    I was watching in horror as I have broken my hydraulic from leaving it for longer than 10 seconds on high, no matter what I am more mindful of the machines power & I got it replaced. seriously this is the best juicer hands down, I also have a Breville Bluicer when I am lazy, but Norwalk is the best, I have had mine which is yellow for over 10 years and I had it shipped to Brisbane Australia, people always ask me what that machine is on my counter. when I tell them they are curious it does so many things and I still love it after 10 years when you realise that a lot of household appliances don't last 2 years!!

      Yes, I think I have had mine for seven years or so. Currently I use it to make almond butter more than juice. It is a great juicer.

    I've got tips for you.
    When you are juicing greens, they have a tendency of sticking to the juicing cloth so a good idea is to line the cloth with a brown paper napkin.
    Secondly, a good container to store the juice in is a canning jar.
    You put the juice in the canning jar but don't fill it to the top. then use a foodsaver to pump out all of the air and the juice lasts a long time.

      Sorry, I don't have any advice. You might call Norwalk. I called them once when having an issue and they were easy to deal with.

    What are the size of your measuring cups? (You say "3/4 of a cup' then you retract and say "3/4 of the container"?

      You are correct. That would be three cups as I'm using a quart container. I had not noticed that.

    does this juicer make more juice than the others?

    • @markgunnison
      @markgunnison  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That depends. All you get is juice, the pulp is discarded. I think it gets more "juice" than other juicers but you are discarding a fair amount of pulp. We also have a Twin Star and Vitamix. I like the Norwalk the most but it kind of depends on what kind of juice you are making.

    • @dariosergevna
      @dariosergevna 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your answer. Did you hear about Omega vertical masticating HD juicer? It says that it "obtains the highest degree of extraction and the healthiest possible juice", and its low speed. Can you say something about it? Just saw it in one video and heard about Omega name sometimes.

    • @markgunnison
      @markgunnison  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      My experience is limited to the Green Star (not Twin Star) and Norwalk. For the price I think the Green Star is a great value. I have not seen an Omega though. I do use a Vitamix for smoothies almost daily though.

    • @markgunnison
      @markgunnison  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if it makes more because you get less pulp. I do think the juice is more juice like though.

    Great video and idea with using the cloths... the bags and the press are quite small
    My dog eats the carrot pulp from my Norwalk and doesn't leave a scrap behind... Just saying! Norwalk should check their claims because it makes them look bad when someone like myself puts it to the test and proves them wrong.- they claim no animal will eat it because all the nutrients are gone. Also thy claim that is provides the most juice out of any juicer... I tested it next to my omega and got the exact same amount of juice... then i put the pulp from my omega in the norwalk press and got another 25%... I love the juicer dont get me wrong!... But check the facts NORWALK...It doesn't look good for they're credibility in regards to their other ridiculous claims like it has the most nutrients... at this point id like to see the evidence on that!! Peace peace... "Speak the truth Even if it kills you"- unknown

    • @markgunnison
      @markgunnison  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, we found that a friend's bunny would eat our pulp. We were surprised by that. There is also juice left after pressing the cloths. I have a 12 ton press in my garage. I was surprised how much juice I could get using that press - you could not drink it though as it is not clean. I think they only use a 2 ton press to avoid breaking cloths/bags but who knows. There is still juice left even after multiple pressings with the Norwalk. I do think it makes the best tasting juice though.

      @@markgunnison Awesome video! I thoroughly enjoyed it - thank you.
      By the way, I had no idea Harbor Freight existed 2+ decades ago, ha; mid 30s guy here.
      Semi-avid juice fantastic here since early 2011 and owner/tester of many press & twin gear juice extraction technologies. I'm curious if you have ever experimented with rearranging the pressed pulp after the initial press. I have had success with extracting additional juice that way, sometimes as much as an ounce. Procedure: 1) open press cloth after first press; square shaped press cake will lay in center of press cloth. 2) take the four corners of the press cloth, meet them together and form a fist grip over the corners. 3) With your fist clinched, lower your grip around the cloth a few inches - just enough to secure all the pulp. 4) break pulp within press cloth using opposite hand. 5) open press cloth and center the broken up. 6) re-press as you would a first time press. Works like a charm to get the pulp bone dry.
