    So glad I found this video! I didn’t get into usc this year and know I want to transfer from the school I will be attending this fall (LSU). I’m SO glad you mentioned that high school grades don’t matter as much, because I only started getting good grades jr/sr year, so I still had a low hs gpa. This was so helpful :)

    As I was editing, I realized a lot of the footage was lost when the camera ran out of battery and I didn't feel like filming again LOL so I'll just give the missing info here:
    Essentially I discussed the application for USC and what I found to be beneficial.
    Within the application, there is the option to put 2 letter of recs (one from an educational institution and one from work/job), I asked the head of my department (Political Science) to write my letter of rec which I think really helped my application. If possible, you should try to ask one of your major professors rather than a professor you took for a GE class. This also means that you should try to build good relationships with your professors and show that you're really passionate about what you're learning.
    Along with the letter of recs, there is the option for 3 essay questions. The first one is 650 words and you're answering why you want to transfer to USC. Then you have the option to choose 2 other essays, both 250 words. For these two essays, I believe you have the ability to choose which prompt you want to answer, so I suggest talking about something you haven't already mentioned in your application (the admissions people don't want to see you talking about the same thing throughout your entire application).
    Besides the application, you need to make sure you turn in your official transcripts from both your high school (if you’re applying as a sophomore) and the school you’re transferring from.
    Hopefully this information helped and if you still have questions please let us know!!

    thank you so much!! i got waitlisted at ucsd, so i’m pretty sure i’m committing to uh manoa before may 1st, but if i do that then i would try to transfer to usc. this is definitely the more expensive option compared to going to community and then a uc though, but i’m just so unsure because i never imagined myself going to a community college before and i know that hawaii would be such a great experience for me...

    • @sydneyolay4963
      @sydneyolay4963  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Sonya, with either option you choose I'm certain you'll end up in the place you're meant to be (as cheesy as that sounds lmao), but if you want my advice, I think you should think about if going to hawaii is what you really want or if you're scared of the idea of going to a community college. Personally, I think going to community college is an amazing opportunity as you're saving so much money. The stigma surrounding community college is really sad and dumb imo because people are given another chance to get into the college of their dreams.
      You should also think about if you would be willing to spend all 4 years at hawaii if, worst case scenario, you aren't able to transfer out. If you can't imagine yourself there then honestly I would suggest going to community college. Hopefully this helped you get a sense of your options! But again, with any decision you make, I'm sure you'll make the most of it :)

    I am attending Cal Poly Pomona and, I was wondering a few questions. How did you guys know which classes to take that would also transfer over to USC/UCLA since there isn't an "ASSIST" equivalent to this process? Also, am I able to transfer only by reaching the required prerequisites for USC/UCLA or, would I also be required to finish all the GEs required by Cal Poly Pomona?

    Hi guys,
    First of all, thank you so much for both of you. Both of you worked so hard for the video and spent your valuable time on the people, especially the students like me who had no idea about community college and the transfer process.
    Now I have two questions for NICOLE because I am going to my local community college (LACC)the next Fall semester and want to major in psychology. UCLA is my dream school. I had no AP credit because I am an immigrant student(came last year to the USA). So my number 1 question is do I need to take a counseling class as a first-semester student? I talked to my counselor(I didn’t like her planning though) and she suggested taking two counseling classes, one psych class, and one English class for Fall. But I want to take math and bio class instead of counseling.
    And my number 2 question is Can I get your educational plan? because I think it will be very helpful for me if I get an educational planner from a student who transfers to UCLA as a psych major Like the classes you have taken besides AP credit. ( I want to know what classes you have taken to fulfill 90 qt units.).I want to mention that I want to transfer in two years.

So I applied to USC before the deadline and sent in most of my transcripts except from one college which I took dual enrollment because I have holds so I can get them and I'm trying to pay those off in time. Would that cause my application to be rejected if I send it in super late? I'm really nervous about that. I applied as a transfer because I'm in community college rn

      Hi Natalia! It will definitely be very difficult to transfer in one year if you're applying as a neurobiology major because there's a lot of prereqs and courses you're going to need to take before you can transfer!

    • @nataliatrinh7574
      @nataliatrinh7574 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sydney Olay Ah, I see that’s understandable too. Did you find it hard trying to make sure to fill out all all the pre recs for different schools? Sorry for all these questions, I got into Davis but because of finances my father wanted me to go to CC and I was kind worried that it would be hard to transfer into UC Davis, which it will but still possible. I guess the idea of going to a CC kind of just scared me since it’s a different pathway and there’s no guarantee that I will be able to get into Davis. I’m just trying to see CC was a way to branch off to many different opportunities and give me another chance to try to get into Irvine as well.
