- The Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam is now home to around 70 islands which have immense tourism destination development potential. There are many possibilities for us on the horizon if we commit to working in unison to unlock our national potential.

Congratulations from Canada, I hope you never again need to suffer drought and famine like back in the early 80s. But it is kind of strange to me as a European to see obviously fertile landscapes with no sign of human settlement. No fields, no roads, no villages ... In my country almost every square meter us used for settlements, roads and railways, fields to grow food ... even the forests are are pervaded with roads to make it easier to manage the forest and harvest the trees. Only a few percent of the land are protected nature reserves.
I read somewhere that lower altitudes in Ethiopia would be less populated due to the presence of Malaria but I do not know whether this is true.
Many parts of remote Ethiopia is empty. We are not European so our way of life is not like Europeans. There are villages near by, but they’re remote
Yes, Ethiopians loath heat, and they prefer the cool higher grounds. It can be hot in the area although it would be comfortable during the cooler season, October to February.

Too bad Ethiopians don’t benefit from their own dam. Imagine if we had private investors build tourist attraction lodges & resorts on here. Corrupt government wont allow the people to work red tape everywhere, bribe everyone to get one paper. God safe Ethiopia from Abiy
