    The full build video makes it look way easier than it really was, but it's good for people that wouldn't have the time to watch the whole series. I remember the shock viewing that beautiful body cut in half. The pain of him making the "crystal" thing. And the disappointment when the flickering LEDs interfered with the pickups. It was a fun build.

    • @PastelComGini
      @PastelComGini ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ↑ and if by any chance someone interpret this as criticism, it's not, it's just a recognition on how much effort Ben had put on the build.

  • @Craftlngo
    @Craftlngo ปีที่แล้ว +21

    Although I've seen the whole build back then I totally forgot how tedious and incredible intricate this build was. I still think that the humming of the flickering LED's give the instrument a one of its kind sound.

    Stumbled onto your channel the past few days and couldn’t be happier. I’ve been debating on buying a kit to build the guitar that I want and for what I need. It’s nice seeing all the work and getting tons of ideas for what I’d like to do. Thank you for sharing your creations with us!

    It was a mad-professor build in general, but I'd forgotten how understated and quite elegant that fretboard was.

  • @DeeSeaAreEss
    @DeeSeaAreEss ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I remember watching this first time round and being blown away by the inventiveness and attention to detail. The fretboard is to die for. Amazing guitar.

  • @yobrethren
    @yobrethren ปีที่แล้ว +3

    wow, that fretboard is really good
    considering in the future there could be problems with delivering wood, fretboards could legit be just pieced together by tiny leftover wood, and the texture looks pretty!

  • @SweetTGuitars
    @SweetTGuitars ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I miss the little shop. I really loved the wood on the ceiling and walls. It gave it a really nice backdrop for the videos! I really like the new shop with the addition too! The white wall gives it an antique feel which fits perfect with all the old tools! I love the Cyberpunk guitar. Amazing work Ben, as always. Purpose & Longing my friend. ✌️

    I loved this build, it's a masterclass in designing and innovating as you go. I'd forgotten about the exquisite fretboard and the distressed hardware- subtle though they are compared to some other features, they do make a difference. And the turnbuckles!

    Almost as soon as I saw the flickering LED's I wondered how you'd deal with the sound that will come from them. And I guess the answer is "you don't". I enjoyed the metalwork on this one, particularly how you worked on the potholes (as in holes for pots, not the scourge of UK roads!). Great build as always, thank you!

  • @yikelu
    @yikelu 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    When you put in the LEDs for the side dot inlays, my mind immediately went to an energy drink slogan circa 2009 -- "No Half Measures".
    Incredible work. The relic'ing is cool and fits the theme. I'd probably never pay for a "standard guitar" relic, but I have recently done a build where I did one myself.

    Very fond memories of watching this build during lockdown 1.0 and wondering what insanity Ben would come up with next. I haven't changed my mind about the end result though - it's a stunning piece of art/movie prop but not very good at being a playable guitar.

    I am chomping at the bit to build a guitar from either a well made Kit of even from Scratch. I have the skills but not the Tools at the present time. I have rescued many guitar over the years and still have them, and taught myself how to do my own setups. Building from a kit will be my Next move, then from there will be a scratch build! There is a Passion that's burning inside of me to do these things, but I guess I will have to put it off until I find another Home with more space...

    I’ve not seen any of this before.. and I’ve a few remarks..
    1: Restricted tool builds are all well and good, but I’d prefer to restrict my tool choice to ones that make it easier.
    2: For “fairly relaxed stuff”, that ferric chloride looked pretty aggressive to me.
    3: The top to back glue joint on that kit body looks bloody perfect!
    4: F’board LEDs - what were the resistors for, and what values please?
    5: Apart from not sleeping, you had WAY too much fun!

    This was a really fun build. I watched it as it came out. The only thing I would have preferred would have been another colour. I’ve never liked that ballpoint pen blue colour. I probably would have made the two halves different colours for the full cyberpunk scratch-built look. Just a personal taste thing.

    Based on the memes, the guitar should have a built in kickstand on the back, the knobs should be trumpet finger buttons/valves (out is off and fully depressed is max), a bottle opener on the headstock (built in or a modular nook to hold a bottle opener), and the entire body area below the bridge should be a hollow half circle that folds out into a full circle with a foldout fishing rod reel can be used to wind and store 15 meters of cable... but wait! There's more! The fold out wheel extends below the body and the fold out reel can be locked into a solid platform to stand on, turning the entire guitar into a roller skate, a dolly, or a wheeled distance marker for construction work!
    You know it must be done. Throw on the soundtrack and start getting cyberpunk for real.

    You might want to re-edit this video as there is the LED noise followed by the apparent dismay followed by you firing up the "Burn IT" torch.
    You need to fit some Ledbuckers
    All joking aside those LEDs are switching inside the led with some kind of IC so the noise is being generated right next to the pickups you may get less noise if you had ordinary Leds and wired them into a multi channel contoller circuit further away in the battery cavity? I assume the cases of those pickup are grounded? The other thing that might work would be to split the body again and apply copper tape to the body to shield the leds and then ground the copper tape.
    When I was a kid I built a wah wah and did a circuit mod to make it an auto wah using a 555timer chip it was ok till I built it into a case then all you could here was tic tok as the 555 timer changed state I swapped it for the lower power cmos 7555 and it reduced the noise but I was never able to get rid of the clock noise as I was young and inexperienced I ended up throwing it away as a bad job.

  • @DougJessee

    I cannot imagine critters would not find those open holes with warm tasty electronics and wires very inviting.
    In the game, some things are covered with a tight wire mesh… maybe use that?

  • @MrAaroncissell

    Wonderful build with very Cyberpunk sound when the LEDs are on. Makes me wonder if controlled LEDs do the same and have a sound listening board change the flash rate and light intensity to change the pitch of the hum as you play.
    Again what you think of and make comes out wonderful even if you don't think so.

    It is not done. I think you should get rid of the humming LEDs and instead have normal LEDs that light up with a brightness reflecting the amplitude of what is being played. So it would come alive as it is being strummed, for me this is essential as it would connect the lights to the player. instead of this random flickering. Also it needs to be squared off more to distinguish it from the original kit.
    All that said. As it is, it is a work of art and pure brilliance.
