As a guest of US Civil rights Organizer , Charles Cobb Jr. Kenya's Independence VP Oginga Odinga was once arrested in Atlanta while in Atlanta protesting against Black discrimination together with 17 other SNCC students . This was an embarrassment for the relations between US and Kenya after the state realized that they had locked up Kenya VP . He refused to leave jail until all the black students were released . His wishes were granted .
In 1963, Thurgood Marshall was responsible for writing part of Kenya's Independence constitution particularly the part on rights of racial minorities including white, asian/indian,arabs etc . Prior to Kenya Independence 1963 racial segregation in Kenya ,white 1st class citizen, asian/indian, arab second class citizen ,black kenya 3rd class .
US first Black Chief Justice responsible for writing part of Kenya’s independence constitution, Thurgood Marshall was disappointed at the post-independence polarization between Kenya Nationalists leaders President Jomo Kenyatta and VP Oginga Odinga and assassination of Nationalist Tom Mboya in 1960s . These were his close friends .
Yes all very true. Ironic that many of the people interviewed think that African Americans live privileged lives in a white majority country. We have to fight tooth and nail for every privilege though. There has always been cross continental support for each other. My grandfather went to HBCU Lincoln University with Kwame Nkrumah. The first Presidents of Malawi and Nigeria also attended school there. This "diaspora war" nonsense is a relatively new convention that is ruled by social media content creators and their desire to monetize their channels.
So impressed with the Kenyan people. So wise and insightful. We have so much to offer each other. "As we look to each other to discover who we are, we will rejoice to find out we've been looking at ourselves...." USA

Nice video Cooper. I would change the question of "Bridge the Gap" - its a little difficult and for some people didn't quite understand. Maybe ask "What can Kenyans and Black Amer learn from each other"
Kenya's independence constitution was partly written by first US Black Chief Justice Thurgood Marshall who was friends with Kenya Nationalists Jomo Kenyatta, Oginga Odinga and Tom Mboya . Tom Mboya was a Keynote speaker at the March in Washington in 1963 and close friends of Dr. Martin Luther King, Harry Belafonte ,Andrew Young, Sidney Poitier, Ralph Abernathy and other black civil rights leaders .
They set up resources to help educate Black Kenyans denied higher education opportunities by white before Independence hence Obama father to Harvard . After Harvard where he had studied Phd Economics, Obama father worked with Nationalist Tom Mboya who was Minister Of Economic Planning and was responsible for writing Kenya's post independence Economic framework . Obama wrote about his father ,Tom Mboya and their Luo peoples .
US civil rights leader Dr Martin Luther King lost his life in 1968 at age 39 and his close friend Kenya independence Nationalists Tom Mboya lost his life in 1969 at the age of 38 . Both Tom Mboya and Dr Martin Luther King had 4 kids each all below age 13 .

One way we can definitely try to bridge the gap is by educating each other about misconceptions, misunderstandings or wrong assumptions the other party might bear. The diverse opinions here show that they have not been exposed to the same material or that each person has drawn their own personal conclusion. Maybe next time you should ask what they think AA's might have wrong about Africans and also what they think they may have learnt about AA's and they think it might also be wrong.
@@mikeotiz3610 We live in a time where entertainment supersedes knowledge sadly. We have the most exposed generations alive but also programmed to consume the most ignorant material.
Nice channel. As a Kenyan, living in the states, I do believe we sit on the the shoulders of African Americans as far as breaking barriers here; we would never work in the corporate world as seamlessly for one. How about exploring what African Americans have done with Kenyans in the past. Thurgood Marshall was one of the authors of the original Kenyan constitution. I have many African American friends and they are diverse in character as Kenyans are. If we approach each other with mutual respect first collaborations would follow.
I really appreciate this. As an African American who are related to Tanzanian, Kenyan and Nigerian Americans who visit their families all the time, my family made it their business to always visit our motherland, and unlearn what we were taught about each other. The truth is: We...are...family!!
I need to go back at look at my old passports to remember when exactly I was in Kenya. it was a great trip. The wooden sculptures do some amazing work there.
Great video lol saying hello from America one day I will be moving to Africa I love when people have these type of discussions because native Africans have Misconceptions and opinions rather it be true or not or stereotypes a black of Americans and so do black Americans have their opinions about Africa rather it be true or not they have their way of thinking one thing we can all agree on is that we are African we are the same people but in different continents due to colonization and slavery we are good to have these conversations to get out in the open and collective rather be native Africans or African Americans we can change those negative perceptions that the opposite of us think about one another but can you please tag me in whatever episode this is that you put in the clip of 15:00
For the most part these interviews were very positive. I’ve only met one Kenyan in my life and that was when we were both in the US Army. Nairobi is definitely a city I want to visit after learning so much about it through my higher learning studies. Glad to see there are Kenyans who know we are their brothers and sisters
We Africans resent the ignorant side and the naivety of blacks in America about Africans. Many Africans live good quality lives than many black Americans .
A really really good video because it is not short we could learn from it. what I d like to know how yourself feel treated and what you think what Kenyans think about BA
The previous guy he was very attractive and I agreed that people need to learn their African heritage as far as who they are he made a lot of great points and this guy who says he’s a travel 17:45 I love how he speaks and he is very wise and he makes a lot of sense when he speaks so far this is the first video that I’ve watched on your channel and I really enjoy it it’s very eye-opening and I’m definitely gonna go and watch your content and it shouldn’t be any questions about if I’m going to subscribe😂😂😂 because I subscribe 10 minutes into the video
A majority of us are spoiled and privileged. Frowning on hard work. Not taking the time to build on skill sets that will serve us throughout life. Decades ago, if you gathered 100 people together, 100 had a skill. Today maybe 20 have a skill out of 100. We have got work to do to catch back up with our ancestors' brilliancy - and brilliant they were!
❤so this is an opportunity to teach us africans what we dont knw about our fellow africans in the usa the african Americans brothers and sisters because most sfricans only know what the media shows them about african Americans 😢and vice versa its a learning opportunity for both sides .keep it up 🎉🎉🎉🎉
If I was a president in my country Kenya, I would start a movement of black investors and professionals to invest in Kenya. I would also invite black Americans knowledgeable in medicine, engineering, agriculture and military hardware.
@@mikeotiz3610 it’s easy to say .. when ppl think of “America” they think of the opportunity to better themselves.. but for us who came from slavery we need the resources .. we just came from segregation only 50years ago .. we still getting back to our roots and knowledge over the past 15 years we finally are waking up ! 😂😂😂😂
I've been to Kenya (Da Florida bar) if you know U know lol. Got lost in Kenya, on foot. Walked around almost all night through the streets and was just fine. Kenya is a Great place!
Good to see you back brother. Karibu nyumbani.

To all the black in Africa and in diaspora God has made a way for us to communicate with each other with each other all around the world very special to our people on the continent of Africa what a great blessing but this is not just to contact each other it's time for us to come home we must come home you all must get ready for us to come home make ready for the people in America and around the world we are coming Home AFRICA Nation, please tell him he don't talk too much we love hearing him telling us what he needs what we need if you got something to say that are very good for the rest of us and sometimes it may not even sound that good but it was what we need to hear it God bless you you sound good
Cool video and interesting insight.

One way we can definitely try to bridge the gap is by educating each other about misconceptions, misunderstandings or wrong assumptions the other party might bear. The diverse opinions here show that they have not been exposed to the same material or that each person has drawn their own personal conclusion.
Maybe next time you should ask what they think AA's might have wrong about Africans and also what they think they may have learnt about AA's and they think it might also be wrong.
man, this interview was hard t watch for me, it seems we don't read as a people.

I’m engaged to a Kenyan woman
I’m black American 👍🏾
Awesome interview Cooper 👍🏿
I really appreciate this. As an African American who are related to Tanzanian, Kenyan and Nigerian Americans who visit their families all the time, my family made it their business to always visit our motherland, and unlearn what we were taught about each other. The truth is: We...are...family!!
I need to go back at look at my old passports to remember when exactly I was in Kenya. it was a great trip. The wooden sculptures do some amazing work there.
Great content Coop!!
✊🏾
Wheeew!!! 😂😂😂 Kenyans can explain one point in a million words😅😂😂
Haha
Kenyans are wordy! You ask Kenyan how are you doing? You better have a few minutes to spare! LOL
Good job, my brother.
👍🏾
I will visit East Africa. The brothers and sisters seem to be so welcoming.
Can't wait to visit
Great video lol saying hello from America one day I will be moving to Africa I love when people have these type of discussions because native Africans have Misconceptions and opinions rather it be true or not or stereotypes a black of Americans and so do black Americans have their opinions about Africa rather it be true or not they have their way of thinking one thing we can all agree on is that we are African we are the same people but in different continents due to colonization and slavery we are good to have these conversations to get out in the open and collective rather be native Africans or African Americans we can change those negative perceptions that the opposite of us think about one another but can you please tag me in whatever episode this is that you put in the clip of 15:00
Amazing!!!!! ❤
I love this show!💪👊!.
👍🏾
My sister met her African American fiancé at work and he's been to different parts of Kenya. I like how they blend and compliment each other ❤️
Where are these opportunities ?? I would love too know
@COOPSCORNER I love this last in grey young MAN he has a really good head on his shoulder on his outlook and perspective❤
For the most part these interviews were very positive. I’ve only met one Kenyan in my life and that was when we were both in the US Army. Nairobi is definitely a city I want to visit after learning so much about it through my higher learning studies. Glad to see there are Kenyans who know we are their brothers and sisters
I worked in Kenya for two years- lovely people.
That lady in yellow was correct. Black Americans in America don't treat blacks from Africa like their brothers.
And Africans in America do the same
Vice versa
@@jennywinter3025truth!
Why are you generalising?
We Africans resent the ignorant side and the naivety of blacks in America about Africans. Many Africans live good quality lives than many black Americans .
Great video

3:46 😂😂 Joe Budden’s face has me crying
Dope video bro!
✊🏾
They are so sweet and have nice manners
What happened to the theme song, Mother Africa.
I think bridging the gap starts with us all letting go of the narrative that we dislike each other.
Hehe coop that smile when she said they are cute😂
😏
I will go and visit Africans/blacks in Kenya ❤️
👍🏾
Welcome around
I love these interviews.
✊🏾
A really really good video because it is not short we could learn from it. what I d like to know how yourself feel treated and what you think what Kenyans think about BA
👍🏾
They can share cultures, like trying each other's food and listening to each other's music. Learning about each other.
Kenyans seem very welcoming.
Yes but the pales exploit and abuse their kindness
The previous guy he was very attractive and I agreed that people need to learn their African heritage as far as who they are he made a lot of great points and this guy who says he’s a travel 17:45 I love how he speaks and he is very wise and he makes a lot of sense when he speaks so far this is the first video that I’ve watched on your channel and I really enjoy it it’s very eye-opening and I’m definitely gonna go and watch your content and it shouldn’t be any questions about if I’m going to subscribe😂😂😂 because I subscribe 10 minutes into the video
😅😅😅😅the Nigerian who is also admiring Nigerian culture n accent...he forgot he was a Nigerian.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ah man I can’t wait to come out to Kenya this year! People seem so chill! Just need to upgrade my Swahili a bit 😂
Most Kenyans are well Educated
I Love this what you do there are two sides to every story.
What a question? There is only one Afrikan people scattered throughout the globe. But I love your show!
Nice bro
✊🏾
❤so this is an opportunity to teach us africans what we dont knw about our fellow africans in the usa the african Americans brothers and sisters because most sfricans only know what the media shows them about african Americans 😢and vice versa its a learning opportunity for both sides .keep it up 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Black Americans.
@@COOPSCORNER oh okay.is there a difference
It’s not our fault we seem “privileged“ lol we was practically stolen from our homeland and stripped away from knowing our true heritage.. smh
Knowing that our skin tone defines us as Gods not diminish us .. if it says we come from dirt then i never seen white dirt
If we were stolen from Africa. Then who built all those pyramids in St. Louis Missouri to South America?
African Americans are still oblivious because only black folks build pyramids period.
😂😂😂😂...come and experience them. OMG I wish you knew 😢
