Jim's Consumer Advice #2 - Public Wi-Fi Is Not Safe!

Hi, I’m Jim Maisano - I work in Consumer Protection & sharing some info to help keep you safe!
Let me make something very clear: PUBLIC WI-FI HOTSPOTS ARE NOT SAFE!
When your surfing the internet with Free Wi-Fi at places like McDonalds or Starbucks - Be Careful!
It’s not safe like your Home Wi-Fi which is protected with passwords & encryption!
Hackers target free Wi-Fi hotspots - sometimes they see what you're doing on your computer!
SO HERE’S SOME ADVICE:
1) When you’re on Public Wi-Fi - avoid visiting your accounts that require Login Info & Passwords!
2) Never check the accounts for your bank, your credit card or other financial sites!
3) Never enter confidential info - like your Social Security Number!
And 4) Always use a virtual private network (VPN) on Public Wi-Fi for added protection!

Great reminder Jim. I typically only use public wifi when I'm out of cell phone data. That's great info. U gained a new sub.
