chang drummers". Generally they play and dance together during Holi festival in march or February. you can see in many northern parts of rajasthan like:- Jaipur, Bikaner, Churu and Sikar district. This folk music is so peaceful and i have seen many times in my hometown. My cousins they are from Churu and Bikaner side so they knows how to sing and play as well. Rajasthani folk music, culture and tradition i love it and proud to be a rajasthani. thanks :)
I have learned something today from gypsies of India. Today the world is small. Advice to the western countries that lost roots. If you dont know if music that you listen is good(dont know how to proceed in your life) close your eyes and listen.
its not lost, all the videos named "lost temples" lost this lost that .....all are quite active and not at all lost........... western people are " lost" and just found what they have lost not indians or other cultures
i like the documentary but i think they did not give that much space to 'Chang' music as it deserves. Also, they could have covered music from Bikaner.
Rajasthan is just not music and dance its more then it ,but no one talks about its history ,people,? language, everything is getting vanished. The biggest state of India is not able to get its own language.
Re; A comment made in this doc. When they "say all is good", they mean it. What is good for them may seem rubbish to the rest of the world. Their translation of "good" comes from a higher spiritual level.
Yes, you are totally on the pint. I knew these tirbal ambiances some years ago and..., despite their gentleness I was deeply shocked by their physical decay.
it is going to die eventually change is certain. we cant contain it however hard we try having said that, I too think this divine music is worth preserving
Except for touches of cheap patronising tone, the documentary seems to be ok. But nothing beyond that; It dosnt tell us how the music is a part and parcel of Rajasthani life-woven with their rituals, daily life from birt to death.

+kapil sharma I have a question regarding this "Future". What happens when money is no longer the God of this system?
Shadegat3 World would fall & the enlightened ones will be able to survive while the material loving would be destroyed.
kapil sharma :-) Well said . Bravo.
