+Maru Shard 27 It's actually called a geode and they come in many shapes, sizes and colors. They're really pretty and they can be found at science/nature stores if you have any in your area.

For the fringe, I would just skip the picots altogether and only fringe the diagonals.

I found that 7 peaks were not enough. you need 8 because peak 1 and 8 are half peaks so when they are joined you get 7 full peaks which you need for that size ball.

thank you Jill for this design and tutorial. thank you Evelyn for this comment. I just finished joining, and was confused because I didn't have 7 peaks - only 6 on both the top and the bottom. You are right of course the first and the last peak become one peak when you join the piece.... Hmmmmm what aren't you telling us Jill? I mean Jill magically has 7 peaks after joining the zig-zag.

ok... undid the join, added one more V, and found that I had to stop the last peak TWO rows before the pico in order to get the same amount of 15/0 accent beads on the right side of the joined peak, and, obviously, the same length as all the other sides of the V. I hope this is explained clealy enough for those of you who decide to make this piece. I was wondering why you would add a delica and a 15/0 when you start the join. If you go all the way to the very last pico you will have one delica and one 15/0 too many when you join the ends.

any cylinder shape seed bead will do, a lot of beaders just like delicas because they find them to be most regular, meaning that they are all pretty close in length and circumference where some cheaper brands tend to be less consistent
